wǒ zài jī dū lǐ shuō zhēn huà , bìng bù huǎng yán , yǒu wǒ liáng xīn bèi shèng líng gǎn dòng , gěi wǒ zuò jiàn zhèng :

I tell the truth in Christ. I am not lying, my conscience testifying with me in the Holy Spirit

wǒ shì dà yǒu yōu chóu , xīn lǐ shí cháng shāng tòng ;

that I have great sorrow and unceasing pain in my heart.

wèi wǒ dì xiong , wǒ gǔ ròu zhī qīn , jiù shì zì jǐ bèi zhòu zǔ , yǔ jī dū fēn lí , wǒ yě yuàn yì 。

For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brothers’ sake, my relatives according to the flesh

耀

tā men shì yǐ sè liè rén ; nà ér zǐ de míng fēn 、 róng yào 、 zhū yuē 、 lǜ fǎ 、 lǐ yí 、 yīng xǔ dōu shì tā men de 。

who are Israelites; whose is the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the service, and the promises;

liè zǔ jiù shì tā men de zǔ zōng ; àn ròu tǐ shuō , jī dū yě shì cóng tā men chū lái de 。 tā shì zài wàn yǒu zhī shàng , yǒng yuǎn kě chēng sòng de shén 。 ā men !

of whom are the fathers, and from whom is Christ as concerning the flesh, who is over all, God, blessed forever. Amen.

zhè bú shì shuō shén de huà luò le kōng 。 yīn wèi cóng yǐ sè liè shēng de bù dōu shì yǐ sè liè rén ,

But it is not as though the word of God has come to nothing. For they are not all Israel that are of Israel.

。」

yě bù yīn wèi shì yà bó lā hǎn de hòu yì jiù dōu zuò tā de ér nǚ ; wéi dú 「 cóng yǐ sā shēng de cái yào chēng wéi nǐ de hòu yì 。」

Neither, because they are Abraham’s offspring, are they all children. But, “your offspring will be accounted as from Isaac.”

zhè jiù shì shuō , ròu shēn suǒ shēng de ér nǚ bú shì shén de ér nǚ , wéi dú nà yīng xǔ de ér nǚ cái suàn shì hòu yì 。

That is, it is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as heirs.

yīn wèi suǒ yīng xǔ de huà shì zhè yàng shuō :「 dào míng nián zhè shí hòu wǒ yào lái , sā lā bì shēng yí gè ér zi 。」

For this is a word of promise: “At the appointed time I will come, and Sarah will have a son.”

怀,(

bú dàn rú cǐ , hái yǒu lì bǎi jiā , jì cóng yí gè rén , jiù shì cóng wǒ men de zǔ zōng yǐ sā huái le yùn ,(

Not only so, but Rebekah also conceived by one, by our father Isaac.

shuāng zǐ hái méi yǒu shēng xià lái , shàn è hái méi yǒu zuò chū lái , zhī yīn yào xiǎn míng shén jiǎn xuǎn rén de zhǐ yì , bú zài hu rén de xíng wéi , nǎi zài hū zhào rén de zhǔ 。)

For being not yet born, neither having done anything good or bad, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him who calls,

shén jiù duì lì bǎi jiā shuō :「 jiāng lái , dà de yào fú shì xiǎo de 。」

it was said to her, “The elder will serve the younger.”

zhèng rú jīng shàng suǒ jì : yǎ gè shì wǒ suǒ ài de ; yǐ sǎo shì wǒ suǒ è de 。

Even as it is written, “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.”

zhè yàng , wǒ men kě shuō shén me ne ? nán dào shén yǒu shén me bù gōng píng ma ? duàn hū méi yǒu !

What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? May it never be!

西

yīn tā duì mó xī shuō : wǒ yào lián mǐn shuí jiù lián mǐn shuí , yào ēn dài shuí jiù ēn dài shuí 。

For he said to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”

jù cǐ kàn lái , zhè bú zài hū nà dìng yì de , yě bú zài hu nà bēn pǎo de , zhī zài hū fā lián mǐn de shén 。

So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who has mercy.

:「使。」

yīn wèi jīng shàng yǒu huà xiàng fǎ lǎo shuō :「 wǒ jiāng nǐ xīng qǐ lái , tè yào zài nǐ shēn shàng zhāng xiǎn wǒ de quán néng , bìng yào shǐ wǒ de míng chuán biàn tiān xià 。」

For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I caused you to be raised up, that I might show in you my power, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”

rú cǐ kàn lái , shén yào lián mǐn shuí jiù lián mǐn shuí , yào jiào shuí gāng yìng jiù jiào shuí gāng yìng 。

So then, he has mercy on whom he desires, and he hardens whom he desires.

:「?」

zhè yàng , nǐ bì duì wǒ shuō :「 tā wèi shén me hái zhǐ zé rén ne ? yǒu shuí kàng jù tā de zhǐ yì ne ?」

You will say then to me, “Why does he still find fault? For who withstands his will?”

nǐ zhè ge rén nǎ , nǐ shì shuí , jìng gǎn xiàng shén qiáng zuǐ ne ? shòu zào zhī wù qǐ néng duì zào tā de shuō :「 nǐ wèi shén me zhè yàng zào wǒ ne ?」

But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed ask him who formed it, “Why did you make me like this?”

yáo jiàng nán dào méi yǒu quán bǐng cóng yì tuán ní lǐ ná yí kuài zuò chéng guì zhòng de qì mǐn , yòu ná yí kuài zuò chéng bēi jiàn de qì mǐn ma ?

Or hasn’t the potter a right over the clay, from the same lump to make one part a vessel for honor, and another for dishonor?

忿

tǎng ruò shén yào xiǎn míng tā de fèn nù , zhāng xiǎn tā de quán néng , jiù duō duō rěn nài kuān róng nà kě nù 、 yù bèi zāo huǐ miè de qì mǐn ,

What if God, willing to show his wrath and to make his power known, endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction,

耀耀

yòu yào jiāng tā fēng shèng de róng yào zhāng xiǎn zài nà méng lián mǐn 、 zǎo yù bèi dé róng yào de qì mǐn shàng 。

and that he might make known the riches of his glory on vessels of mercy, which he prepared beforehand for glory—

zhè qì mǐn jiù shì wǒ men bèi shén suǒ zhào de , bú dàn shì cóng yóu tài rén zhōng , yě shì cóng wài bāng rén zhōng 。 zhè yǒu shén me bù kě ne ?

us, whom he also called, not from the Jews only, but also from the Gentiles?

西」; 」。

jiù xiàng shén zài hé xī ā shū shàng shuō : nà běn lái bú shì wǒ zǐ mín de , wǒ yào chēng wéi 「 wǒ de zǐ mín 」; běn lái bú shì méng ài de , wǒ yào chēng wéi 「 méng ài de 」。

As he says also in Hosea, “I will call them ‘my people,’ which were not my people; and her ‘beloved,’ who was not beloved.”

」。

cóng qián zài shén me dì fāng duì tā men shuō : nǐ men bú shì wǒ de zǐ mín , jiāng lái jiù zài nà lǐ chēng tā men wèi 「 yǒng shēng shén de ér zi 」。

“It will be that in the place where it was said to them, ‘You are not my people,’ there they will be called ‘children of the living God.’”

:「

yǐ sài yà zhǐ zhe yǐ sè liè rén hǎn zhe shuō :「 yǐ sè liè rén suī duō rú hǎi shā , dé jiù de bú guò shì shèng xià de yú shù ;

Isaiah cries concerning Israel, “If the number of the children of Israel are as the sand of the sea, it is the remnant who will be saved;

。」

yīn wéi zhǔ yào zài shì shàng shī xíng tā de huà , jiào tā de huà dōu chéng quán , sù sù dì wán jié 。」

for he will finish the work and cut it short in righteousness, because the Lord will make a short work upon the earth.”

yòu rú yǐ sài yà xiān qián shuō guò : ruò bú shì wàn jūn zhī zhǔ gěi wǒ men cún liú yú zhǒng , wǒ men zǎo yǐ xiàng suǒ duō mǎ 、 é mó lā de yàng zi le 。

As Isaiah has said before, “Unless the Lord of Armies had left us a seed, we would have become like Sodom, and would have been made like Gomorrah.”

zhè yàng , wǒ men kě shuō shén me ne ? nà běn lái bù zhuī qiú yì de wài bāng rén fǎn dé le yì , jiù shì yīn xìn ér dé de yì 。

What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, who didn’t follow after righteousness, attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith;

dàn yǐ sè liè rén zhuī qiú lǜ fǎ de yì , fǎn dé bù zhe lǜ fǎ de yì 。

but Israel, following after a law of righteousness, didn’t arrive at the law of righteousness.

zhè shì shén me yuán gù ne ? shì yīn wèi tā men bù píng zhe xìn xīn qiú , zhī píng zhe xíng wéi qiú ; tā men zhèng diē zài nà bàn jiǎo shí shàng 。

Why? Because they didn’t seek it by faith, but as it were by works of the law. They stumbled over the stumbling stone,

jiù rú jīng shàng suǒ jì : wǒ zài xī ān fàng yí kuài bàn jiǎo de shí tou , diē rén de pán shí ; xìn kào tā de rén bì bú zhì yú xiū kuì 。

even as it is written, “Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and a rock of offense; and no one who believes in him will be disappointed.”
