dà jì sī jiù shuō :「 zhè xiē shì guǒ rán yǒu ma ?」

The high priest said, “Are these things so?”

:「耀

sī tí fǎn shuō :「 zhū wèi fù xiōng qǐng tīng ! dāng rì wǒ men de zǔ zōng yà bó lā hǎn zài měi suǒ bù dá mǐ yà hái wèi zhù hā lán de shí hòu , róng yào de shén xiàng tā xiǎn xiàn ,

He said, “Brothers and fathers, listen. The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he lived in Haran,

:『。』

duì tā shuō :『 nǐ yào lí kāi běn dì hé qīn zú , wǎng wǒ suǒ yào zhǐ shì nǐ de dì fāng qù 。』

and said to him, ‘Get out of your land and away from your relatives, and come into a land which I will show you.’

使

tā jiù lí kāi jiā lè dǐ rén zhī dì , zhù zài hā lán 。 tā fù qīn sǐ le yǐ hòu , shén shǐ tā cóng nà lǐ bān dào nǐ men xiàn zài suǒ zhù zhī dì 。

Then he came out of the land of the Chaldaeans and lived in Haran. From there, when his father was dead, God moved him into this land where you are now living.

zài zhè dì fāng , shén bìng méi yǒu gěi tā chǎn yè , lián lì zú zhī dì yě méi yǒu gěi tā ; dàn yìng xǔ yào jiāng zhè dì cì gěi tā hé tā de hòu yì wèi yè ; nà shí tā hái méi yǒu ér zi 。

He gave him no inheritance in it, no, not so much as to set his foot on. He promised that he would give it to him for a possession, and to his offspring after him, when he still had no child.

shén shuō :『 tā de hòu yì bì jì jū wài bāng , nà lǐ de rén yào jiào tā men zuò nú pú , kǔ dài tā men sì bǎi nián 。』

God spoke in this way: that his offspring would live as aliens in a strange land, and that they would be enslaved and mistreated for four hundred years.

:『使。』

shén yòu shuō :『 shǐ tā men zuò nú pú de nà guó , wǒ yào chéng fá 。 yǐ hòu tā men yào chū lái , zài zhè dì fāng shì fèng wǒ 。』

‘I will judge the nation to which they will be in bondage,’ said God, ‘and after that they will come out and serve me in this place.’

shén yòu cì tā gē lǐ de yuē 。 yú shì yà bó lā hǎn shēng le yǐ sā , dì bā rì gěi tā xíng le gē lǐ 。 yǐ sā shēng yǎ gè ; yǎ gè shēng shí èr wèi xiān zǔ 。

He gave him the covenant of circumcision. So Abraham became the father of Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day. Isaac became the father of Jacob, and Jacob became the father of the twelve patriarchs.

「 xiān zǔ jí dù yuē sè , bǎ tā mài dào āi jí qù ; shén què yǔ tā tóng zài ,

“The patriarchs, moved with jealousy against Joseph, sold him into Egypt. God was with him

jiù tā tuō lí yí qiè kǔ nàn , yòu shǐ tā zài āi jí wáng fǎ lǎo miàn qián dé ēn diǎn , yǒu zhì huì 。 fǎ lǎo jiù pài tā zuò āi jí guó de zǎi xiàng jiān guǎn quán jiā 。

and delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favor and wisdom before Pharaoh, king of Egypt. He made him governor over Egypt and all his house.

hòu lái āi jí hé jiā nán quán dì zāo yù jī huāng , dà shòu jiān nán , wǒ men de zǔ zōng jiù jué le liáng 。

Now a famine came over all the land of Egypt and Canaan, and great affliction. Our fathers found no food.

yǎ gè tīng jiàn zài āi jí yǒu liáng , jiù dǎ fā wǒ men de zǔ zōng chū cì wǎng nà lǐ qù 。

But when Jacob heard that there was grain in Egypt, he sent out our fathers the first time.

dì èr cì yuē sè yǔ dì xiong men xiāng rèn , tā de qīn zú yě bèi fǎ lǎo zhī dào le 。

On the second time Joseph was made known to his brothers, and Joseph’s family was revealed to Pharaoh.

yuē sè jiù dǎ fā dì xiong qǐng fù qīn yǎ gè hé quán jiā qī shí wǔ gè rén dōu lái 。

Joseph sent and summoned Jacob his father and all his relatives, seventy-five souls.

yú shì yǎ gè xià le āi jí , hòu lái tā hé wǒ men de zǔ zōng dōu sǐ zài nà lǐ ;

Jacob went down into Egypt and he died, himself and our fathers;

yòu bèi dài dào shì jiàn , zàng yú yà bó lā hǎn zài shì jiàn yòng yín zi cóng hā mǒ zǐ sūn mǎi lái de fén mù lǐ 。

and they were brought back to Shechem and laid in the tomb that Abraham bought for a price in silver from the children of Hamor of Shechem.

「 jí zhì shén yīng xǔ yà bó lā hǎn de rì qī jiāng dào , yǐ sè liè mín zài āi jí xīng shèng zhòng duō ,

“But as the time of the promise came close which God had sworn to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,

zhí dào yǒu bù xiǎo de yuē sè de xīn wáng xīng qǐ 。

until there arose a different king who didn’t know Joseph.

使

tā yòng guǐ jì dài wǒ men de zōng zú , kǔ hài wǒ men de zǔ zōng , jiào tā men diū qì yīng hái , shǐ yīng hái bù néng cún huó 。

The same took advantage of our race and mistreated our fathers, and forced them to abandon their babies, so that they wouldn’t stay alive.

nà shí , mó xī shēng xià lái , jùn měi fēi fán , zài tā fù qìng jia lǐ fǔ yǎng le sān gè yuè 。

At that time Moses was born, and was exceedingly handsome to God. He was nourished three months in his father’s house.

tā bèi diū qì de shí hòu , fǎ lǎo de nǚ ér shí le qù , yǎng wèi zì jǐ de ér zi 。

When he was abandoned, Pharaoh’s daughter took him up and reared him as her own son.

mó xī xué le āi jí rén yí qiè de xué wèn , shuō huà xíng shì dōu yǒu cái néng 。

Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians. He was mighty in his words and works.

「 tā jiāng dào sì shí suì , xīn zhōng qǐ yì qù kàn wàng tā de dì xiong yǐ sè liè rén ;

But when he was forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brothers, the children of Israel.

dào le nà lǐ , jiàn tā men yí gè rén shòu yuān qū , jiù hù bì tā , wèi nà shòu qī yā de rén bào chóu , dǎ sǐ le nà āi jí rén 。

Seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended him and avenged him who was oppressed, striking the Egyptian.

tā yǐ wèi dì xiong bì míng bái shén shì jiè tā de shǒu dā jiù tā men ; tā men què bù míng bái 。

He supposed that his brothers understood that God, by his hand, was giving them deliverance; but they didn’t understand.

dì èr tiān , yù jiàn liǎng gè yǐ sè liè rén zhēng dòu , jiù quàn tā men hé mù , shuō :『 nǐ men èr wèi shì dì xiong , wèi shén me bǐ cǐ qī fù ne ?』

“The day following, he appeared to them as they fought, and urged them to be at peace again, saying, ‘Sirs, you are brothers. Why do you wrong one another?’

:『

nà qī fù lín shè de bǎ tā tuī kāi , shuō :『 shuí lì nǐ zuò wǒ men de shǒu lǐng hé shěn pàn guān ne ?

But he who did his neighbor wrong pushed him away, saying, ‘Who made you a ruler and a judge over us?

?』

nán dào nǐ yào shā wǒ , xiàng zuó tiān shā nà āi jí rén ma ?』

Do you want to kill me as you killed the Egyptian yesterday?’

mó xī tīng jiàn zhè huà jiù táo zǒu le , jì jū yú mǐ diàn ; zài nà lǐ shēng le liǎng gè ér zi 。

Moses fled at this saying, and became a stranger in the land of Midian, where he became the father of two sons.

「 guò le sì shí nián , zài xī nài shān de kuàng yě , yǒu yí wèi tiān shǐ cóng jīng jí huǒ yàn zhōng xiàng mó xī xiǎn xiàn 。

“When forty years were fulfilled, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in the wilderness of Mount Sinai, in a flame of fire in a bush.

mó xī jiàn le nà yì xiàng , biàn jué xī qí , zhèng jìn qián guān kàn de shí hòu , yǒu zhǔ de shēng yīn shuō :

When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight. As he came close to see, the voice of the Lord came to him,

。』西

『 wǒ shì nǐ liè zǔ de shén , jiù shì yà bó lā hǎn de shén , yǐ sā de shén , yǎ gè de shén 。』 mó xī zhàn zhàn jīng jīng , bù gǎn guān kàn 。

‘I am the God of your fathers: the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ Moses trembled and dared not look.

:『

zhǔ duì tā shuō :『 bǎ nǐ jiǎo shàng de xié tuō xià lái , yīn wèi nǐ suǒ zhàn zhī dì shì shèng dì 。

The Lord said to him, ‘Take off your sandals, for the place where you stand is holy ground.

。』

wǒ de bǎi xìng zài āi jí suǒ shòu de kùn kǔ , wǒ shí zài kàn jiàn le , tā men bēi tàn de shēng yīn , wǒ yě tīng jiàn le 。 wǒ xià lái yào jiù tā men 。 nǐ lái ! wǒ yào chà nǐ wǎng āi jí qù 。』

I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt, and have heard their groaning. I have come down to deliver them. Now come, I will send you into Egypt.’

zhè mó xī jiù shì bǎi xìng qì jué shuō 『 shuí lì nǐ zuò wǒ men de shǒu lǐng hé shěn pàn guān 』 de ; shén què jiè nà zài jīng jí zhōng xiǎn xiàn zhī shǐ zhě de shǒu chà pài tā zuò shǒu lǐng 、 zuò jiù shú de 。

“This Moses whom they refused, saying, ‘Who made you a ruler and a judge?’—God has sent him as both a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel who appeared to him in the bush.

zhè rén lǐng bǎi xìng chū lái , zài āi jí , zài hóng hǎi , zài kuàng yě , sì shí nián jiān xíng le qí shì shén jì 。

This man led them out, having worked wonders and signs in Egypt, in the Red Sea, and in the wilderness for forty years.

nà céng duì yǐ sè liè rén shuō 『 shén yào cóng nǐ men dì xiōng zhōng jiān gěi nǐ men xīng qǐ yí wèi xiān zhī xiàng wǒ 』 de , jiù shì zhè wèi mó xī 。

This is that Moses who said to the children of Israel, ‘The Lord our God will raise up a prophet for you from among your brothers, like me.’

zhè rén céng zài kuàng yě huì zhōng hé xī nài shān shàng , yǔ nà duì tā shuō huà de tiān shǐ tóng zài , yòu yǔ wǒ men de zǔ zōng tóng zài , bìng qiě lǐng shòu huó pō de shèng yán chuán gěi wǒ men 。

This is he who was in the assembly in the wilderness with the angel that spoke to him on Mount Sinai, and with our fathers, who received living revelations to give to us,

wǒ men de zǔ zōng bù kěn tīng cóng , fǎn qì jué tā , xīn lǐ guī xiàng āi jí ,

to whom our fathers wouldn’t be obedient, but rejected him and turned back in their hearts to Egypt,

:『西。』

duì yà lún shuō :『 nǐ qiě wèi wǒ men zào xiē shén xiàng , zài wǒ men qián miàn yǐn lù ; yīn wèi lǐng wǒ men chū āi jí dì de nà ge mó xī , wǒ men bù zhī dào tā zāo le shén me shì 。』

saying to Aaron, ‘Make us gods that will go before us, for as for this Moses who led us out of the land of Egypt, we don’t know what has become of him.’

nà shí , tā men zào le yí gè niú dú , yòu ná jì wù xiàn gěi nà xiàng , huān xǐ zì jǐ shǒu zhōng de gōng zuò 。

They made a calf in those days, and brought a sacrifice to the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their hands.

shén jiù zhuǎn liǎn bú gù , rèn píng tā men shì fèng tiān shàng de rì yuè xīng chén , zhèng rú xiān zhī shū shàng suǒ xiě de shuō : yǐ sè liè jiā a , nǐ men sì shí nián jiān zài kuàng yě , qǐ shì jiāng xī shēng hé jì wù xiàn gěi wǒ ma ?

But God turned away and gave them up to serve the army of the sky, as it is written in the book of the prophets, ‘Did you offer to me slain animals and sacrifices forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?

nǐ men tái zhe mó luò de zhàng mù hé lǐ fān shén de xīng , jiù shì nǐ men suǒ zào wèi yào jìng bài de xiàng 。 yīn cǐ , wǒ yào bǎ nǐ men qiān dào bā bǐ lún wài qù 。

You took up the tabernacle of Moloch, the star of your god Rephan, the figures which you made to worship, so I will carry you away beyond Babylon.’

「 wǒ men de zǔ zōng zài kuàng yě , yǒu fǎ guì de zhàng mù , shì shén fēn fù mó xī jiào tā zhào suǒ kàn jiàn de yàng shì zuò de 。

“Our fathers had the tabernacle of the testimony in the wilderness, even as he who spoke to Moses commanded him to make it according to the pattern that he had seen;

zhè zhàng mù , wǒ men de zǔ zōng xiāng jì chéng shòu 。 dāng shén zài tā men miàn qián gǎn chū wài bāng rén qù de shí hòu , tā men tóng yuē shū yà bǎ zhàng mù bān jìn chéng shòu wèi yè zhī dì , zhí cún dào dà wèi de rì zi 。

which also our fathers, in their turn, brought in with Joshua when they entered into the possession of the nations whom God drove out before the face of our fathers to the days of David,

dà wèi zài shén miàn qián méng ēn , qí qiú wèi yǎ gè de shén yù bèi jū suǒ ;

who found favor in the sight of God, and asked to find a habitation for the God of Jacob.

殿

què shì suǒ luó mén wèi shén zào chéng diàn yǔ 。

But Solomon built him a house.

qí shí , zhì gāo zhě bìng bú zhù rén shǒu suǒ zào de , jiù rú xiān zhī suǒ yán :

However, the Most High doesn’t dwell in temples made with hands, as the prophet says,

殿

zhǔ shuō : tiān shì wǒ de zuò wèi , dì shì wǒ de jiǎo dèng ; nǐ men yào wèi wǒ zào hé děng de diàn yǔ ? nǎ lǐ shì wǒ ān xī de dì fāng ne ?

‘heaven is my throne, and the earth a footstool for my feet. What kind of house will you build me?’ says the Lord. ‘Or what is the place of my rest?

zhè yí qiè bù dōu shì wǒ shǒu suǒ zào de ma ?

Didn’t my hand make all these things?’

「 nǐ men zhè yìng zhe jǐng xiàng 、 xīn yǔ ěr wèi shòu gē lǐ de rén , cháng shí kàng jù shèng líng ! nǐ men de zǔ zōng zěn yàng , nǐ men yě zěn yàng 。

“You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit! As your fathers did, so you do.

nǎ yí gè xiān zhī bú shì nǐ men zǔ zōng bī pò ne ? tā men yě bǎ yù xiān chuán shuō nà yì zhě yào lái de rén shā le ; rú jīn nǐ men yòu bǎ nà yì zhě mài le , shā le 。

Which of the prophets didn’t your fathers persecute? They killed those who foretold the coming of the Righteous One, of whom you have now become betrayers and murderers.

使。」

nǐ men shòu le tiān shǐ suǒ chuán de lǜ fǎ , jìng bù zūn shǒu 。」

You received the law as it was ordained by angels, and didn’t keep it!”

齿

zhòng rén tīng jiàn zhè huà jiù jí qí nǎo nù , xiàng sī tí fǎn yǎo yá qiè chǐ 。

Now when they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed at him with their teeth.

耀

dàn sī tí fǎn bèi shèng líng chōng mǎn , dìng jīng wàng tiān , kàn jiàn shén de róng yào , yòu kàn jiàn yē sū zhàn zài shén de yòu biān ,

But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, looked up steadfastly into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,

:「 。」

jiù shuō :「 wǒ kàn jiàn tiān kāi le , rén zǐ zhàn zài shén de yòu biān 。」

and said, “Behold, I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!”

zhòng rén dà shēng hǎn jiào , wǔ zhe ěr duo , qí xīn yōng shàng qián qù ,

But they cried out with a loud voice and stopped their ears, then rushed at him with one accord.

bǎ tā tuī dào chéng wài , yòng shí tou dǎ tā 。 zuò jiàn zhèng de rén bǎ yī shang fàng zài yí gè shào nián rén míng jiào sǎo luó de jiǎo qián 。

They threw him out of the city and stoned him. The witnesses placed their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul.

tā men zhèng yòng shí tou dǎ de shí hòu , sī tí fǎn hū yù zhǔ shuō :「 qiú zhǔ yē sū jiē shōu wǒ de líng hún !」

They stoned Stephen as he called out, saying, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!”

:「!」

yòu guì xià dà shēng hǎn zhe shuō :「 zhǔ a , bú yào jiāng zhè zuì guī yú tā men !」 shuō le zhè huà , jiù shuì le 。 sǎo luó yě xǐ yuè tā bèi hài 。

He kneeled down and cried with a loud voice, “Lord, don’t hold this sin against them!” When he had said this, he fell asleep.
