sā mǔ ěr sǐ le , yǐ sè liè zhòng rén jù jí , wèi tā āi kū , jiāng tā zàng zài lā mǎ — tā zì jǐ de fén mù lǐ 。 dà wèi hé yà bǐ gāi dà wèi qǐ shēn , xià dào bā lán de kuàng yě 。

Samuel died; and all Israel gathered themselves together and mourned for him, and buried him at his house at Ramah. Then David arose and went down to the wilderness of Paran.

zài mǎ yún yǒu yí gè rén , tā de chǎn yè zài jiā mì , shì yí gè dà fù hù , yǒu sān qiān mián yáng , yì qiān shān yáng ; tā zhèng zài jiā mì jiǎn yáng máo 。

There was a man in Maon whose possessions were in Carmel; and the man was very great. He had three thousand sheep and a thousand goats; and he was shearing his sheep in Carmel.

nà rén míng jiào ná bā , shì jiā lè zú de rén ; tā de qī míng jiào yà bǐ gāi , shì cōng ming jùn měi de fù rén 。 ná bā wèi rén gāng bì xiōng è 。

Now the name of the man was Nabal; and the name of his wife Abigail. This woman was intelligent and had a beautiful face; but the man was surly and evil in his doings. He was of the house of Caleb.

dà wèi zài kuàng yě tīng jiàn shuō ná bā jiǎn yáng máo ,

David heard in the wilderness that Nabal was shearing his sheep.

:「

dà wèi jiù dǎ fā shí gè pú rén , fēn fù tā men shuō :「 nǐ men shàng jiā mì qù jiàn ná bā , tí wǒ de míng wèn tā ān 。

David sent ten young men; and David said to the young men, “Go up to Carmel, and go to Nabal, and greet him in my name.

:『

yào duì nà fù hù rú cǐ shuō :『 yuàn nǐ píng ān , yuàn nǐ jiā píng ān , yuàn nǐ yí qiè suǒ yǒu de dōu píng ān 。

Tell him, ‘Long life to you! Peace be to you! Peace be to your house! Peace be to all that you have!

xiàn zài wǒ tīng shuō yǒu rén wéi nǐ jiǎn yáng máo , nǐ de mù rén zài jiā mì de shí hòu hé wǒ men zài yí chù , wǒ men méi yǒu qī fù tā men , tā men yě wèi céng shī luò shén me 。

Now I have heard that you have shearers. Your shepherds have now been with us, and we didn’t harm them. Nothing was missing from them all the time they were in Carmel.

。』」

kě yǐ wèn nǐ de pú rén , tā men bì gào sù nǐ 。 suǒ yǐ yuàn wǒ de pú rén zài nǐ yǎn qián méng ēn , yīn wèi shì zài hǎo rì zi lái de 。 qiú nǐ suí shǒu qǔ diǎn cì yǔ pú rén hé nǐ ér zi dà wèi 。』」

Ask your young men, and they will tell you. Therefore let the young men find favor in your eyes, for we come on a good day. Please give whatever comes to your hand to your servants and to your son David.’”

dà wèi de pú rén dào le , jiāng zhè huà tí dà wèi de míng dōu gào sù le ná bā , jiù zhù le kǒu 。

When David’s young men came, they spoke to Nabal all those words in the name of David, and waited.

:「西

ná bā huí dá dà wèi de pú rén shuō :「 dà wèi shì shuí ? yē xī de ér zi shì shuí ? jìn lái bèi nì zhǔ rén bēn táo de pú rén shèn duō ,

Nabal answered David’s servants and said, “Who is David? Who is the son of Jesse? There are many servants who break away from their masters these days.

?」

wǒ qǐ kě jiāng yǐn shí hé wèi wǒ jiǎn yáng máo rén suǒ zǎi de ròu gěi wǒ bù zhī dào cóng nǎ lǐ lái de rén ne ?」

Shall I then take my bread, my water, and my meat that I have killed for my shearers, and give it to men who I don’t know where they come from?”

dà wèi de pú rén jiù zhuǎn shēn cóng yuán lù huí qù , zhào zhè huà gào sù dà wèi 。

So David’s young men turned on their way and went back, and came and told him all these words.

:「!」

dà wèi xiàng gēn suí tā de rén shuō :「 nǐ men gè rén dōu yào dài shàng dāo !」 zhòng rén jiù dōu dài shàng dāo , dà wèi yě dài shàng dāo 。 gēn suí dà wèi shàng qù de yuē yǒu sì bǎi rén , liú xià èr bǎi rén kān shǒu qì jù 。

David said to his men, “Every man put on his sword!” Every man put on his sword. David also put on his sword. About four hundred men followed David, and two hundred stayed by the baggage.

:「使

yǒu ná bā de yí gè pú rén gào sù ná bā de qī yà bǐ gāi shuō :「 dà wèi cóng kuàng yě dǎ fā shǐ zhě lái wèn wǒ zhǔ rén de ān , zhǔ rén què rǔ mà tā men 。

But one of the young men told Abigail, Nabal’s wife, saying, “Behold, David sent messengers out of the wilderness to greet our master; and he insulted them.

dàn shì nà xiē rén dài wǒ men shèn hǎo ; wǒ men zài tián yě yǔ tā men lái wǎng de shí hòu , méi yǒu shòu tā men de qī fù , yě wèi céng shī luò shén me 。

But the men were very good to us, and we were not harmed, and we didn’t miss anything as long as we went with them, when we were in the fields.

wǒ men zài tā men nà lǐ mù yáng de shí hòu , tā men zhòu yè zuò wǒ men de bǎo zhàng 。

They were a wall to us both by night and by day, all the while we were with them keeping the sheep.

。」

suǒ yǐ nǐ dāng chóu huà , kàn zěn yàng xíng cái hǎo ; bù rán , huò huàn dìng yào lín dào wǒ zhǔ rén hé tā quán jiā 。 tā xìng qíng xiōng bào , wú rén gǎn yǔ tā shuō huà 。」

Now therefore know and consider what you will do; for evil is determined against our master and against all his house, for he is such a worthless fellow that one can’t speak to him.”

yà bǐ gāi jí máng jiāng èr bǎi bǐng , liǎng pí dài jiǔ , wǔ zhī shōu shí hǎo le de yáng , wǔ xì yà hōng hǎo le de suì zǐ , yì bǎi pú táo bǐng , èr bǎi wú huā guǒ bǐng , dōu tuó zài lǘ shàng ,

Then Abigail hurried and took two hundred loaves of bread, two containers of wine, five sheep ready dressed, five seahs of parched grain, one hundred clusters of raisins, and two hundred cakes of figs, and laid them on donkeys.

:「。」

duì pú rén shuō :「 nǐ men qián tou zǒu , wǒ suí zhe nǐ men qù 。」 zhè shì tā què méi yǒu gào sù zhàng fu ná bā 。

She said to her young men, “Go on before me. Behold, I am coming after you.” But she didn’t tell her husband, Nabal.

yà bǐ gāi qí zhe lǘ , zhèng xià shān pō , jiàn dà wèi hé gēn suí tā de rén cóng duì miàn xià lái , yà bǐ gāi jiù yíng jiē tā men 。

As she rode on her donkey, and came down hidden by the mountain, behold, David and his men came down toward her, and she met them.

:「

dà wèi céng shuō :「 wǒ zài kuàng yě wèi nà rén kān shǒu suǒ yǒu de , yǐ zhì tā yí yàng bù shī luò , shí zài shì tú rán le ! tā xiàng wǒ yǐ è bào shàn 。

Now David had said, “Surely in vain I have kept all that this fellow has in the wilderness, so that nothing was missed of all that pertained to him. He has returned me evil for good.

!」

fán shǔ ná bā de nán dīng , wǒ ruò liú yí gè dào míng rì zǎo chén , yuàn shén chóng chóng jiàng fá yǔ wǒ !」

God do so to the enemies of David, and more also, if I leave of all that belongs to him by the morning light so much as one who urinates on a wall.”

便

yà bǐ gāi jiàn dà wèi , biàn jí máng xià lǘ , zài dà wèi miàn qián liǎn fú yú dì kòu bài ,

When Abigail saw David, she hurried and got off her donkey, and fell before David on her face and bowed herself to the ground.

:「

fǔ fú zài dà wèi de jiǎo qián , shuō :「 wǒ zhǔ a , yuàn zhè zuì guī wǒ ! qiú nǐ róng bì nǚ xiàng nǐ jìn yán , gèng qiú nǐ tīng bì nǚ de huà 。

She fell at his feet and said, “On me, my lord, on me be the blame! Please let your servant speak in your ears. Hear the words of your servant.

wǒ zhǔ bú yào lǐ zhè huài rén ná bā , tā de xìng qíng yǔ tā de míng xiāng chèn ; tā míng jiào ná bā , tā wèi rén guǒ rán yú wán 。 dàn wǒ zhǔ suǒ dǎ fā de pú rén , bì nǚ bìng méi yǒu kàn jiàn 。

Please don’t let my lord pay attention to this worthless fellow, Nabal, for as his name is, so is he. Nabal is his name, and folly is with him; but I, your servant, didn’t see my lord’s young men whom you sent.

:『。』

wǒ zhǔ a , yē hé huá jì rán zǔ zhǐ nǐ qīn shǒu bào chóu , qǔ liú xuè de zuì , suǒ yǐ wǒ zhǐ zhe yǒng shēng de yē hé huá 、 yòu gǎn zài nǐ miàn qián qǐ shì shuō :『 yuàn nǐ de chóu dí hé móu hài nǐ de rén dōu xiàng ná bā yī yàng 。』

Now therefore, my lord, as the LORD lives and as your soul lives, since the LORD has withheld you from blood guiltiness and from avenging yourself with your own hand, now therefore let your enemies and those who seek evil to my lord be as Nabal.

rú jīn qiú nǐ jiāng bì nǚ sòng lái de lǐ wù gěi gēn suí nǐ de pú rén 。

Now this present which your servant has brought to my lord, let it be given to the young men who follow my lord.

qiú nǐ ráo shù bì nǚ de zuì guo 。 yē hé huá bì wèi wǒ zhǔ jiàn lì jiān gù de jiā , yīn wǒ zhǔ wèi yē hé huá zhēng zhàn ; bìng qiě zài nǐ píng shēng de rì zi chá bù chū yǒu shén me guò lái 。

Please forgive the trespass of your servant. For the LORD will certainly make my lord a sure house, because my lord fights the LORD’s battles. Evil will not be found in you all your days.

suī yǒu rén qǐ lái zhuī bī nǐ , xún suǒ nǐ de xìng mìng , nǐ de xìng mìng què zài yē hé huá — nǐ de shén nà lǐ méng bǎo hù , rú bāo guǒ bǎo qì yí yàng ; nǐ chóu dí de xìng mìng , yē hé huá bì pāo qù , rú yòng jī xián shuǎi shí yí yàng 。

Though men may rise up to pursue you and to seek your soul, yet the soul of my lord will be bound in the bundle of life with the LORD your God. He will sling out the souls of your enemies as from a sling’s pocket.

。」

wǒ zhǔ xiàn zài ruò bù qīn shǒu bào chóu liú wú gū rén de xuè , dào le yē hé huá zhào suǒ yīng xǔ nǐ de huà cì fú yǔ nǐ , lì nǐ zuò yǐ sè liè de wáng , nà shí wǒ zhǔ bì bú zhì xīn lǐ bù ān , jué de liáng xīn yǒu kuī 。 yē hé huá cì fú yǔ wǒ zhǔ de shí hòu , qiú nǐ jì niàn bì nǚ 。」

It will come to pass, when the LORD has done to my lord according to all the good that he has spoken concerning you, and has appointed you prince over Israel,

that this shall be no grief to you, nor offense of heart to my lord, either that you have shed blood without cause, or that my lord has avenged himself. When the LORD has dealt well with my lord, then remember your servant.”

dà wèi duì yà bǐ gāi shuō :「 yē hé huá — yǐ sè liè de shén shì yīng dāng chēng sòng de , yīn wèi tā jīn rì shǐ nǐ lái yíng jiē wǒ 。

David said to Abigail, “Blessed is the LORD, the God of Israel, who sent you today to meet me!

nǐ hé nǐ de jiàn shí yě dāng chēng zàn ; yīn wèi nǐ jīn rì lán zǔ wǒ qīn shǒu bào chóu 、 liú rén de xuè 。

Blessed is your discretion, and blessed are you, who have kept me today from blood guiltiness, and from avenging myself with my own hand.

wǒ zhǐ zhe zǔ zhǐ wǒ jiā hài yú nǐ de yē hé huá — yǐ sè liè yǒng shēng de shén qǐ shì , nǐ ruò bú sù sù dì lái yíng jiē wǒ , dào míng rì zǎo chén , fán shǔ ná bā de nán dīng bì dìng bù liú yí gè 。」

For indeed, as the LORD the God of Israel lives, who has withheld me from harming you, unless you had hurried and come to meet me, surely there wouldn’t have been left to Nabal by the morning light so much as one who urinates on a wall.”

:「!」

dà wèi shòu le yà bǐ gāi sòng lái de lǐ wù , jiù duì tā shuō :「 wǒ tīng le nǐ de huà , zhǔn le nǐ de qíng miàn , nǐ kě yǐ píng píng ān ān dì huí jiā ba !」

So David received from her hand that which she had brought him. Then he said to her, “Go up in peace to your house. Behold, I have listened to your voice and have granted your request.”

yà bǐ gāi dào ná bā nà lǐ , jiàn tā zài jiā lǐ shè bǎi yán xí , rú tóng wáng de yán xí ; ná bā kuài lè dà zuì 。 yà bǐ gāi wú lùn dà xiǎo shì dōu méi yǒu gào sù tā , jiù děng dào cì rì zǎo chén 。

Abigail came to Nabal; and behold, he held a feast in his house like the feast of a king. Nabal’s heart was merry within him, for he was very drunk. Therefore she told him nothing until the morning light.

dào le zǎo chén , ná bā xǐng le jiǔ , tā de qī jiāng zhè xiē shì dōu gào sù tā , tā jiù hún bú fù tǐ , shēn jiāng rú shí tou yì bān 。

In the morning, when the wine had gone out of Nabal, his wife told him these things; and his heart died within him, and he became as a stone.

guò le shí tiān , yē hé huá jī dǎ ná bā , tā jiù sǐ le 。

About ten days later, the LORD struck Nabal, so that he died.

dà wèi tīng jiàn ná bā sǐ le , jiù shuō :「 yīng dāng chēng sòng yē hé huá , yīn tā shēn le ná bā xiū rǔ wǒ de yuān , yòu zǔ zhǐ pú rén xíng è ; yě shǐ ná bā de è guī dào ná bā de tóu shàng 。」 yú shì dà wèi dǎ fā rén qù , yǔ yà bǐ gāi shuō , yào qǔ tā wèi qī 。

When David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, “Blessed is the LORD, who has pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal, and has kept back his servant from evil. The LORD has returned the evildoing of Nabal on his own head.” David sent and spoke concerning Abigail, to take her to himself as wife.

When David’s servants had come to Abigail to Carmel, they spoke to her, saying, “David has sent us to you, to take you to him as wife.”

:「。」

yà bǐ gāi jiù qǐ lái , fǔ fú zài dì , shuō :「 wǒ qíng yuàn zuò bì nǚ , xǐ wǒ zhǔ pú rén de jiǎo 。」

She arose and bowed herself with her face to the earth, and said, “Behold, your servant is a servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord.”

Abigail hurriedly arose and rode on a donkey with her five maids who followed her; and she went after the messengers of David, and became his wife.

Now Saul had given Michal his daughter, David’s wife, to Palti the son of Laish, who was of Gallim.
