jiǔ néng shǐ rén xiè màn , nóng jiǔ shǐ rén xuān rǎng ; fán yīn jiǔ cuò wù de , jiù wú zhì huì 。

Wine is a mocker and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise.

wáng de wēi hè rú tóng shī zi hǒu jiào ; rě dòng tā nù de , shì zì hài jǐ mìng 。

The terror of a king is like the roaring of a lion. He who provokes him to anger forfeits his own life.

yuǎn lí fēn zhēng shì rén de zūn róng ; yú wàng rén dōu ài zhēng nào 。

It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife, but every fool will be quarreling.

lǎn duò rén yīn dōng hán bù kěn gēng zhòng , dào shōu gē de shí hòu , tā bì tǎo fàn ér wú suǒ dé 。

The sluggard will not plow by reason of the winter; therefore he shall beg in harvest, and have nothing.

rén xīn huái cáng móu lüè , hǎo xiàng shēn shuǐ , wéi míng zhé rén cái néng jí yǐn chū lái 。

Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water, but a man of understanding will draw it out.

rén duō shù shuō zì jǐ de rén cí , dàn zhōng xìn rén shuí néng yù zhe ne ?

Many men claim to be men of unfailing love, but who can find a faithful man?

xíng wéi chún zhèng de yì rén , tā de zǐ sūn shì yǒu fú de !

A righteous man walks in integrity. Blessed are his children after him.

wáng zuò zài shěn pàn de wèi shàng , yǐ yǎn mù qū sàn zhū è 。

A king who sits on the throne of judgment scatters away all evil with his eyes.

shuí néng shuō , wǒ jié jìng le wǒ de xīn , wǒ tuō jìng le wǒ de zuì ?

Who can say, “I have made my heart pure. I am clean and without sin”?

liǎng yàng de fǎ mǎ , liǎng yàng de shēng dòu , dōu wèi yē hé huá suǒ zēng wù 。

Differing weights and differing measures, both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD.

hái tóng de dòng zuò shì qīng jié , shì zhèng zhí , dōu xiǎn míng tā de běn xìng 。

Even a child makes himself known by his doings, whether his work is pure, and whether it is right.

néng tīng de ěr , néng kàn de yǎn , dōu shì yē hé huá suǒ zào de 。

The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD has made even both of them.

bú yào tān shuì , miǎn zhì pín qióng ; yǎn yào zhēng kāi , nǐ jiù chī bǎo 。

Don’t love sleep, lest you come to poverty. Open your eyes, and you shall be satisfied with bread.

mǎi wù de shuō : bù hǎo , bù hǎo ; jí zhì mǎi qù , tā biàn zì kuā 。

“It’s no good, it’s no good,” says the buyer; but when he is gone his way, then he boasts.

yǒu jīn zǐ hé xǔ duō zhēn zhū , wéi yǒu zhī shi de zuǐ nǎi wèi guì zhòng de zhēn bǎo 。

There is gold and abundance of rubies, but the lips of knowledge are a rare jewel.

shuí wèi shēng rén zuò bǎo , jiù ná shuí de yī fu ; shuí wèi wài rén zuò bǎo , shuí jiù yào chéng dāng 。

Take the garment of one who puts up collateral for a stranger; and hold him in pledge for a wayward woman.

yǐ xū huǎng ér dé de shí wù , rén jué gān tián ; dàn hòu lái , tā de kǒu bì chōng mǎn chén shā 。

Fraudulent food is sweet to a man, but afterwards his mouth is filled with gravel.

jì móu dōu píng chóu suàn lì dìng ; dǎ zhàng yào píng zhì móu 。

Plans are established by advice; by wise guidance you wage war!

wǎng lái chuán shé de , xiè lòu mì shì ; dà zhāng zuǐ de , bù kě yǔ tā jié jiāo 。

He who goes about as a tale-bearer reveals secrets; therefore don’t keep company with him who opens wide his lips.

zhòu mà fù mǔ de , tā de dēng bì miè , biàn wèi qī hēi de hēi àn 。

Whoever curses his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in blackness of darkness.

qǐ chū sù dé de chǎn yè , zhōng jiǔ què bú wèi fú 。

An inheritance quickly gained at the beginning won’t be blessed in the end.

nǐ bú yào shuō , wǒ yào yǐ è bào è ; yào děng hòu yē hé huá , tā bì zhěng jiù nǐ 。

Don’t say, “I will pay back evil.” Wait for the LORD, and he will save you.

liǎng yàng de fǎ mǎ wèi yē hé huá suǒ zēng wù ; guǐ zhà de tiān píng yě wèi bú shàn 。

The LORD detests differing weights, and dishonest scales are not pleasing.

rén de jiǎo bù wèi yē hé huá suǒ dìng ; rén qǐ néng míng bái zì jǐ de lù ne ?

A man’s steps are from the LORD; how then can man understand his way?

rén mào shī shuō , zhè shì shèng wù , xǔ yuàn zhī hòu cái chá wèn , jiù shì zì xiàn wǎng luó 。

It is a snare to a man to make a rash dedication, then later to consider his vows.

zhì huì de wáng bò sàn è rén , yòng liù zhou gǔn yà tā men 。

A wise king winnows out the wicked, and drives the threshing wheel over them.

rén de líng shì yē hé huá de dēng , jiàn chá rén de xīn fù 。

The spirit of man is the LORD’s lamp, searching all his innermost parts.

wáng yīn rén cí hé chéng shí dé yǐ bǎo quán tā de guó wèi , yě yīn rén cí lì wěn 。

Love and faithfulness keep the king safe. His throne is sustained by love.

耀

qiáng zhuàng nǎi shào nián rén de róng yào ; bái fà wèi lǎo nián rén de zūn róng 。

The glory of young men is their strength. The splendor of old men is their gray hair.

biān shāng chú jìng rén de zuì è ; zé dǎ néng rù rén de xīn fù 。

Wounding blows cleanse away evil, and beatings purge the innermost parts.
