nǐ men zhì huì rén yào tīng wǒ de huà ; yǒu zhī shi de rén yào liú xīn tīng wǒ shuō 。
“Hear my words, you wise men. Give ear to me, you who have knowledge.
yīn wèi ěr duo shì yàn huà yǔ , hǎo xiàng shàng táng cháng shí wù 。
For the ear tries words, as the palate tastes food.
wǒ men dāng xuǎn zé hé wèi shì , bǐ cǐ zhī dào hé wèi shàn 。
Let us choose for us that which is right. Let us know among ourselves what is good.
约伯曾说:我是公义, 神夺去我的理;
yuē bó céng shuō : wǒ shì gōng yì , shén duó qù wǒ de lǐ ;
For Job has said, ‘I am righteous, God has taken away my right.
wǒ suī yǒu lǐ , hái suàn wèi shuō huǎng yán de ; wǒ suī wú guò , shòu de shāng hái bù néng yī zhì 。
Notwithstanding my right I am considered a liar. My wound is incurable, though I am without disobedience.’
shuí xiàng yuē bó , hē jī qiào rú tóng hē shuǐ ne ?
What man is like Job, who drinks scorn like water,
tā yǔ zuò niè de jié bàn , hé è rén tóng háng 。
who goes in company with the workers of iniquity, and walks with wicked men?
tā shuō : rén yǐ shén wèi lè , zǒng shì wú yì 。
For he has said, ‘It profits a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.’
suǒ yǐ , nǐ men míng lǐ de rén yào tīng wǒ de huà 。 shén duàn bú zhì xíng è ; quán néng zhě duàn bú zhì zuò niè 。
“Therefore listen to me, you men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness, from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.
tā bì àn rén suǒ zuò de bào yìng rén , shǐ gè rén zhào suǒ xíng de dé bào 。
For the work of a man he will give to him, and cause every man to find according to his ways.
shén bì bú zuò è ; quán néng zhě yě bù piān lí gōng píng 。
Yes surely, God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert justice.
shuí pài tā zhì lǐ dì , ān dìng quán shì jiè ne ?
Who put him in charge of the earth? Or who has appointed him over the whole world?
tā ruò zhuān xīn wèi jǐ , jiāng líng hé qì shōu guī zì jǐ ,
If he set his heart on himself, if he gathered to himself his spirit and his breath,
fán yǒu xuè qì de jiù bì yì tóng sǐ wáng ; shì rén bì réng guī chén tǔ 。
all flesh would perish together, and man would turn again to dust.
nǐ ruò míng lǐ , jiù dāng tīng wǒ de huà , liú xīn tīng wǒ yán yǔ de shēng yīn 。
“If now you have understanding, hear this. Listen to the voice of my words.
nán dào hèn è gōng píng de kě yǐ zhǎng quán ma ? nà yǒu gōng yì de 、 yǒu dà néng de , qǐ kě dìng tā yǒu zuì ma ?
Should even one who hates justice govern? Will you condemn him who is righteous and mighty,
tā duì jūn wáng shuō : nǐ shì bǐ lòu de ; duì guì chén shuō : nǐ shì xié è de 。
who says to a king, ‘Vile!’ or to nobles, ‘Wicked!’?
tā dài wáng zǐ bú xùn qíng miàn , yě bú kàn zhòng fù zú de guò yú pín qióng de , yīn wèi dōu shì tā shǒu suǒ zào 。
He doesn’t respect the persons of princes, nor respect the rich more than the poor, for they all are the work of his hands.
zài zhuǎn yǎn zhī jiān , bàn yè zhī zhōng , tā men jiù sǐ wáng 。 bǎi xìng bèi zhèn dòng ér qù shì ; yǒu quán lì de bèi duó qù fēi jiè rén shǒu 。
In a moment they die, even at midnight. The people are shaken and pass away. The mighty are taken away without a hand.
shén zhù mù guān kàn rén de dào lù , kàn míng rén de jiǎo bù 。
“For his eyes are on the ways of a man. He sees all his goings.
méi yǒu hēi àn 、 yīn yì néng gěi zuò niè de cáng shēn 。
There is no darkness, nor thick gloom, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.
shén shěn pàn rén , bú bì shǐ rén dào tā miàn qián zài sān jiàn chá 。
For he doesn’t need to consider a man further, that he should go before God in judgment.
tā yòng nán cè zhī fǎ dǎ pò yǒu néng lì de rén , shè lì bié rén dài tì tā men 。
He breaks mighty men in pieces in ways past finding out, and sets others in their place.
tā yuán zhī dào tā men de xíng wéi , shǐ tā men zài yè jiān qīng dǎo miè wáng 。
Therefore he takes knowledge of their works. He overturns them in the night, so that they are destroyed.
tā zài zhòng rén yǎn qián jī dǎ tā men , rú tóng jī dǎ è rén yí yàng 。
He strikes them as wicked men in the open sight of others;
yīn wèi tā men piān xíng bù gēn cóng tā , yě bù liú xīn tā de dào ,
because they turned away from following him, and wouldn’t pay attention to any of his ways,
shèn zhì shǐ pín qióng rén de āi shēng dá dào tā nà lǐ ; tā yě tīng le kùn kǔ rén de āi shēng 。
so that they caused the cry of the poor to come to him. He heard the cry of the afflicted.
tā shǐ rén ān jìng , shuí néng rǎo luàn ne ? tā yǎn miàn , shuí néng jiàn tā ne ? wú lùn dài yì guó huò yì rén dōu shì rú cǐ —
When he gives quietness, who then can condemn? When he hides his face, who then can see him? He is over a nation or a man alike,
shǐ bù qián jìng de rén bù dé zuò wáng , miǎn de yǒu rén láo lóng bǎi xìng 。
that the godless man may not reign, that there be no one to ensnare the people.
有谁对 神说: 我受了责罚,不再犯罪;
yǒu shuí duì shén shuō : wǒ shòu le zé fá , bú zài fàn zuì ;
“For has any said to God, ‘I am guilty, but I will not offend any more.
wǒ suǒ kàn bù míng de , qiú nǐ zhǐ jiào wǒ ; wǒ ruò zuò le niè , bì bú zài zuò ?
Teach me that which I don’t see. If I have done iniquity, I will do it no more’?
tā shī xíng bào yìng , qǐ yào suí nǐ de xīn yuàn 、 jiào nǐ tuī cí bú shòu ma ? xuǎn dìng de shì nǐ , bú shì wǒ 。 nǐ suǒ zhī dào de zhǐ guǎn shuō ba !
Shall his recompense be as you desire, that you refuse it? For you must choose, and not I. Therefore speak what you know.
míng lǐ de rén hé tīng wǒ huà de zhì huì rén bì duì wǒ shuō :
Men of understanding will tell me, yes, every wise man who hears me:
约伯说话没有知识, 言语中毫无智慧。
yuē bó shuō huà méi yǒu zhī shi , yán yǔ zhōng háo wú zhì huì 。
‘Job speaks without knowledge. His words are without wisdom.’
yuàn yuē bó bèi shì yàn dào dǐ , yīn tā huí dá xiàng è rén yí yàng 。
I wish that Job were tried to the end, because of his answering like wicked men.
tā zài zuì shàng yòu jiā bèi nì ; zài wǒ men zhōng jiān pāi shǒu , yòng xǔ duō yán yǔ qīng màn shén 。
For he adds rebellion to his sin. He claps his hands among us, and multiplies his words against God.”
