「 zhū wèi fù xiōng qǐng tīng , wǒ xiàn zài duì nǐ men fēn sù 。」

“Brothers and fathers, listen to the defense which I now make to you.”

zhòng rén tīng tā shuō de shì xī bó lái huà , jiù gèng jiā ān jìng le 。

When they heard that he spoke to them in the Hebrew language, they were even more quiet. He said,

:「

bǎo luó shuō :「 wǒ yuán shì yóu tài rén , shēng zài jī lì jiā de dà shù , cháng zài zhè chéng lǐ , zài jiā mǎ liè mén xià , àn zhe wǒ men zǔ zōng yán jǐn de lǜ fǎ shòu jiào , rè xīn shì fèng shén , xiàng nǐ men zhòng rén jīn rì yí yàng 。

“I am indeed a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, instructed according to the strict tradition of the law of our fathers, being zealous for God, even as you all are today.

wǒ yě céng bī pò fèng zhè dào de rén , zhí dào sǐ dì , wú lùn nán nǚ dōu suǒ ná xià jiān 。

I persecuted this Way to the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women,

as also the high priest and all the council of the elders testify, from whom also I received letters to the brothers, and traveled to Damascus to bring them also who were there to Jerusalem in bonds to be punished.

「 wǒ jiāng dào dà mǎ shì gé , zhèng zǒu de shí hòu , yuē zài shǎng wǔ , hū rán cóng tiān shàng fā dà guāng , sì miàn zhào zhe wǒ 。

“As I made my journey and came close to Damascus, about noon suddenly a great light shone around me from the sky.

wǒ jiù pú dǎo zài dì , tīng jiàn yǒu shēng yīn duì wǒ shuō :『 sǎo luó ! sǎo luó ! nǐ wèi shén me bī pò wǒ ?』

I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’

wǒ huí dá shuō :『 zhǔ a , nǐ shì shuí ?』 tā shuō :『 wǒ jiù shì nǐ suǒ bī pò de ná sā lè rén yē sū 。』

I answered, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ He said to me, ‘I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you persecute.’

yǔ wǒ tóng xíng de rén kàn jiàn le nà guāng , què méi yǒu tīng míng nà wèi duì wǒ shuō huà de shēng yīn 。

“Those who were with me indeed saw the light and were afraid, but they didn’t understand the voice of him who spoke to me.

wǒ shuō :『 zhǔ a , wǒ dàng zuò shén me ?』 zhǔ shuō :『 qǐ lái , jìn dà mǎ shì gé qù , zài nà lǐ , yào jiāng suǒ pài nǐ zuò de yí qiè shì gào sù nǐ 。』

I said, ‘What shall I do, Lord?’ The Lord said to me, ‘Arise, and go into Damascus. There you will be told about all things which are appointed for you to do.’

耀

wǒ yīn nà guāng de róng yào bù néng kàn jiàn , tóng háng de rén jiù lā zhe wǒ shǒu jìn le dà mǎ shì gé 。

When I couldn’t see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of those who were with me, I came into Damascus.

nà lǐ yǒu yí gè rén , míng jiào yà ná ní yà , àn zhe lǜ fǎ shì qián chéng rén , wèi yí qiè zhù zài nà lǐ de yóu tài rén suǒ chēng zàn 。

“One Ananias, a devout man according to the law, well reported of by all the Jews who lived in Damascus,

tā lái jiàn wǒ , zhàn zài páng biān , duì wǒ shuō :『 xiōng dì sǎo luó , nǐ kě yǐ kàn jiàn 。』 wǒ dāng shí wǎng shàng yí kàn , jiù kàn jiàn le tā 。

came to me, and standing by me said to me, ‘Brother Saul, receive your sight!’ In that very hour I looked up at him.

tā yòu shuō :『 wǒ men zǔ zōng de shén jiǎn xuǎn le nǐ , jiào nǐ míng bái tā de zhǐ yì , yòu dé jiàn nà yì zhě , tīng tā kǒu zhōng suǒ chū de shēng yīn 。

He said, ‘The God of our fathers has appointed you to know his will, and to see the Righteous One, and to hear a voice from his mouth.

yīn wèi nǐ yào jiāng suǒ kàn jiàn de , suǒ tīng jiàn de , duì zhe wàn rén wéi tā zuò jiàn zhèng 。

For you will be a witness for him to all men of what you have seen and heard.

。』」

xiàn zài nǐ wèi shén me dān yán ne ? qǐ lái , qiú gào tā de míng shòu xǐ , xǐ qù nǐ de zuì 。』」

Now why do you wait? Arise, be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.’

「 hòu lái , wǒ huí dào yē lù sā lěng , zài diàn lǐ dǎo gào de shí hòu , hún yóu xiàng wài ,

“When I had returned to Jerusalem and while I prayed in the temple, I fell into a trance

kàn jiàn zhǔ xiàng wǒ shuō :『 nǐ gǎn jǐn dì lí kāi yē lù sā lěng , bù kě chí yán ; yīn nǐ wèi wǒ zuò de jiàn zhèng , zhè lǐ de rén bì bù lǐng shòu 。』

and saw him saying to me, ‘Hurry and get out of Jerusalem quickly, because they will not receive testimony concerning me from you.’

:『

wǒ jiù shuō :『 zhǔ a , tā men zhī dào wǒ cóng qián bǎ xìn nǐ de rén shōu zài jiān lǐ , yòu zài gè huì táng lǐ biān dǎ tā men 。

I said, ‘Lord, they themselves know that I imprisoned and beat in every synagogue those who believed in you.

。』

bìng qiě nǐ de jiàn zhèng rén sī tí fǎn bèi hài liú xuè de shí hòu , wǒ yě zhàn zài páng biān huān xǐ ; yòu kān shǒu hài sǐ tā zhī rén de yī shang 。』

When the blood of Stephen, your witness, was shed, I also was standing by, consenting to his death, and guarding the cloaks of those who killed him.’

zhǔ xiàng wǒ shuō :『 nǐ qù ba ! wǒ yào chà nǐ yuǎn yuǎn dì wǎng wài bāng rén nà lǐ qù 。』」

“He said to me, ‘Depart, for I will send you out far from here to the Gentiles.’ ”

zhòng rén tīng tā shuō dào zhè jù huà , jiù gāo shēng shuō :「 zhè yàng de rén , cóng shì shàng chú diào tā ba ! tā shì bù dāng huó zhe de 。」

They listened to him until he said that; then they lifted up their voice and said, “Rid the earth of this fellow, for he isn’t fit to live!”

zhòng rén xuān rǎng , shuāi diào yī shang , bǎ chén tǔ xiàng kōng zhōng yáng qǐ lái 。

As they cried out, threw off their cloaks, and threw dust into the air,

qiān fū cháng jiù fēn fù jiāng bǎo luó dài jìn yíng lóu qù , jiào rén yòng biān zǐ kǎo wèn tā , yào zhī dào tā men xiàng tā zhè yàng xuān rǎng shì wèi shén me yuán gù 。

the commanding officer commanded him to be brought into the barracks, ordering him to be examined by scourging, that he might know for what crime they shouted against him like that.

gāng yòng pí tiáo kǔn shàng , bǎo luó duì páng biān zhàn zhe de bǎi fū zhǎng shuō :「 rén shì luó mǎ rén , yòu méi yǒu dìng zuì , nǐ men jiù biān dǎ tā , yǒu zhè ge lì ma ?」

When they had tied him up with straps, Paul asked the centurion who stood by, “Is it lawful for you to scourge a man who is a Roman, and not found guilty?”

bǎi fū zhǎng tīng jiàn zhè huà , jiù qù jiàn qiān fū cháng , gào sù tā shuō :「 nǐ yào zuò shén me ? zhè rén shì luó mǎ rén 。」

When the centurion heard it, he went to the commanding officer and told him, “Watch what you are about to do, for this man is a Roman!”

qiān fū cháng jiù lái wèn bǎo luó shuō :「 nǐ gào sù wǒ , nǐ shì luó mǎ rén ma ?」 bǎo luó shuō :「 shì 。」

The commanding officer came and asked him, “Tell me, are you a Roman?” He said, “Yes.”

qiān fū cháng shuō :「 wǒ yòng xǔ duō yín zi cái rù le luó mǎ de mín jí 。」 bǎo luó shuō :「 wǒ shēng lái jiù shì 。」

The commanding officer answered, “I bought my citizenship for a great price.” Paul said, “But I was born a Roman.”

yú shì nà xiē yào kǎo wèn bǎo luó de rén jiù lí kāi tā qù le 。 qiān fū cháng jì zhī dào tā shì luó mǎ rén , yòu yīn wèi kǔn bǎng le tā , yě hài pà le 。

Immediately those who were about to examine him departed from him, and the commanding officer also was afraid when he realized that he was a Roman, because he had bound him.

dì èr tiān , qiān fū cháng wèi yào zhī dào yóu tài rén kòng gào bǎo luó de shí qíng , biàn jiě kāi tā , fēn fù jì sī zhǎng hé quán gōng huì de rén dōu jù jí , jiāng bǎo luó dài xià lái , jiào tā zhàn zài tā men miàn qián 。

But on the next day, desiring to know the truth about why he was accused by the Jews, he freed him from the bonds and commanded the chief priests and all the council to come together, and brought Paul down and set him before them.
