wǒ — bǎo luó , jiù shì yǔ nǐ men jiàn miàn de shí hòu shì qiān bēi de , bú zài nǐ men nà lǐ de shí hòu xiàng nǐ men shì yǒng gǎn de , rú jīn qīn zì jiè zhe jī dū de wēn róu 、 hé píng quàn nǐ men 。

Now I Paul, myself, entreat you by the humility and gentleness of Christ, I who in your presence am lowly among you, but being absent am bold toward you.

yǒu rén yǐ wéi wǒ shì píng zhe xuè qì xíng shì , wǒ yě yǐ wéi bì xū yòng yǒng gǎn dài zhè děng rén ; qiú nǐ men bú yào jiào wǒ zài nǐ men nà lǐ de shí hòu , yǒu zhè yàng de yǒng gǎn 。

Yes, I beg you that I may not, when present, show courage with the confidence with which I intend to be bold against some, who consider us to be walking according to the flesh.

yīn wèi wǒ men suī rán zài xuè qì zhōng háng shì , què bù píng zhe xuè qì zhēng zhàn 。

For though we walk in the flesh, we don’t wage war according to the flesh;

wǒ men zhēng zhàn de bīng qì běn bú shì shǔ xuè qì de , nǎi shì zài shén miàn qián yǒu néng lì , kě yǐ gōng pò jiān gù de yíng lěi ,

for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds,

使

jiāng gè yàng de jì móu , gè yàng lán zǔ rén rèn shi shén de nà xiē zì gāo zhī shì , yí gài gōng pò le , yòu jiāng rén suǒ yǒu de xīn yì duó huí , shǐ tā dōu shùn fú jī dū 。

throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

bìng qiě wǒ yǐ jīng yù bèi hǎo le , děng nǐ men shí fēn shùn fú de shí hòu , yào zé fá nà yí qiè bú shùn fú de rén 。

and being in readiness to avenge all disobedience when your obedience is made full.

nǐ men shì kàn yǎn qián de ma ? tǎng ruò yǒu rén zì xìn shì shǔ jī dū de , tā yào zài xiǎng xiǎng , tā rú hé shǔ jī dū , wǒ men yě shì rú hé shǔ jī dū de 。

Do you look at things only as they appear in front of your face? If anyone trusts in himself that he is Christ’s, let him consider this again with himself, that even as he is Christ’s, so we also are Christ’s.

zhǔ cì gěi wǒ men quán bǐng , shì yào zào jiù nǐ men , bìng bú shì yào bài huài nǐ men ; wǒ jiù shì wèi zhè quán bǐng shāo wēi kuā kǒu , yě bú zhì yú cán kuì 。

For even if I boast somewhat abundantly concerning our authority, which the Lord gave for building you up and not for casting you down, I will not be ashamed,

wǒ shuō zhè huà , miǎn de nǐ men yǐ wéi wǒ xiě xìn shì yào wēi hè nǐ men ;

that I may not seem as if I desire to terrify you by my letters.

:「。」

yīn wèi yǒu rén shuō :「 tā de xìn yòu chén zhòng yòu lì hài , jí zhì jiàn miàn , què shì qì mào bù yáng , yán yǔ cū sú de 。」

For, “His letters”, they say, “are weighty and strong, but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech is despised.”

zhè děng rén dāng xiǎng , wǒ men bú zài nà lǐ de shí hòu , xìn shàng de yán yǔ rú hé , jiàn miàn de shí hòu , xíng shì yě bì rú hé 。

Let such a person consider this, that what we are in word by letters when we are absent, such are we also in deed when we are present.

yīn wèi wǒ men bù gǎn jiāng zì jǐ hé nà zì jiàn de rén tóng liè xiāng bǐ 。 tā men yòng zì jǐ dù liàng zì jǐ , yòng zì jǐ bǐ jiào zì jǐ , nǎi shì bù tōng dá de 。

For we are not bold to number or compare ourselves with some of those who commend themselves. But they themselves, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves with themselves, are without understanding.

wǒ men bú yuàn yì fèn wài kuā kǒu , zhǐ yào zhào shén suǒ liáng gěi wǒ men de jiè xiàn gòu dào nǐ men nà lǐ 。

But we will not boast beyond proper limits, but within the boundaries with which God appointed to us, which reach even to you.

wǒ men bìng fēi guò le zì jǐ de jiè xiàn , hǎo xiàng gòu bú dào nǐ men nà lǐ ; yīn wèi wǒ men zǎo dào nǐ men nà lǐ , chuán le jī dū de fú yīn 。

For we don’t stretch ourselves too much, as though we didn’t reach to you. For we came even as far as to you with the Good News of Christ,

wǒ men bú zhàng zhe bié rén suǒ láo lù de , fèn wài kuā kǒu ; dàn zhǐ wàng nǐ men xìn xīn zēng zhǎng de shí hòu , suǒ liáng gěi wǒ men de jiè xiàn , jiù kě yǐ yīn zhe nǐ men gèng jiā kāi zhǎn ,

not boasting beyond proper limits in other men’s labors, but having hope that as your faith grows, we will be abundantly enlarged by you in our sphere of influence,

dé yǐ jiāng fú yīn chuán dào nǐ men yǐ wài de dì fāng ; bìng bú shì zài bié rén jiè xiàn zhī nèi , jiè zhe tā xiàn chéng de shì kuā kǒu 。

so as to preach the Good News even to the parts beyond you, not to boast in what someone else has already done.

dàn kuā kǒu de , dāng zhǐ zhe zhǔ kuā kǒu 。

But “he who boasts, let him boast in the Lord.”

yīn wèi méng yuè nà de , bú shì zì jǐ chēng xǔ de , nǎi shì zhǔ suǒ chēng xǔ de 。

For it isn’t he who commends himself who is approved, but whom the Lord commends.
