怀

yuàn wǒ shēng de nà rì hé shuō huái le nán tāi de nà yè dōu miè méi 。

“Let the day perish in which I was born, the night which said, ‘There is a boy conceived.’

yuàn nà rì biàn wèi hēi àn ; yuàn shén bù cóng shàng miàn xún zhǎo tā ; yuàn liàng guāng bú zhào yú qí shàng 。

Let that day be darkness. Don’t let God from above seek for it, neither let the light shine on it.

yuàn hēi àn hé sǐ yìn suǒ qǔ nà rì ; yuàn mì yún tíng zài qí shàng ; yuàn rì shí kǒng hè tā 。

Let darkness and the shadow of death claim it for their own. Let a cloud dwell on it. Let all that makes the day black terrify it.

yuàn nà yè bèi yōu àn duó qǔ , bú zài nián zhōng de rì zi tóng lè , yě bú rù yuè zhōng de shù mù 。

As for that night, let thick darkness seize on it. Let it not rejoice among the days of the year. Let it not come into the number of the months.

yuàn nà yè méi yǒu shēng yù , qí jiān yě méi yǒu huān lè de shēng yīn 。

Behold, let that night be barren. Let no joyful voice come therein.

yuàn nà zhòu zǔ rì zi qiě néng rě dòng è yú de zhòu zǔ nà yè 。

Let them curse it who curse the day, who are ready to rouse up leviathan.

宿线

yuàn nà yè lí míng de xīng sù biàn wèi hēi àn , pàn liàng què bú liàng , yě bú jiàn zǎo chén de guāng xiàn ;

Let the stars of its twilight be dark. Let it look for light, but have none, neither let it see the eyelids of the morning,

怀

yīn méi yǒu bǎ huái wǒ tāi de mén guān bì , yě méi yǒu jiāng huàn nàn duì wǒ de yǎn yǐn cáng 。

because it didn’t shut up the doors of my mother’s womb, nor did it hide trouble from my eyes.

wǒ wèi hé bù chū mǔ tāi ér sǐ ? wèi hé bù chū mǔ fù jué qì ?

“Why didn’t I die from the womb? Why didn’t I give up the spirit when my mother bore me?

wèi hé yǒu xī jiē shōu wǒ ? wèi hé yǒu nǎi bǔ yǎng wǒ ?

Why did the knees receive me? Or why the breast, that I should nurse?

bù rán , wǒ jiù zǎo yǐ tǎng wò ān shuì ,

For now I should have lain down and been quiet. I should have slept, then I would have been at rest,

hé dì shàng wèi zì jǐ zhòng zào huāng qiū de jūn wáng 、 móu shì ,

with kings and counselors of the earth, who built up waste places for themselves;

huò yǔ yǒu jīn zǐ 、 jiāng yín zi zhuāng mǎn le fáng wū de wáng zǐ yì tóng ān xī ;

or with princes who had gold, who filled their houses with silver;

huò xiàng yǐn ér wèi xiàn 、 bú dào qī ér luò de tāi , guī yú wú yǒu , rú tóng wèi jiàn guāng de yīng hái 。

or as a hidden untimely birth I had not been, as infants who never saw light.

zài nà lǐ è rén zhǐ xī jiǎo rǎo , kùn fá rén dé xiǎng ān xī ,

There the wicked cease from troubling. There the weary are at rest.

bèi qiú de rén tóng dé ān yì , bù tīng jiàn dū gōng de shēng yīn 。

There the prisoners are at ease together. They don’t hear the voice of the taskmaster.

dà xiǎo dōu zài nà lǐ ; nú pú tuō lí zhǔ rén de xiá zhì 。

The small and the great are there. The servant is free from his master.

shòu huàn nàn de rén wèi hé yǒu guāng cì gěi tā ne ? xīn zhōng chóu kǔ de rén wéi hé yǒu shēng mìng cì gěi tā ne ?

“Why is light given to him who is in misery, life to the bitter in soul,

tā men qiè wàng sǐ , què bù dé sǐ ; qiú sǐ , shèng yú qiú yǐn cáng de zhēn bǎo 。

who long for death, but it doesn’t come; and dig for it more than for hidden treasures,

tā men xún jiàn fén mù jiù kuài lè , jí qí huān xǐ 。

who rejoice exceedingly, and are glad, when they can find the grave?

rén de dào lù jì rán zhē yǐn , shén yòu bǎ tā sì miàn wéi kùn , wèi hé yǒu guāng cì gěi tā ne ?

Why is light given to a man whose way is hidden, whom God has hedged in?

wǒ wèi céng chī fàn jiù fā chū tàn xī ; wǒ ài hēng de shēng yīn yǒng chū rú shuǐ 。

For my sighing comes before I eat. My groanings are poured out like water.

yīn wǒ suǒ kǒng jù de lín dào wǒ shēn , wǒ suǒ jù pà de yíng wǒ ér lái 。

For the thing which I fear comes on me, that which I am afraid of comes to me.

wǒ bù dé ān yì , bù dé píng jìng , yě bù dé ān xī , què yǒu huàn nàn lái dào 。

I am not at ease, neither am I quiet, neither do I have rest; but trouble comes.”
