大卫从前与非利士人同去，要与扫罗争战，有些玛拿西人来投奔大卫，他们却没有帮助非利士人；因为非利士人的首领商议，打发他们回去，说：「恐怕大卫拿我们的首级，归降他的主人扫罗。」
dà wèi cóng qián yǔ fēi lì shì rén tóng qù ， yào yǔ sǎo luó zhēng zhàn ， yǒu xiē mǎ ná xī rén lái tóu bèn dà wèi ， tā men què méi yǒu bāng zhù fēi lì shì rén ； yīn wèi fēi lì shì rén de shǒu lǐng shāng yì ， dǎ fā tā men huí qù ， shuō ：「 kǒng pà dà wèi ná wǒ men de shǒu jí ， guī xiáng tā de zhǔ rén sǎo luó 。」
Some of Manasseh also joined David when he came with the Philistines against Saul to battle, but they didn’t help them, for the lords of the Philistines sent him away after consultation, saying, “He will desert to his master Saul to the jeopardy of our heads.”
