Bible Verses About Wisdom

The Bible treats wisdom as something to be pursued and even asked for directly. These verses, many from Proverbs, point the way to a well-lived life.

1. James 1:5

   But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

   你们中间若有缺少智慧的，应当求那厚赐与众人、也不斥责人的 神，主就必赐给他。

   nǐ men zhōng jiān ruò yǒu quē shǎo zhì huì de ， yìng dāng qiú nà hòu cì yǔ zhòng rén 、 yě bú chì zé rén de shén ， zhǔ jiù bì cì gěi tā 。

2. Proverbs 3:5

   Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding.

   你要专心仰赖耶和华， 不可倚靠自己的聪明，

   nǐ yào zhuān xīn yǎng lài yē hé huá ， bù kě yǐ kào zì jǐ de cōng ming ，

3. Proverbs 9:10

   The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom. The knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

   敬畏耶和华是智慧的开端； 认识至圣者便是聪明。

   jìng wèi yē hé huá shì zhì huì de kāi duān ； rèn shi zhì shèng zhě biàn shì cōng ming 。

4. Proverbs 4:7

   Wisdom is supreme. Get wisdom. Yes, though it costs all your possessions, get understanding.

   智慧为首； 所以，要得智慧。 在你一切所得之内必得聪明 。

   zhì huì wèi shǒu ； suǒ yǐ ， yào dé zhì huì 。 zài nǐ yí qiè suǒ dé zhī nèi bì dé cōng ming 。

5. Ecclesiastes 7:12

   For wisdom is a defense, even as money is a defense; but the excellency of knowledge is that wisdom preserves the life of him who has it.

   因为智慧护庇人， 好像银钱护庇人一样。 惟独智慧能保全智慧人的生命。 这就是知识的益处。

   yīn wèi zhì huì hù bì rén ， hǎo xiàng yín qián hù bì rén yí yàng 。 wéi dú zhì huì néng bǎo quán zhì huì rén de shēng mìng 。 zhè jiù shì zhī shi de yì chù 。

6. Colossians 3:16

   Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your heart to the Lord.

   当用各样的智慧，把基督的道理丰丰富富地存在心里 ，用诗章、颂词、灵歌，彼此教导，互相劝戒，心被恩感，歌颂 神。

   dāng yòng gè yàng de zhì huì ， bǎ jī dū de dào lǐ fēng fēng fù fù dì cún zài xīn lǐ ， yòng shī zhāng 、 sòng cí 、 líng gē ， bǐ cǐ jiào dǎo ， hù xiāng quàn jiè ， xīn bèi ēn gǎn ， gē sòng shén 。

7. Proverbs 2:6

   For the LORD gives wisdom. Out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding.

   因为，耶和华赐人智慧； 知识和聪明都由他口而出。

   yīn wèi ， yē hé huá cì rén zhì huì ； zhī shi hé cōng ming dōu yóu tā kǒu ér chū 。

8. James 3:17

   But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

   惟独从上头来的智慧，先是清洁，后是和平，温良柔顺，满有怜悯，多结善果，没有偏见，没有假冒。

   wéi dú cóng shàng tóu lái de zhì huì ， xiān shì qīng jié ， hòu shì hé píng ， wēn liáng róu shùn ， mǎn yǒu lián mǐn ， duō jié shàn guǒ ， méi yǒu piān jiàn ， méi yǒu jiǎ mào 。

9. Psalms 111:10

   The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom. All those who do his work have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!

   敬畏耶和华是智慧的开端； 凡遵行他命令的是聪明人。 耶和华是永远当赞美的！

   jìng wèi yē hé huá shì zhì huì de kāi duān ； fán zūn xíng tā mìng lìng de shì cōng ming rén 。 yē hé huá shì yǒng yuǎn dāng zàn měi de ！
