yǔ zhòng guǎ hé de , dú zì xún qiú xīn yuàn , bìng nǎo hèn yí qiè zhēn zhì huì 。

A man who isolates himself pursues selfishness, and defies all sound judgment.

yú mèi rén bù xǐ ài míng zhé , zhī xǐ ài xiǎn lù xīn yì 。

A fool has no delight in understanding, but only in revealing his own opinion.

è rén lái , miǎo shì suí lái ; xiū chǐ dào , rǔ mà tóng dào 。

When wickedness comes, contempt also comes, and with shame comes disgrace.

rén kǒu zhōng de yán yǔ rú tóng shēn shuǐ ; zhì huì de quán yuán hǎo xiàng yǒng liú de hé shuǐ 。

The words of a man’s mouth are like deep waters. The fountain of wisdom is like a flowing brook.

zhān xùn è rén de qíng miàn , piān duàn yì rén de àn jiàn , dōu wèi bú shàn 。

To be partial to the faces of the wicked is not good, nor to deprive the innocent of justice.

yú mèi rén zhāng zuǐ qǐ zhēng duān , kāi kǒu zhāo biān dǎ 。

A fool’s lips come into strife, and his mouth invites beatings.

yú mèi rén de kǒu zì qǔ bài huài ; tā de zuǐ shì tā shēng mìng de wǎng luó 。

A fool’s mouth is his destruction, and his lips are a snare to his soul.

chuán shé rén de yán yǔ rú tóng měi shí , shēn rù rén de xīn fù 。

The words of a gossip are like dainty morsels: they go down into a person’s innermost parts.

zuò gōng xiè dài de , yǔ làng fèi rén wéi dì xiong 。

One who is slack in his work is brother to him who is a master of destruction.

便

yē hé huá de míng shì jiān gù tái ; yì rén bēn rù biàn dé ān wěn 。

The LORD’s name is a strong tower: the righteous run to him, and are safe.

fù zú rén de cái wù shì tā de jiān chéng , zài tā xīn xiǎng , yóu rú gāo qiáng 。

The rich man’s wealth is his strong city, like an unscalable wall in his own imagination.

bài huài zhī xiān , rén xīn jiāo ào ; zūn róng yǐ qián , bì yǒu qiān bēi 。

Before destruction the heart of man is proud, but before honor is humility.

便

wèi céng tīng wán xiān huí dá de , biàn shì tā de yú mèi hé xiū rǔ 。

He who answers before he hears, that is folly and shame to him.

rén yǒu jí bìng , xīn néng rěn nài ; xīn líng yōu shāng , shuí néng chéng dāng ne ?

A man’s spirit will sustain him in sickness, but a crushed spirit, who can bear?

cōng ming rén de xīn dé zhī shi ; zhì huì rén de ěr qiú zhī shi 。

The heart of the discerning gets knowledge. The ear of the wise seeks knowledge.

rén de lǐ wù wèi tā kāi lù , yǐn tā dào gāo wèi de rén miàn qián 。

A man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men.

xiān sù qíng yóu de , sì hū yǒu lǐ ; dàn lín shè lái dào , jiù chá chū shí qíng 。

He who pleads his cause first seems right— until another comes and questions him.

chè qiān néng zhǐ xī zhēng jìng , yě néng jiě sàn qiáng shèng de rén 。

The lot settles disputes, and keeps strong ones apart.

dì xiong jié yuàn , quàn tā hé hǎo , bǐ qǔ jiān gù chéng hái nán ; zhè yàng de zhēng jìng rú tóng jiān zhài de mén shuān 。

A brother offended is more difficult than a fortified city. Disputes are like the bars of a fortress.

使

rén kǒu zhōng suǒ jié de guǒ zǐ , bì chōng mǎn dù fù ; tā zuǐ suǒ chū de , bì shǐ tā bǎo zú 。

A man’s stomach is filled with the fruit of his mouth. With the harvest of his lips he is satisfied.

shēng sǐ zài shé tou de quán xià , xǐ ài tā de , bì chī tā suǒ jié de guǒ zǐ 。

Death and life are in the power of the tongue; those who love it will eat its fruit.

dé zhe xián qī de , shì dé zhe hǎo chù , yě shì méng le yē hé huá de ēn huì 。

Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of the LORD.

pín qióng rén shuō āi qiú de huà ; fù zú rén yòng wēi hè de huà huí dá 。

The poor plead for mercy, but the rich answer harshly.

làn jiāo péng yǒu de , zì qǔ bài huài ; dàn yǒu yì péng yǒu bǐ dì xiong gèng qīn mì 。

A man of many companions may be ruined, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
