yà bó lā hǎn nián jì lǎo mài , xiàng lái zài yí qiè shì shàng yē hé huá dōu cì fú gěi tā 。

Abraham was old, and well advanced in age. The LORD had blessed Abraham in all things.

:「

yà bó lā hǎn duì guǎn lǐ tā quán yè zuì lǎo de pú rén shuō :「 qǐng nǐ bǎ shǒu fàng zài wǒ dà tuǐ dǐ xià 。

Abraham said to his servant, the elder of his house, who ruled over all that he had, “Please put your hand under my thigh.

wǒ yào jiào nǐ zhǐ zhe yē hé huá — tiān dì de zhǔ qǐ shì , bú yào wèi wǒ ér zi qǔ zhè jiā nán dì zhōng de nǚ zǐ wèi qī 。

I will make you swear by the LORD, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that you shall not take a wife for my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I live.

。」

nǐ yào wǎng wǒ běn dì běn zú qù , wèi wǒ de ér zi yǐ sā qǔ yí gè qī zǐ 。」

But you shall go to my country, and to my relatives, and take a wife for my son Isaac.”

pú rén duì tā shuō :「 tǎng ruò nǚ zǐ bù kěn gēn wǒ dào zhè dì fāng lái , wǒ bì xū jiāng nǐ de ér zi dài huí nǐ yuán chū zhī dì ma ?」

The servant said to him, “What if the woman isn’t willing to follow me to this land? Must I bring your son again to the land you came from?”

yà bó lā hǎn duì tā shuō :「 nǐ yào jǐn shèn , bú yào dài wǒ de ér zi huí nà lǐ qù 。

Abraham said to him, “Beware that you don’t bring my son there again.

yē hé huá — tiān shàng de zhǔ céng dài lǐng wǒ lí kāi fù jiā hé běn zú de dì , duì wǒ shuō huà , xiàng wǒ qǐ shì shuō :『 wǒ yào jiāng zhè dì cì gěi nǐ de hòu yì 。』 tā bì chà qiǎn shǐ zhě zài nǐ miàn qián , nǐ jiù kě yǐ cóng nà lǐ wèi wǒ ér zi qǔ yí gè qī zǐ 。

The LORD, the God of heaven—who took me from my father’s house, and from the land of my birth, who spoke to me, and who swore to me, saying, ‘I will give this land to your offspring—he will send his angel before you, and you shall take a wife for my son from there.

使。」

tǎng ruò nǚ zǐ bù kěn gēn nǐ lái , wǒ shǐ nǐ qǐ de shì jiù yǔ nǐ wú gān le , zhǐ shì bù kě dài wǒ de ér zi huí nà lǐ qù 。」

If the woman isn’t willing to follow you, then you shall be clear from this oath to me. Only you shall not bring my son there again.”

pú rén jiù bǎ shǒu fàng zài tā zhǔ rén yà bó lā hǎn de dà tuǐ dǐ xià , wèi zhè shì xiàng tā qǐ shì 。

The servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master, and swore to him concerning this matter.

nà pú rén cóng tā zhǔ rén de luò tuó lǐ qǔ le shí pǐ luò tuó , bìng dài xiē tā zhǔ rén gè yàng de cái wù , qǐ shēn wǎng měi suǒ bù dá mǐ yà qù , dào le ná hè de chéng 。

The servant took ten of his master’s camels, and departed, having a variety of good things of his master’s with him. He arose, and went to Mesopotamia, to the city of Nahor.

便

tiān jiāng wǎn , zhòng nǚ zǐ chū lái dǎ shuǐ de shí hòu , tā biàn jiào luò tuó guì zài chéng wài de shuǐ jǐng nà lǐ 。

He made the camels kneel down outside the city by the well of water at the time of evening, the time that women go out to draw water.

tā shuō :「 yē hé huá — wǒ zhǔ rén yà bó lā hǎn de shén a , qiú nǐ shī ēn gěi wǒ zhǔ rén yà bó lā hǎn , shǐ wǒ jīn rì yù jiàn hǎo jī huì 。

He said, “LORD, the God of my master Abraham, please give me success today, and show kindness to my master Abraham.

wǒ xiàn jīn zhàn zài jǐng páng , chéng nèi jū mín de nǚ zǐ men zhèng chū lái dǎ shuǐ 。

Behold, I am standing by the spring of water. The daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water.

wǒ xiàng nà yí gè nǚ zǐ shuō :『 qǐng nǐ ná xià shuǐ píng lái , gěi wǒ shuǐ hē 』, tā ruò shuō :『 qǐng hē ! wǒ yě gěi nǐ de luò tuó hē 。』 yuàn nà nǚ zǐ jiù zuò nǐ suǒ yù dìng gěi nǐ pú rén yǐ sā de qī 。 zhè yàng , wǒ biàn zhī dào nǐ shī ēn gěi wǒ zhǔ rén le 。」

Let it happen, that the young lady to whom I will say, ‘Please let down your pitcher, that I may drink,’ then she says, ‘Drink, and I will also give your camels a drink,’—let her be the one you have appointed for your servant Isaac. By this I will know that you have shown kindness to my master.”

huà hái méi yǒu shuō wán , bú liào , lì bǎi jiā jiān tóu shàng káng zhe shuǐ píng chū lái 。 lì bǎi jiā shì bǐ tǔ lì suǒ shēng de ; bǐ tǔ lì shì yà bó lā hǎn xiōng dì ná hè qī zǐ mì jiā de ér zi 。

Before he had finished speaking, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel the son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham’s brother, with her pitcher on her shoulder.

nà nǚ zǐ róng mào jí qí jùn měi , hái shì chǔ nǚ , yě wèi céng yǒu rén qīn jìn tā 。 tā xià dào jǐng páng , dǎ mǎn le píng , yòu shàng lái 。

The young lady was very beautiful to look at, a virgin. No man had known her. She went down to the spring, filled her pitcher, and came up.

pú rén pǎo shàng qián qù yíng zhe tā , shuō :「 qiú nǐ jiāng píng lǐ de shuǐ gěi wǒ yì diǎn hē 。」

The servant ran to meet her, and said, “Please give me a drink, a little water from your pitcher.”

:「!」

nǚ zǐ shuō :「 wǒ zhǔ qǐng hē !」 jiù jí máng ná xià píng lái , tuō zài shǒu shàng gěi tā hē 。

She said, “Drink, my lord.” She hurried, and let down her pitcher on her hand, and gave him a drink.

nǚ zǐ gěi tā hē le , jiù shuō :「 wǒ zài wèi nǐ de luò tuó dǎ shuǐ , jiào luò tuó yě hē zú 。」

When she had finished giving him a drink, she said, “I will also draw for your camels, until they have finished drinking.”

tā jiù jí máng bǎ píng lǐ de shuǐ dǎo zài cáo lǐ , yòu pǎo dào jǐng páng dǎ shuǐ , jiù wèi suǒ yǒu de luò tuó dǎ shàng shuǐ lái 。

She hurried, and emptied her pitcher into the trough, and ran again to the well to draw, and drew for all his camels.

nà rén dìng jīng kàn tā , yí jù huà yě bù shuō , yào xiǎo de yē hé huá cì tā tōng dá de dào lù méi yǒu 。

The man looked steadfastly at her, remaining silent, to know whether the LORD had made his journey prosperous or not.

luò tuó hē zú le , nà rén jiù ná yí gè jīn huán , zhòng bàn shè kè lè , liǎng gè jīn zhuó , zhòng shí shè kè lè , gěi le nà nǚ zǐ ,

As the camels had finished drinking, the man took a golden ring of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands of ten shekels weight of gold,

:「宿?」

shuō :「 qǐng gào sù wǒ , nǐ shì shuí de nǚ ér ? nǐ fù qìng jia lǐ yǒu wǒ men zhù sù de dì fāng méi yǒu ?」

and said, “Whose daughter are you? Please tell me. Is there room in your father’s house for us to stay?”

:「」;

nǚ zǐ shuō :「 wǒ shì mì jiā yǔ ná hè zhī zǐ bǐ tǔ lì de nǚ ér 」;

She said to him, “I am the daughter of Bethuel the son of Milcah, whom she bore to Nahor.”

:「宿。」

yòu shuō :「 wǒ men jiā lǐ zú yǒu liáng cǎo , yě yǒu zhù sù de dì fāng 。」

She said moreover to him, “We have both straw and feed enough, and room to lodge in.”

nà rén jiù dī tóu xiàng yē hé huá xià bài ,

The man bowed his head, and worshiped the LORD.

:「 。」

shuō :「 yē hé huá — wǒ zhǔ rén yà bó lā hǎn de shén shì yīng dāng chēng sòng de , yīn tā bú duàn dì yǐ cí ài chéng shí dài wǒ zhǔ rén 。 zhì yú wǒ , yē hé huá zài lù shang yǐn lǐng wǒ , zhí zǒu dào wǒ zhǔ rén de xiōng dì jiā lǐ 。」

He said, “Blessed be the LORD, the God of my master Abraham, who has not forsaken his loving kindness and his truth toward my master. As for me, the LORD has led me on the way to the house of my master’s relatives.”

nǚ zǐ pǎo huí qù , zhào zhe zhè xiē huà gào sù tā mǔ qīn hé tā jiā lǐ de rén 。

The young lady ran, and told her mother’s house about these words.

lì bǎi jiā yǒu yí gè gē ge , míng jiào lā bān , kàn jiàn jīn huán , yòu kàn jiàn jīn zhuó zài tā mèi zǐ de shǒu shàng , bìng tīng jiàn tā mèi zǐ lì bǎi jiā de huà , shuō nà rén duì wǒ rú cǐ rú cǐ shuō 。 lā bān jiù pǎo chū lái wǎng jǐng páng qù , dào nà rén gēn qián , jiàn tā réng zhàn zài luò tuó páng biān de jǐng páng nà lǐ ,

Rebekah had a brother, and his name was Laban. Laban ran out to the man, to the spring.

When he saw the ring, and the bracelets on his sister’s hands, and when he heard the words of Rebekah his sister, saying, “This is what the man said to me,” he came to the man. Behold, he was standing by the camels at the spring.

便:「。」

biàn duì tā shuō :「 nǐ zhè méng yē hé huá cì fú de , qǐng jìn lái , wèi shén me zhàn zài wài biān ? wǒ yǐ jīng shōu shí le fáng wū , yě wèi luò tuó yù bèi le dì fāng 。」

He said, “Come in, you blessed of the LORD. Why do you stand outside? For I have prepared the house, and room for the camels.”

nà rén jiù jìn le lā bān de jiā 。 lā bān xiè le luò tuó , yòng cǎo liào wèi shàng , ná shuǐ gěi nà rén hé gēn suí de rén xǐ jiǎo ;

The man came into the house, and he unloaded the camels. He gave straw and feed for the camels, and water to wash his feet and the feet of the men who were with him.

bǎ fàn bǎi zài tā miàn qián , jiào tā chī , tā què shuō :「 wǒ bù chī , děng wǒ shuō míng bái wǒ de shì qíng zài chī 。」 lā bān shuō :「 qǐng shuō 。」

Food was set before him to eat, but he said, “I will not eat until I have told my message.” Laban said, “Speak on.”

:「

tā shuō :「 wǒ shì yà bó lā hǎn de pú rén 。

He said, “I am Abraham’s servant.

使

yē hé huá dà dà dì cì fú gěi wǒ zhǔ rén , shǐ tā chāng dà , yòu cì gěi tā yáng qún 、 niú qún 、 jīn yín 、 pú bì 、 luò tuó , hé lǘ 。

The LORD has blessed my master greatly. He has become great. The LORD has given him flocks and herds, silver and gold, male servants and female servants, and camels and donkeys.

wǒ zhǔ rén de qī zǐ sā lā nián lǎo de shí hòu gěi wǒ zhǔ rén shēng le yí gè ér zi ; wǒ zhǔ rén yě jiāng yí qiè suǒ yǒu de dōu gěi le zhè ge ér zi 。

Sarah, my master’s wife, bore a son to my master when she was old. He has given all that he has to him.

:『

wǒ zhǔ rén jiào wǒ qǐ shì shuō :『 nǐ bú yào wèi wǒ ér zi qǔ jiā nán dì de nǚ zǐ wèi qī 。

My master made me swear, saying, ‘You shall not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I live,

。』

nǐ yào wǎng wǒ fù jiā 、 wǒ běn zú nà lǐ qù , wèi wǒ de ér zi qǔ yí gè qī zǐ 。』

but you shall go to my father’s house, and to my relatives, and take a wife for my son.’

wǒ duì wǒ zhǔ rén shuō :『 kǒng pà nǚ zǐ bù kěn gēn wǒ lái 。』

I asked my master, ‘What if the woman will not follow me?’

:『使

tā jiù shuō :『 wǒ suǒ shì fèng de yē hé huá bì yào chāi qiǎn tā de shǐ zhě yǔ nǐ tóng qù , jiào nǐ de dào lù tōng dá , nǐ jiù dé yǐ zài wǒ fù jiā 、 wǒ běn zú nà lǐ , gěi wǒ de ér zi qǔ yí gè qī zǐ 。

He said to me, ‘The LORD, before whom I walk, will send his angel with you, and prosper your way. You shall take a wife for my son from my relatives, and of my father’s house.

使使。』

zhǐ yào nǐ dào le wǒ běn zú nà lǐ , wǒ shǐ nǐ qǐ de shì jiù yǔ nǐ wú gān 。 tā men ruò bù bǎ nǚ zǐ jiāo gěi nǐ , wǒ shǐ nǐ qǐ de shì yě yǔ nǐ wú gān 。』

Then you will be clear from my oath, when you come to my relatives. If they don’t give her to you, you shall be clear from my oath.’

便:『

「 wǒ jīn rì dào le jǐng páng , biàn shuō :『 yē hé huá — wǒ zhǔ rén yà bó lā hǎn de shén a , yuàn nǐ jiào wǒ suǒ xíng de dào lù tōng dá 。

I came today to the spring, and said, ‘The LORD, the God of my master Abraham, if now you do prosper my way which I go—

wǒ rú jīn zhàn zài jǐng páng , duì nǎ yí gè chū lái dǎ shuǐ de nǚ zǐ shuō : qǐng nǐ bǎ nǐ píng lǐ de shuǐ gěi wǒ yì diǎn hē ;

behold, I am standing by this spring of water. Let it happen, that the maiden who comes out to draw, to whom I will say, “Please give me a little water from your pitcher to drink,”

。』

tā ruò shuō : nǐ zhǐ guǎn hē , wǒ yě wèi nǐ de luò tuó dǎ shuǐ ; yuàn nà nǚ zǐ jiù zuò yē hé huá gěi wǒ zhǔ rén ér zi suǒ yù dìng de qī 。』

then she tells me, “Drink, and I will also draw for your camels,”—let her be the woman whom the LORD has appointed for my master’s son.’

便:『。』

wǒ xīn lǐ de huà hái méi yǒu shuō wán , lì bǎi jiā jiù chū lái , jiān tóu shàng káng zhe shuǐ píng , xià dào jǐng páng dǎ shuǐ 。 wǒ biàn duì tā shuō :『 qǐng nǐ gěi wǒ shuǐ hē 。』

Before I had finished speaking in my heart, behold, Rebekah came out with her pitcher on her shoulder. She went down to the spring, and drew. I said to her, ‘Please let me drink.’

:『。』便

tā jiù jí máng cóng jiān tóu shàng ná xià píng lái , shuō :『 qǐng hē ! wǒ yě gěi nǐ de luò tuó hē 。』 wǒ biàn hē le ; tā yòu gěi wǒ de luò tuó hē le 。

She hurried and let down her pitcher from her shoulder, and said, ‘Drink, and I will also give your camels a drink.’ So I drank, and she also gave the camels a drink.

wǒ wèn tā shuō :『 nǐ shì shuí de nǚ ér ?』 tā shuō :『 wǒ shì mì jiā yǔ ná hè zhī zǐ bǐ tǔ lì de nǚ ér 。』 wǒ jiù bǎ huán zǐ dài zài tā bí zi shàng , bǎ zhuó zǐ dài zài tā liǎng shǒu shàng 。

I asked her, and said, ‘Whose daughter are you?’ She said, ‘The daughter of Bethuel, Nahor’s son, whom Milcah bore to him.’ I put the ring on her nose, and the bracelets on her hands.

使

suí hòu wǒ dī tóu xiàng yē hé huá xià bài , chēng sòng yē hé huá — wǒ zhǔ rén yà bó lā hǎn de shén ; yīn wèi tā yǐn dǎo wǒ zǒu hé shì de dào lù , shǐ wǒ dé zhe wǒ zhǔ rén xiōng dì de sūn nǚ , gěi wǒ zhǔ rén de ér zi wèi qī 。

I bowed my head, and worshiped the LORD, and blessed the LORD, the God of my master Abraham, who had led me in the right way to take my master’s brother’s daughter for his son.

使。」

xiàn zài nǐ men ruò yuàn yǐ cí ài chéng shí dài wǒ zhǔ rén , jiù gào sù wǒ ; ruò bù rán , yě gào sù wǒ , shǐ wǒ kě yǐ huò xiàng zuǒ , huò xiàng yòu 。」

Now if you will deal kindly and truly with my master, tell me. If not, tell me, that I may turn to the right hand, or to the left.”

:「

lā bān hé bǐ tǔ lì huí dá shuō :「 zhè shì nǎi chū yú yē hé huá , wǒ men bù néng xiàng nǐ shuō hǎo shuō dǎi 。

Then Laban and Bethuel answered, “The thing proceeds from the LORD. We can’t speak to you bad or good.

。」

kàn nǎ , lì bǎi jiā zài nǐ miàn qián , kě yǐ jiāng tā dài qù , zhào zhe yē hé huá suǒ shuō de , gěi nǐ zhǔ rén de ér zi wèi qī 。」

Behold, Rebekah is before you. Take her, and go, and let her be your master’s son’s wife, as the LORD has spoken.”

yà bó lā hǎn de pú rén tīng jiàn tā men zhè huà , jiù xiàng yē hé huá fǔ fú zài dì 。

When Abraham’s servant heard their words, he bowed himself down to the earth to the LORD.

dāng xià pú rén ná chū jīn qì 、 yín qì , hé yī fu sòng gěi lì bǎi jiā , yòu jiāng bǎo wù sòng gěi tā gē ge hé tā mǔ qīn 。

The servant brought out jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and clothing, and gave them to Rebekah. He also gave precious things to her brother and her mother.

pú rén hé gēn cóng tā de rén chī le hē le , zhù le yí yè 。 zǎo chén qǐ lái , pú rén jiù shuō :「 qǐng dǎ fā wǒ huí wǒ zhǔ rén nà lǐ qù ba 。」

They ate and drank, he and the men who were with him, and stayed all night. They rose up in the morning, and he said, “Send me away to my master.”

lì bǎi jiā de gē ge hé tā mǔ qīn shuō :「 ràng nǚ zǐ tóng wǒ men zài zhù jǐ tiān , zhì shǎo shí tiān , rán hòu tā kě yǐ qù 。」

Her brother and her mother said, “Let the young lady stay with us a few days, at least ten. After that she will go.”

pú rén shuō :「 yē hé huá jì cì gěi wǒ tōng dá de dào lù , nǐ men bú yào dān wù wǒ , qǐng dǎ fā wǒ zǒu , huí wǒ zhǔ rén nà lǐ qù ba 。」

He said to them, “Don’t hinder me, since the LORD has prospered my way. Send me away that I may go to my master.”

tā men shuō :「 wǒ men bǎ nǚ zǐ jiào lái wèn wèn tā 」,

They said, “We will call the young lady, and ask her.”

jiù jiào le lì bǎi jiā lái , wèn tā shuō :「 nǐ hé zhè rén tóng qù ma ?」 lì bǎi jiā shuō :「 wǒ qù 。」

They called Rebekah, and said to her, “Will you go with this man?” She said, “I will go.”

yú shì tā men dǎ fā mèi zǐ lì bǎi jiā hé tā de rǔ mǔ , tóng yà bó lā hǎn de pú rén , bìng gēn cóng pú rén de , dōu zǒu le 。

They sent away Rebekah, their sister, with her nurse, Abraham’s servant, and his men.

tā men jiù gěi lì bǎi jiā zhù fú shuō : wǒ men de mèi zǐ a , yuàn nǐ zuò qiān wàn rén de mǔ ! yuàn nǐ de hòu yì dé zhe chóu dí de chéng mén !

They blessed Rebekah, and said to her, “Our sister, may you be the mother of thousands of ten thousands, and let your offspring possess the gate of those who hate them.”

使

lì bǎi jiā hé tā de shǐ nǚ men qǐ lái , qí shàng luò tuó , gēn zhe nà pú rén , pú rén jiù dài zhe lì bǎi jiā zǒu le 。

Rebekah arose with her ladies. They rode on the camels, and followed the man. The servant took Rebekah, and went his way.

Isaac came from the way of Beer Lahai Roi, for he lived in the land of the South.

Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the evening. He lifted up his eyes and looked. Behold, there were camels coming.

lì bǎi jiā jǔ mù kàn jiàn yǐ sā , jiù jí máng xià le luò tuó ,

Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she got off the camel.

wèn nà pú rén shuō :「 zhè tián jiān zǒu lái yíng jiē wǒ men de shì shuí ?」 pú rén shuō :「 shì wǒ de zhǔ rén 。」 lì bǎi jiā jiù ná pà zǐ méng shàng liǎn 。

She said to the servant, “Who is the man who is walking in the field to meet us?” The servant said, “It is my master.” She took her veil, and covered herself.

pú rén jiù jiāng suǒ bàn de yí qiè shì dōu gào sù yǐ sā 。

The servant told Isaac all the things that he had done.

便

yǐ sā biàn lǐng lì bǎi jiā jìn le tā mǔ qīn sā lā de zhàng péng , qǔ le tā wèi qī , bìng qiě ài tā 。 yǐ sā zì cóng tā mǔ qīn bú zài le , zhè cái dé le ān wèi 。

Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah’s tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife. He loved her. So Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death.
