xìn jiù shì suǒ wàng zhī shì de shí dǐ , shì wèi jiàn zhī shì dí què jù 。

Now faith is assurance of things hoped for, proof of things not seen.

gǔ rén zài zhè xìn shàng dé le měi hǎo de zhèng jù 。

For by this, the elders obtained approval.

wǒ men yīn zhe xìn , jiù zhī dào zhū shì jiè shì jiè shén de huà zào chéng de ; zhè yàng , suǒ kàn jiàn de , bìng bú shì cóng xiǎn rán zhī wù zào chū lái de 。

By faith we understand that the universe has been framed by the word of God, so that what is seen has not been made out of things which are visible.

便

yà bó yīn zhe xìn , xiàn jì yǔ shén , bǐ gāi yǐn suǒ xiàn de gèng měi , yīn cǐ biàn dé le chēng yì de jiàn zhèng , jiù shì shén zhǐ tā lǐ wù zuò de jiàn zhèng 。 tā suī rán sǐ le , què yīn zhè xìn , réng jiù shuō huà 。

By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he had testimony given to him that he was righteous, God testifying with respect to his gifts; and through it he, being dead, still speaks.

yǐ nuò yīn zhe xìn , bèi jiē qù , bú zhì yú jiàn sǐ , rén yě zhǎo bù zhe tā , yīn wèi shén yǐ jīng bǎ tā jiē qù le ; zhǐ shì tā bèi jiē qù yǐ xiān , yǐ jīng dé le shén xǐ yuè tā de míng zhèng 。

By faith Enoch was taken away, so that he wouldn’t see death, and he was not found, because God translated him. For he has had testimony given to him that before his translation he had been well pleasing to God.

rén fēi yǒu xìn , jiù bù néng dé shén de xǐ yuè ; yīn wèi dào shén miàn qián lái de rén bì xū xìn yǒu shén , qiě xìn tā shǎng cì nà xún qiú tā de rén 。

Without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him.

使

nuó yà yīn zhe xìn , jì méng shén zhǐ shì tā wèi jiàn de shì , dòng le jìng wèi de xīn , yù bèi le yì zhī fāng zhōu , shǐ tā quán jiā dé jiù 。 yīn cǐ jiù dìng le nà shì dài de zuì , zì jǐ yě chéng shòu le nà cóng xìn ér lái de yì 。

By faith Noah, being warned about things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared a ship for the saving of his house, through which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.

yà bó lā hǎn yīn zhe xìn , méng zhào de shí hòu jiù zūn mìng chū qù , wǎng jiāng lái yào dé wèi yè de dì fāng qù ; chū qù de shí hòu , hái bù zhī wǎng nǎ lǐ qù 。

By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed to go out to the place which he was to receive for an inheritance. He went out, not knowing where he went.

tā yīn zhe xìn , jiù zài suǒ yīng xǔ zhī dì zuò kè , hǎo xiàng zài yì dì jū zhù zhàng péng , yǔ nà tóng méng yí gè yīng xǔ de yǐ sā 、 yǎ gè yí yàng 。

By faith he lived as an alien in the land of promise, as in a land not his own, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise.

yīn wèi tā děng hòu nà zuò yǒu gēn jī de chéng , jiù shì shén suǒ jīng yíng suǒ jiàn zào de 。

For he was looking for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.

怀

yīn zhe xìn , lián sā lā zì jǐ , suī rán guò le shēng yù de suì shù , hái néng huái yùn , yīn tā yǐ wéi nà yīng xǔ tā de shì kě xìn de 。

By faith even Sarah herself received power to conceive, and she bore a child when she was past age, since she counted him faithful who had promised.

仿

suǒ yǐ cóng yí gè fǎng fú yǐ sǐ de rén jiù shēng chū zǐ sūn , rú tóng tiān shàng de xīng nà yàng zhòng duō , hǎi biān de shā nà yàng wú shù 。

Therefore as many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as innumerable as the sand which is by the sea shore, were fathered by one man, and him as good as dead.

zhè xiē rén dōu shì cún zhe xìn xīn sǐ de , bìng méi yǒu dé zhe suǒ yīng xǔ de ; què cóng yuǎn chù wàng jiàn , qiě huān xǐ yíng jiē , yòu chéng rèn zì jǐ zài shì shàng shì kè lǚ , shì jì jū de 。

These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them and embraced them from afar, and having confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

shuō zhè yàng huà de rén shì biǎo míng zì jǐ yào zhǎo yí gè jiā xiāng 。

For those who say such things make it clear that they are seeking a country of their own.

tā men ruò xiǎng niàn suǒ lí kāi de jiā xiāng , hái yǒu kě yǐ huí qù de jī huì 。

If indeed they had been thinking of that country from which they went out, they would have had enough time to return.

tā men què xiàn mù yí gè gèng měi de jiā xiāng , jiù shì zài tiān shàng de 。 suǒ yǐ shén bèi chēng wéi tā men de shén , bìng bù yǐ wéi chǐ , yīn wèi tā yǐ jīng gěi tā men yù bèi le yí zuò chéng 。

But now they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.

便

yà bó lā hǎn yīn zhe xìn , bèi shì yàn de shí hòu , jiù bǎ yǐ sā xiàn shàng ; zhè biàn shì nà huān xǐ lǐng shòu yīng xǔ de , jiāng zì jǐ dú shēng de ér zi xiàn shàng 。

By faith, Abraham, being tested, offered up Isaac. Yes, he who had gladly received the promises was offering up his only born son,

:「。」

lùn dào zhè ér zi , céng yǒu huà shuō :「 cóng yǐ sā shēng de cái yào chēng wéi nǐ de hòu yì 。」

to whom it was said, “Your offspring will be accounted as from Isaac,”

仿

tā yǐ wéi shén hái néng jiào rén cóng sǐ lǐ fù huó ; tā yě fǎng fú cóng sǐ zhōng dé huí tā de ér zi lái 。

concluding that God is able to raise up even from the dead. Figuratively speaking, he also did receive him back from the dead.

yǐ sā yīn zhe xìn , jiù zhǐ zhe jiāng lái de shì gěi yǎ gè 、 yǐ sǎo zhù fú 。

By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau, even concerning things to come.

yǎ gè yīn zhe xìn , lín sǐ de shí hòu , gěi yuē sè de liǎng gè ér zi gè zì zhù fú , fú zhe zhàng tóu jìng bài shén 。

By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, and worshiped, leaning on the top of his staff.

yuē sè yīn zhe xìn , lín zhōng de shí hòu , tí dào yǐ sè liè zú jiāng lái yào chū āi jí , bìng wèi zì jǐ de hái gǔ liú xià yí mìng 。

By faith Joseph, when his end was near, made mention of the departure of the children of Israel, and gave instructions concerning his bones.

mó xī shēng xià lái , tā de fù mǔ jiàn tā shì gè jùn měi de hái zi , jiù yīn zhe xìn , bǎ tā cáng le sān gè yuè , bìng bú pà wáng mìng 。

By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw that he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the king’s commandment.

mó xī yīn zhe xìn , zhǎng dà le jiù bù kěn chēng wéi fǎ lǎo nǚ ér zhī zǐ 。

By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter,

tā níng kě hé shén de bǎi xìng tóng shòu kǔ hài , yě bú yuàn zàn shí xiǎng shòu zuì zhōng zhī lè 。

choosing rather to share ill treatment with God’s people than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a time,

tā kàn wèi jī dū shòu de líng rǔ bǐ āi jí de cái wù gèng bǎo guì , yīn tā xiǎng wàng suǒ yào dé de shǎng cì 。

considering the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he looked to the reward.

tā yīn zhe xìn , jiù lí kāi āi jí , bú pà wáng nù ; yīn wèi tā héng xīn rěn nài , rú tóng kàn jiàn nà bù néng kàn jiàn de zhǔ 。

By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.

tā yīn zhe xìn , jiù shǒu yú yuè jié , xíng sǎ xuè de lǐ , miǎn de nà miè zhǎng zǐ de lín jìn yǐ sè liè rén 。

By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of the blood, that the destroyer of the firstborn should not touch them.

tā men yīn zhe xìn , guò hóng hǎi rú xíng gān dì ; āi jí rén shì zhe yào guò qù , jiù bèi tūn miè le 。

By faith they passed through the Red Sea as on dry land. When the Egyptians tried to do so, they were swallowed up.

yǐ sè liè rén yīn zhe xìn , wéi rào yē lì gē chéng qī rì , chéng qiáng jiù dǎo tā le 。

By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they had been encircled for seven days.

jì nǚ lā hé yīn zhe xìn , céng hé hé píng píng dì jiē dài tàn zǐ , jiù bù yǔ nà xiē bú shùn cóng de rén yì tóng miè wáng 。

By faith Rahab the prostitute didn’t perish with those who were disobedient, having received the spies in peace.

wǒ yòu hé bì zài shuō ne ? ruò yào yī yī xì shuō , jī diàn 、 bā lā 、 cān sūn 、 yē fú tā 、 dà wèi 、 sā mǔ ěr , hé zhòng xiān zhī de shì , shí hòu jiù bú gòu le 。

What more shall I say? For the time would fail me if I told of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and the prophets—

tā men yīn zhe xìn , zhì fú le dí guó , xíng le gōng yì , dé le yīng xǔ , dǔ le shī zi de kǒu ,

who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked out righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,

miè le liè huǒ de měng shì , tuō le dāo jiàn de fēng rèn ; ruǎn ruò biàn wèi gāng qiáng , zhēng zhàn xiǎn chū yǒng gǎn , dǎ tuì wài bāng de quán jūn 。

quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, grew mighty in war, and caused foreign armies to flee.

yǒu fù rén dé zì jǐ de sǐ rén fù huó 。 yòu yǒu rén rěn shòu yán xíng , bù kěn gǒu qiě dé shì fàng , wèi yào dé zhe gèng měi de fù huó 。

Women received their dead by resurrection. Others were tortured, not accepting their deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection.

yòu yǒu rén rěn shòu xì nòng 、 biān dǎ 、 kǔn suǒ 、 jiān jìn 、 gè děng de mó liàn ,

Others were tried by mocking and scourging, yes, moreover by bonds and imprisonment.

bèi shí tou dǎ sǐ , bèi jù jù sǐ , shòu shì tàn , bèi dāo shā , pī zhe mián yáng shān yáng de pí gè chù bēn pǎo , shòu qióng fá 、 huàn nàn 、 kǔ hài ,

They were stoned. They were sawn apart. They were tempted. They were slain with the sword. They went around in sheep skins and in goat skins; being destitute, afflicted, ill-treated—

zài kuàng yě 、 shān lǐng 、 shān dòng 、 dì xué , piāo liú wú dìng , běn shì shì jiè bú pèi yǒu de rén 。

of whom the world was not worthy—wandering in deserts, mountains, caves, and the holes of the earth.

zhè xiē rén dōu shì yīn xìn dé le měi hǎo de zhèng jù , què réng wèi dé zhe suǒ yīng xǔ de ;

These all, having been commended for their faith, didn’t receive the promise,

yīn wèi shén gěi wǒ men yù bèi le gèng měi de shì , jiào tā men ruò bù yǔ wǒ men tóng dé , jiù bù néng wán quán 。

God having provided some better thing concerning us, so that apart from us they should not be made perfect.
