wǒ jiāng zhè yí qiè shì fàng zài xīn shàng , xiáng xì kǎo jiū , jiù zhī dào yì rén hé zhì huì rén , bìng tā men de zuò wéi dōu zài shén shǒu zhōng ; huò shì ài , huò shì hèn , dōu zài tā men de qián miàn , rén bù néng zhī dào 。

For all this I laid to my heart, even to explore all this: that the righteous, and the wise, and their works, are in the hand of God; whether it is love or hatred, man doesn’t know it; all is before them.

fán lín dào zhòng rén de shì dōu shì yí yàng : yì rén hé è rén dōu zāo yù yí yàng de shì ; hǎo rén , jié jìng rén hé bù jié jìng rén , xiàn jì de yǔ bú xiàn jì de , yě shì yí yàng 。 hǎo rén rú hé , zuì rén yě rú hé ; qǐ shì de rú hé , pà qǐ shì de yě rú hé 。

All things come alike to all. There is one event to the righteous and to the wicked; to the good, to the clean, to the unclean, to him who sacrifices, and to him who doesn’t sacrifice. As is the good, so is the sinner; he who takes an oath, as he who fears an oath.

zài rì guāng zhī xià suǒ xíng de yí qiè shì shàng yǒu yí jiàn huò huàn , jiù shì zhòng rén suǒ zāo yù de dōu shì yí yàng , bìng qiě shì rén de xīn chōng mǎn le è ; huó zhe de shí hòu xīn lǐ kuáng wàng , hòu lái jiù guī sǐ rén nà lǐ qù le 。

This is an evil in all that is done under the sun, that there is one event to all. Yes also, the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead.

yǔ yí qiè huó rén xiāng lián de , nà rén hái yǒu zhǐ wàng , yīn wèi huó zhe de gǒu bǐ sǐ le de shī zi gèng qiáng 。

For to him who is joined with all the living there is hope; for a living dog is better than a dead lion.

huó zhe de rén zhī dào bì sǐ ; sǐ le de rén háo wú suǒ zhī , yě bú zài dé shǎng cì ; tā men de míng wú rén jì niàn 。

For the living know that they will die, but the dead don’t know anything, neither do they have any more a reward; for their memory is forgotten.

tā men de ài , tā men de hèn , tā men de jí dù , zǎo dōu xiāo miè le 。 zài rì guāng zhī xià suǒ xíng de yí qiè shì shàng , tā men yǒng bú zài yǒu fēn le 。

Also their love, their hatred, and their envy has perished long ago; neither do they any longer have a portion forever in anything that is done under the sun.

nǐ zhǐ guǎn qù huān huān xǐ xǐ chī nǐ de fàn , xīn zhōng kuài lè hē nǐ de jiǔ , yīn wèi shén yǐ jīng yuè nà nǐ de zuò wéi 。

Go your way—eat your bread with joy, and drink your wine with a merry heart; for God has already accepted your works.

nǐ de yī fu dāng shí cháng jié bái , nǐ tóu shàng yě bú yào quē shǎo gāo yóu 。

Let your garments be always white, and don’t let your head lack oil.

zài nǐ yì shēng xū kōng de nián rì , jiù shì shén cì nǐ zài rì guāng zhī xià xū kōng de nián rì , dāng tóng nǐ suǒ ài de qī , kuài huó dù rì , yīn wèi nà shì nǐ shēng qián zài rì guāng zhī xià láo lù de shì shàng suǒ dé de fēn 。

Live joyfully with the wife whom you love all the days of your life of vanity, which he has given you under the sun, all your days of vanity, for that is your portion in life, and in your labor in which you labor under the sun.

fán nǐ shǒu suǒ dàng zuò de shì yào jìn lì qù zuò ; yīn wèi zài nǐ suǒ bì qù de yīn jiān méi yǒu gōng zuò , méi yǒu móu suàn , méi yǒu zhī shi , yě méi yǒu zhì huì 。

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work, nor plan, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in Sheol, where you are going.

wǒ yòu zhuǎn niàn : jiàn rì guāng zhī xià , kuài pǎo de wèi bì néng yíng ; lì zhàn de wèi bì dé shèng ; zhì huì de wèi bì dé liáng shí ; míng zhé de wèi bì dé zī cái ; líng qiǎo de wèi bì dé xǐ yuè 。 suǒ lín dào zhòng rén de shì zài hū dāng shí de jī huì 。

I returned and saw under the sun that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happen to them all.

yuán lái rén yě bù zhī dào zì jǐ de dìng qī 。 yú bèi è wǎng quān zhù , niǎo bèi wǎng luó zhuō zhù , huò huàn hū rán lín dào de shí hòu , shì rén xiàn zài qí zhōng yě shì rú cǐ 。

For man also doesn’t know his time. As the fish that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare, even so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falls suddenly on them.

wǒ jiàn rì guāng zhī xià yǒu yí yàng zhì huì , jù wǒ kàn nǎi shì guǎng dà ,

I have also seen wisdom under the sun in this way, and it seemed great to me.

jiù shì yǒu yì xiǎo chéng , qí zhōng de rén shù xī shǎo , yǒu dà jūn wáng lái gōng jī , xiū zhù yíng lěi , jiāng chéng wéi kùn 。

There was a little city, and few men within it; and a great king came against it, besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it.

chéng zhōng yǒu yí gè pín qióng de zhì huì rén , tā yòng zhì huì jiù le nà chéng , què méi yǒu rén jì niàn nà qióng rén 。

Now a poor wise man was found in it, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man.

wǒ jiù shuō , zhì huì shèng guò yǒng lì ; rán ér nà pín qióng rén de zhì huì bèi rén miǎo shì , tā de huà yě wú rén tīng cóng 。

Then I said, “Wisdom is better than strength.” Nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard.

níng kě zài ān jìng zhī zhōng tīng zhì huì rén de yán yǔ , bù tīng zhǎng guǎn yú mèi rén de hǎn shēng 。

The words of the wise heard in quiet are better than the cry of him who rules among fools.

zhì huì shèng guò dǎ zhàng de bīng qì ; dàn yí gè zuì rén néng bài huài xǔ duō shàn shì 。

Wisdom is better than weapons of war; but one sinner destroys much good.
