wáng de xīn zài yē hé huá shǒu zhōng , hǎo xiàng lǒng gōu de shuǐ suí yì liú zhuǎn 。

The king’s heart is in the LORD’s hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires.

rén suǒ xíng de , zài zì jǐ yǎn zhōng dū kàn wèi zhèng ; wéi yǒu yē hé huá héng liáng rén xīn 。

Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the LORD weighs the hearts.

xíng rén yì gōng píng bǐ xiàn jì gèng méng yē hé huá yuè nà 。

To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.

è rén fā dá , yǎn gāo xīn ào , zhè nǎi shì zuì 。

A high look and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, is sin.

yīn qín chóu huà de , zú zhì fēng yù ; xíng shì jí zào de , dōu bì quē fá 。

The plans of the diligent surely lead to profit; and everyone who is hasty surely rushes to poverty.

yòng guǐ zhà zhī shé qiú cái de , jiù shì zì jǐ qǔ sǐ ; suǒ dé zhī cái nǎi shì chuī lái chuī qù de fú yún 。

Getting treasures by a lying tongue is a fleeting vapor for those who seek death.

è rén de qiáng bào bì jiāng zì jǐ sǎo chú , yīn tā men bù kěn àn gōng píng xíng shì 。

The violence of the wicked will drive them away, because they refuse to do what is right.

fù zuì zhī rén de lù shèn shì wān qū ; zhì yú qīng jié de rén , tā suǒ xíng de nǎi shì zhèng zhí 。

The way of the guilty is devious, but the conduct of the innocent is upright.

nìng kě zhù zài fáng dǐng de jiǎo shàng , bú zài kuān kuò de fáng wū yǔ zhēng chǎo de fù rén tóng zhù 。

It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop than to share a house with a contentious woman.

è rén de xīn lè rén shòu huò ; tā yǎn bìng bù lián xù lín shè 。

The soul of the wicked desires evil; his neighbor finds no mercy in his eyes.

便

xiè màn de rén shòu xíng fá , yú méng de rén jiù dé zhì huì ; zhì huì rén shòu xùn huì , biàn dé zhī shi 。

When the mocker is punished, the simple gains wisdom. When the wise is instructed, he receives knowledge.

yì rén sī xiǎng è rén de jiā , zhī dào è rén qīng dǎo , bì zhì miè wáng 。

The Righteous One considers the house of the wicked, and brings the wicked to ruin.

sāi ěr bù tīng qióng rén āi qiú de , tā jiāng lái hū yù yě bù méng yīng yǔn 。

Whoever stops his ears at the cry of the poor, he will also cry out, but shall not be heard.

怀贿

àn zhōng sòng de lǐ wù wǎn huí nù qì ; huái zhōng chuāi de huì lù zhǐ xī bào nù 。

A gift in secret pacifies anger, and a bribe in the cloak, strong wrath.

使使

bǐng gōng xíng yì shǐ yì rén xǐ lè , shǐ zuò niè de rén bài huài 。

It is joy to the righteous to do justice; but it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity.

mí lí tōng dá dào lù de , bì zhù zài yīn hún de huì zhōng 。

The man who wanders out of the way of understanding shall rest in the assembly of the departed spirits.

ài yàn lè de , bì zhì qióng fá ; hǎo jiǔ , ài gāo yóu de , bì bú fù zú 。

He who loves pleasure will be a poor man. He who loves wine and oil won’t be rich.

è rén zuò le yì rén de shú jià ; jiān zhà rén dài tì zhèng zhí rén 。

The wicked is a ransom for the righteous, the treacherous for the upright.

使

nìng kě zhù zài kuàng yě , bù yǔ zhēng chǎo shǐ qì de fù rén tóng zhù 。

It is better to dwell in a desert land, than with a contentious and fretful woman.

zhì huì rén jiā zhōng jī xù bǎo wù gāo yóu ; yú mèi rén suí dé lái suí tūn xià 。

There is precious treasure and oil in the dwelling of the wise, but a foolish man swallows it up.

zhuī qiú gōng yì rén cí de , jiù xún dé shēng mìng 、 gōng yì , hé zūn róng 。

He who follows after righteousness and kindness finds life, righteousness, and honor.

zhì huì rén pá shàng yǒng shì de chéng qiáng , qīng fù tā suǒ yǐ kào de jiān lěi 。

A wise man scales the city of the mighty, and brings down the strength of its confidence.

jǐn shǒu kǒu yǔ shé de , jiù bǎo shǒu zì jǐ miǎn shòu zāi nàn 。

Whoever guards his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from troubles.

xīn jiāo qì ào de rén míng jiào xiè màn ; tā xíng shì kuáng wàng , dōu chū yú jiāo ào 。

The proud and arrogant man—“Scoffer” is his name— he works in the arrogance of pride.

lǎn duò rén de xīn yuàn jiāng tā shā hài , yīn wèi tā shǒu bù kěn zuò gōng 。

The desire of the sluggard kills him, for his hands refuse to labor.

yǒu zhōng rì tān dé wú yàn de ; yì rén shī shě ér bú lìn xī 。

There are those who covet greedily all day long; but the righteous give and don’t withhold.

è rén de jì wù shì kě zēng de ; hé kuàng tā cún è yì lái xiàn ne ?

The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination— how much more, when he brings it with a wicked mind!

zuò jiǎ jiàn zhèng de bì miè wáng ; wéi yǒu tīng zhēn qíng ér yán de , qí yán cháng cún 。

A false witness will perish. A man who listens speaks to eternity.

è rén liǎn wú xiū chǐ ; zhèng zhí rén xíng shì jiān dìng 。

A wicked man hardens his face; but as for the upright, he establishes his ways.

méi yǒu rén néng yǐ zhì huì 、 cōng ming 、 móu lüè dí dǎng yē hé huá 。

There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.

mǎ shì wèi dǎ zhàng zhī rì yù bèi de ; dé shèng nǎi zài hū yē hé huá 。

The horse is prepared for the day of battle; but victory is with the LORD.
