›Do I need an account?
No. Reading, saving words, reviewing and downloading all work without one. An account only adds syncing between your phone and your computer.
›Is it free?
Yes, all of it. There is one paid item on the site — a printable workbook — and nothing described on this page is part of it.
›I already use Anki or Pleco. Is this useful to me?
That is one of the two ways the site is meant to be used. Build a list here, download it, and study it where you already do. Each card carries pinyin, the meaning in your language, the HSK level and real verses the word appears in — which is what makes these lists different from a generic word dump.
›Which languages are the meanings in?
Fifteen: English, French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Russian, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Italian, Polish, Tagalog, Swahili and Hindi. The interface covers seventeen, but the two Chinese ones show the English definition, because a Chinese-to-Chinese dictionary is a different thing from this one.
›Where does the text come from?
Public-domain translations: 和合本 for Chinese, the World English Bible for English and Louis Segond 1910 for French. Word definitions come from CC-CEDICT, and every file you download carries its licence notice.
›Does the audio need an internet connection?
It uses the voice already built into your browser or phone, so quality varies by device and some have no Chinese voice at all. When yours does not, the audio controls simply do not appear.
