qīn ài de dì xiong a , wǒ men jì yǒu zhè děng yīng xǔ , jiù dāng jié jìng zì jǐ , chú qù shēn tǐ 、 líng hún yí qiè de wū huì , jìng wèi shén , dé yǐ chéng shèng 。

Having therefore these promises, beloved, let’s cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

便

nǐ men yào xīn dì kuān dà shōu nà wǒ men 。 wǒ men wèi céng kuī fù shuí , wèi céng bài huài shuí , wèi céng zhàn shuí de pián yi 。

Open your hearts to us. We wronged no one. We corrupted no one. We took advantage of no one.

wǒ shuō zhè huà , bú shì yào dìng nǐ men de zuì 。 wǒ yǐ jīng shuō guò , nǐ men cháng zài wǒ men xīn lǐ , qíng yuàn yǔ nǐ men tóng shēng tóng sǐ 。

I say this not to condemn you, for I have said before that you are in our hearts to die together and live together.

wǒ dà dà dì fàng dǎn , xiàng nǐ men shuō huà ; wǒ yīn nǐ men duō duō kuā kǒu , mǎn dé ān wèi ; wǒ men zài yí qiè huàn nàn zhōng fèn wài de kuài lè 。

Great is my boldness of speech toward you. Great is my boasting on your behalf. I am filled with comfort. I overflow with joy in all our affliction.

wǒ men cóng qián jiù shì dào le mǎ qí dùn de shí hòu , shēn tǐ yě bù dé ān níng , zhōu wéi zāo huàn nàn , wài yǒu zhēng zhàn , nèi yǒu jù pà 。

For even when we had come into Macedonia, our flesh had no relief, but we were afflicted on every side. Fightings were outside. Fear was inside.

dàn nà ān wèi sàng qì zhī rén de shén jiè zhe tí duō lái ān wèi le wǒ men ;

Nevertheless, he who comforts the lowly, God, comforted us by the coming of Titus,

bú dàn jiè zhe tā lái , yě jiè zhe tā cóng nǐ men suǒ dé de ān wèi , ān wèi le wǒ men ; yīn tā bǎ nǐ men de xiǎng niàn 、 āi tòng , hé xiàng wǒ de rè xīn , dōu gào sù le wǒ , jiào wǒ gèng jiā huān xǐ 。

and not by his coming only, but also by the comfort with which he was comforted in you while he told us of your longing, your mourning, and your zeal for me, so that I rejoiced still more.

wǒ xiān qián xiě xìn jiào nǐ men yōu chóu , wǒ hòu lái suī rán ào huǐ , rú jīn què bú ào huǐ ; yīn wǒ zhī dào , nà xìn jiào nǐ men yōu chóu bú guò shì zàn shí de 。

For though I grieved you with my letter, I do not regret it, though I did regret it. For I see that my letter made you grieve, though just for a while.

rú jīn wǒ huān xǐ , bú shì yīn nǐ men yōu chóu , shì yīn nǐ men cóng yōu chóu zhōng shēng chū ào huǐ lái 。 nǐ men yī zhe shén de yì sī yōu chóu , fán shì jiù bú zhì yú yīn wǒ men shòu kuī sǔn le 。

I now rejoice, not that you were grieved, but that you were grieved to repentance. For you were grieved in a godly way, that you might suffer loss by us in nothing.

yīn wèi yī zhe shén de yì sī yōu chóu , jiù shēng chū méi yǒu hòu huǐ de ào huǐ lái , yǐ zhì dé jiù ; dàn shì sú de yōu chóu shì jiào rén sǐ 。

For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, which brings no regret. But the sorrow of the world produces death.

nǐ kàn , nǐ men yī zhe shén de yì sī yōu chóu , cóng cǐ jiù shēng chū hé děng de yīn qín 、 zì sù 、 zì hèn 、 kǒng jù 、 xiǎng niàn 、 rè xīn 、 zé fá 。 zài zhè yí qiè shì shàng , nǐ men dōu biǎo míng zì jǐ shì jié jìng de 。

For behold, this same thing, that you were grieved in a godly way, what earnest care it worked in you. Yes, what defense, indignation, fear, longing, zeal, and vindication! In everything you demonstrated yourselves to be pure in the matter.

wǒ suī rán cóng qián xiě xìn gěi nǐ men , què bú shì wèi nà kuī fù rén de , yě bú shì wèi nà shòu rén kuī fù de , nǎi yào zài shén miàn qián bǎ nǐ men gù niàn wǒ men de rè xīn biǎo míng chū lái 。

So although I wrote to you, I wrote not for his cause that did the wrong, nor for his cause that suffered the wrong, but that your earnest care for us might be revealed in you in the sight of God.

使

gù cǐ , wǒ men dé le ān wèi 。 bìng qiě zài ān wèi zhī zhōng , yīn nǐ men zhòng rén shǐ tí duō xīn lǐ chàng kuài huān xǐ , wǒ men jiù gèng jiā huān xǐ le 。

Therefore we have been comforted. In our comfort we rejoiced the more exceedingly for the joy of Titus, because his spirit has been refreshed by you all.

wǒ ruò duì tí duō kuā jiǎng le nǐ men shén me , yě jué de méi yǒu cán kuì ; yīn wǒ duì tí duō kuā jiǎng nǐ men de huà chéng le zhēn de , zhèng rú wǒ duì nǐ men suǒ shuō de huà yě dōu shì zhēn de 。

For if in anything I have boasted to him on your behalf, I was not disappointed. But as we spoke all things to you in truth, so our glorying also which I made before Titus was found to be truth.

bìng qiě tí duō xiǎng qǐ nǐ men zhòng rén de shùn fú , shì zěn yàng kǒng jù zhàn jīng dì jiē dài tā , tā ài nǐ men de xīn cháng jiù yuè fā rè le 。

His affection is more abundantly toward you, while he remembers all of your obedience, how with fear and trembling you received him.

wǒ rú jīn huān xǐ , néng zài fán shì shàng wèi nǐ men fàng xīn 。

I rejoice that in everything I am confident concerning you.
