過了一年，到列王出戰的時候，大衛又差派約押，率領臣僕和以色列眾人出戰。他們就打敗亞捫人，圍攻拉巴。大衛仍住在耶路撒冷。

guò le yì nián ， dào liè wáng chū zhàn de shí hòu ， dà wèi yòu chà pài yuē yā ， shuài lǐng chén pú hé yǐ sè liè zhòng rén chū zhàn 。 tā men jiù dǎ bài yà mén rén ， wéi gōng lā bā 。 dà wèi réng zhù zài yē lù sā lěng 。

At the return of the year, at the time when kings go out, David sent Joab and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon and besieged Rabbah. But David stayed at Jerusalem.

一日，太陽平西，大衛從床上起來，在王宮的平頂上遊行，看見一個婦人沐浴，容貌甚美，

yí rì ， tài yáng píng xī ， dà wèi cóng chuáng shàng qǐ lái ， zài wáng gōng de píng dǐng shàng yóu xíng ， kàn jiàn yí gè fù rén mù yù ， róng mào shèn měi ，

At evening, David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king’s house. From the roof, he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful to look at.

大衛就差人打聽那婦人是誰。有人說：「她是以連的女兒，赫人烏利亞的妻拔示巴。」

dà wèi jiù chà rén dǎ tīng nà fù rén shì shuí 。 yǒu rén shuō ：「 tā shì yǐ lián de nǚ ér ， hè rén wū lì yà de qī bá shì bā 。」

David sent and inquired after the woman. One said, “Isn’t this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, Uriah the Hittite’s wife?”

大衛差人去，將婦人接來；那時她的月經才得潔淨。她來了，大衛與她同房，她就回家去了。

dà wèi chà rén qù ， jiāng fù rén jiē lái ； nà shí tā de yuè jīng cái dé jié jìng 。 tā lái le ， dà wèi yǔ tā tóng fáng ， tā jiù huí jiā qù le 。

David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in to him, and he lay with her (for she was purified from her uncleanness); and she returned to her house.

於是她懷了孕，打發人去告訴大衛說：「我懷了孕。」

yú shì tā huái le yùn ， dǎ fā rén qù gào sù dà wèi shuō ：「 wǒ huái le yùn 。」

The woman conceived; and she sent and told David, and said, “I am with child.”

大衛差人到約押那裏，說：「你打發赫人烏利亞到我這裏來。」約押就打發烏利亞去見大衛。

dà wèi chà rén dào yuē yā nà lǐ ， shuō ：「 nǐ dǎ fā hè rén wū lì yà dào wǒ zhè lǐ lái 。」 yuē yā jiù dǎ fā wū lì yà qù jiàn dà wèi 。

David sent to Joab, “Send me Uriah the Hittite.” Joab sent Uriah to David.

烏利亞來了，大衛問約押好，也問兵好，又問爭戰的事怎樣。

wū lì yà lái le ， dà wèi wèn yuē yā hǎo ， yě wèn bīng hǎo ， yòu wèn zhēng zhàn de shì zěn yàng 。

When Uriah had come to him, David asked him how Joab did, and how the people fared, and how the war prospered.

大衛對烏利亞說：「你回家去，洗洗腳吧！」烏利亞出了王宮，隨後王送他一分食物。

dà wèi duì wū lì yà shuō ：「 nǐ huí jiā qù ， xǐ xǐ jiǎo ba ！」 wū lì yà chū le wáng gōng ， suí hòu wáng sòng tā yì fēn shí wù 。

David said to Uriah, “Go down to your house and wash your feet.” Uriah departed out of the king’s house, and a gift from the king was sent after him.

烏利亞卻和他主人的僕人一同睡在宮門外，沒有回家去。

wū lì yà què hé tā zhǔ rén de pú rén yì tóng shuì zài gōng mén wài ， méi yǒu huí jiā qù 。

But Uriah slept at the door of the king’s house with all the servants of his lord, and didn’t go down to his house.

有人告訴大衛說：「烏利亞沒有回家去。」大衛就問烏利亞說：「你從遠路上來，為甚麼不回家去呢？」

yǒu rén gào sù dà wèi shuō ：「 wū lì yà méi yǒu huí jiā qù 。」 dà wèi jiù wèn wū lì yà shuō ：「 nǐ cóng yuǎn lù shang lái ， wèi shén me bù huí jiā qù ne ？」

When they had told David, saying, “Uriah didn’t go down to his house,” David said to Uriah, “Haven’t you come from a journey? Why didn’t you go down to your house?”

烏利亞對大衛說：「約櫃和以色列與猶大兵都住在棚裏，我主約押和我主 的僕人都在田野安營，我豈可回家吃喝、與妻子同寢呢？我敢在王面前起誓 ：我決不行這事！」

wū lì yà duì dà wèi shuō ：「 yuē guì hé yǐ sè liè yǔ yóu dà bīng dōu zhù zài péng lǐ ， wǒ zhǔ yuē yā hé wǒ zhǔ de pú rén dōu zài tián yě ān yíng ， wǒ qǐ kě huí jiā chī hē 、 yǔ qī zǐ tóng qǐn ne ？ wǒ gǎn zài wáng miàn qián qǐ shì ： wǒ jué bù xíng zhè shì ！」

Uriah said to David, “The ark, Israel, and Judah, are staying in tents; and my lord Joab and the servants of my lord are encamped in the open field. Shall I then go into my house to eat and to drink, and to lie with my wife? As you live, and as your soul lives, I will not do this thing!”

大衛吩咐烏利亞說：「你今日仍住在這裏，明日我打發你去。」於是烏利亞那日和次日住在耶路撒冷。

dà wèi fēn fù wū lì yà shuō ：「 nǐ jīn rì réng zhù zài zhè lǐ ， míng rì wǒ dǎ fā nǐ qù 。」 yú shì wū lì yà nà rì hé cì rì zhù zài yē lù sā lěng 。

David said to Uriah, “Stay here today also, and tomorrow I will let you depart.” So Uriah stayed in Jerusalem that day and the next day.

大衛召了烏利亞來，叫他在自己面前吃喝，使他喝醉。到了晚上，烏利亞出去與他主的僕人一同住宿，還沒有回到家裏去。

dà wèi zhào le wū lì yà lái ， jiào tā zài zì jǐ miàn qián chī hē ， shǐ tā hē zuì 。 dào le wǎn shàng ， wū lì yà chū qù yǔ tā zhǔ de pú rén yì tóng zhù sù ， hái méi yǒu huí dào jiā lǐ qù 。

When David had called him, he ate and drank before him; and he made him drunk. At evening, he went out to lie on his bed with the servants of his lord, but didn’t go down to his house.

次日早晨，大衛寫信與約押，交烏利亞隨手帶去。

cì rì zǎo chén ， dà wèi xiě xìn yǔ yuē yā ， jiāo wū lì yà suí shǒu dài qù 。

In the morning, David wrote a letter to Joab and sent it by the hand of Uriah.

信內寫着說：「要派烏利亞前進，到陣勢極險之處，你們便退後，使他被殺。」

xìn nèi xiě zhe shuō ：「 yào pài wū lì yà qián jìn ， dào zhèn shì jí xiǎn zhī chù ， nǐ men biàn tuì hòu ， shǐ tā bèi shā 。」

He wrote in the letter, saying, “Send Uriah to the forefront of the hottest battle, and retreat from him, that he may be struck and die.”

約押圍城的時候，知道敵人那裏有勇士，便將烏利亞派在那裏。

yuē yā wéi chéng de shí hòu ， zhī dào dí rén nà lǐ yǒu yǒng shì ， biàn jiāng wū lì yà pài zài nà lǐ 。

When Joab kept watch on the city, he assigned Uriah to the place where he knew that valiant men were.

城裏的人出來和約押打仗；大衛的僕人中有幾個被殺的，赫人烏利亞也死了。

chéng lǐ de rén chū lái hé yuē yā dǎ zhàng ； dà wèi de pú rén zhōng yǒu jǐ gè bèi shā de ， hè rén wū lì yà yě sǐ le 。

The men of the city went out and fought with Joab. Some of the people fell, even of David’s servants; and Uriah the Hittite died also.

於是，約押差人去將爭戰的一切事告訴大衛，

yú shì ， yuē yā chà rén qù jiāng zhēng zhàn de yí qiè shì gào sù dà wèi ，

Then Joab sent and told David all the things concerning the war;

又囑咐使者說：「你把爭戰的一切事對王說完了，

yòu zhǔ fù shǐ zhě shuō ：「 nǐ bǎ zhēng zhàn de yí qiè shì duì wáng shuō wán le ，

and he commanded the messenger, saying, “When you have finished telling all the things concerning the war to the king,

王若發怒，問你說：『你們打仗為甚麼挨近城牆呢？豈不知敵人必從城上射箭嗎？

wáng ruò fā nù ， wèn nǐ shuō ：『 nǐ men dǎ zhàng wèi shén me āi jìn chéng qiáng ne ？ qǐ bù zhī dí rén bì cóng chéng shàng shè jiàn ma ？

it shall be that, if the king’s wrath arise, and he asks you, ‘Why did you go so near to the city to fight? Didn’t you know that they would shoot from the wall?

從前打死耶路‧比設 兒子亞比米勒的是誰呢？豈不是一個婦人從城上拋下一塊上磨石來，打在他身上，他就死在提備斯嗎？你們為甚麼挨近城牆呢？』你就說：『王的僕人－赫人烏利亞也死了。』」

cóng qián dǎ sǐ yē lù · bǐ shè ér zi yà bǐ mǐ lè de shì shuí ne ？ qǐ bú shì yí gè fù rén cóng chéng shàng pāo xià yí kuài shàng mó shí lái ， dǎ zài tā shēn shàng ， tā jiù sǐ zài tí bèi sī ma ？ nǐ men wèi shén me āi jìn chéng qiáng ne ？』 nǐ jiù shuō ：『 wáng de pú rén — hè rén wū lì yà yě sǐ le 。』」

Who struck Abimelech the son of Jerubbesheth? Didn’t a woman cast an upper millstone on him from the wall, so that he died at Thebez? Why did you go so near the wall?’ then you shall say, ‘Your servant Uriah the Hittite is also dead.’”

使者起身，來見大衛，照着約押所吩咐他的話奏告大衛。

shǐ zhě qǐ shēn ， lái jiàn dà wèi ， zhào zhe yuē yā suǒ fēn fù tā de huà zòu gào dà wèi 。

So the messenger went, and came and showed David all that Joab had sent him for.

使者對大衛說：「敵人強過我們，出到郊野與我們打仗，我們追殺他們，直到城門口。

shǐ zhě duì dà wèi shuō ：「 dí rén qiáng guò wǒ men ， chū dào jiāo yě yǔ wǒ men dǎ zhàng ， wǒ men zhuī shā tā men ， zhí dào chéng mén kǒu 。

The messenger said to David, “The men prevailed against us, and came out to us into the field; and we were on them even to the entrance of the gate.

射箭的從城上射王的僕人，射死幾個，赫人烏利亞也死了。」

shè jiàn de cóng chéng shàng shè wáng de pú rén ， shè sǐ jǐ gè ， hè rén wū lì yà yě sǐ le 。」

The shooters shot at your servants from off the wall; and some of the king’s servants are dead, and your servant Uriah the Hittite is also dead.”

王向使者說：「你告訴約押說：『不要因這事愁悶，刀劍或吞滅這人或吞滅那人，沒有一定的；你只管竭力攻城，將城傾覆。』可以用這話勉勵約押。」

wáng xiàng shǐ zhě shuō ：「 nǐ gào sù yuē yā shuō ：『 bú yào yīn zhè shì chóu mèn ， dāo jiàn huò tūn miè zhè rén huò tūn miè nà rén ， méi yǒu yí dìng de ； nǐ zhǐ guǎn jié lì gōng chéng ， jiāng chéng qīng fù 。』 kě yǐ yòng zhè huà miǎn lì yuē yā 。」

Then David said to the messenger, “Tell Joab, ‘Don’t let this thing displease you, for the sword devours one as well as another. Make your battle stronger against the city, and overthrow it.’ Encourage him.”

烏利亞的妻聽見丈夫烏利亞死了，就為他哀哭。

wū lì yà de qī tīng jiàn zhàng fu wū lì yà sǐ le ， jiù wèi tā āi kū 。

When Uriah’s wife heard that Uriah her husband was dead, she mourned for her husband.

哀哭的日子過了，大衛差人將她接到宮裏，她就作了大衛的妻，給大衛生了一個兒子。但大衛所行的這事，耶和華甚不喜悅。

āi kū de rì zi guò le ， dà wèi chà rén jiāng tā jiē dào gōng lǐ ， tā jiù zuò le dà wèi de qī ， gěi dà wèi shēng le yí gè ér zi 。 dàn dà wèi suǒ xíng de zhè shì ， yē hé huá shèn bù xǐ yuè 。

When the mourning was past, David sent and took her home to his house, and she became his wife and bore him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased the LORD.
