你能用鱼钩钓上鳄鱼吗？ 能用绳子压下它的舌头吗？

nǐ néng yòng yú gōu diào shàng è yú ma ？ néng yòng shéng zi yā xià tā de shé tou ma ？

“Can you draw out Leviathan with a fish hook, or press down his tongue with a cord?

你能用绳索穿它的鼻子吗？ 能用钩穿它的腮骨吗？

nǐ néng yòng shéng suǒ chuān tā de bí zi ma ？ néng yòng gōu chuān tā de sāi gǔ ma ？

Can you put a rope into his nose, or pierce his jaw through with a hook?

它岂向你连连恳求， 说柔和的话吗？

tā qǐ xiàng nǐ lián lián kěn qiú ， shuō róu hé de huà ma ？

Will he make many petitions to you, or will he speak soft words to you?

岂肯与你立约， 使你拿它永远作奴仆吗？

qǐ kěn yǔ nǐ lì yuē ， shǐ nǐ ná tā yǒng yuǎn zuò nú pú ma ？

Will he make a covenant with you, that you should take him for a servant forever?

你岂可拿它当雀鸟玩耍吗？ 岂可为你的幼女将它拴住吗？

nǐ qǐ kě ná tā dāng què niǎo wán shuǎ ma ？ qǐ kě wèi nǐ de yòu nǚ jiàng tā shuān zhù ma ？

Will you play with him as with a bird? Or will you bind him for your girls?

搭伙的渔夫岂可拿它当货物吗？ 能把它分给商人吗？

dā huǒ de yú fū qǐ kě ná tā dāng huò wù ma ？ néng bǎ tā fēn gěi shāng rén ma ？

Will traders barter for him? Will they part him among the merchants?

你能用倒钩枪扎满它的皮， 能用鱼叉叉满它的头吗？

nǐ néng yòng dǎo gōu qiāng zhā mǎn tā de pí ， néng yòng yú chā chā mǎn tā de tóu ma ？

Can you fill his skin with barbed irons, or his head with fish spears?

你按手在它身上，想与它争战， 就不再这样行吧！

nǐ àn shǒu zài tā shēn shàng ， xiǎng yǔ tā zhēng zhàn ， jiù bú zài zhè yàng xíng ba ！

Lay your hand on him. Remember the battle, and do so no more.

人指望捉拿它是徒然的； 一见它，岂不丧胆吗？

rén zhǐ wàng zhuō ná tā shì tú rán de ； yí jiàn tā ， qǐ bú sàng dǎn ma ？

Behold, the hope of him is in vain. Won’t one be cast down even at the sight of him?

没有那么凶猛的人敢惹它。 这样，谁能在我面前站立得住呢？

méi yǒu nà me xiōng měng de rén gǎn rě tā 。 zhè yàng ， shuí néng zài wǒ miàn qián zhàn lì dé zhù ne ？

None is so fierce that he dare stir him up. Who then is he who can stand before me?

谁先给我什么，使我偿还呢？ 天下万物都是我的。

shuí xiān gěi wǒ shén me ， shǐ wǒ cháng huán ne ？ tiān xià wàn wù dōu shì wǒ de 。

Who has first given to me, that I should repay him? Everything under the heavens is mine.

论到鳄鱼的肢体和其大力，并美好的骨骼， 我不能缄默不言。

lùn dào è yú de zhī tǐ hé qí dà lì ， bìng měi hǎo de gǔ gé ， wǒ bù néng jiān mò bù yán 。

“I will not keep silence concerning his limbs, nor his mighty strength, nor his goodly frame.

谁能剥它的外衣？ 谁能进它上下牙骨之间呢？

shuí néng bāo tā de wài yī ？ shuí néng jìn tā shàng xià yá gǔ zhī jiān ne ？

Who can strip off his outer garment? Who will come within his jaws?

谁能开它的腮颊？ 它牙齿四围是可畏的。

shuí néng kāi tā de sāi jiá ？ tā yá chǐ sì wéi shì kě wèi de 。

Who can open the doors of his face? Around his teeth is terror.

它以坚固的鳞甲为可夸， 紧紧合闭，封得严密。

tā yǐ jiān gù de lín jiǎ wèi kě kuā ， jǐn jǐn hé bì ， fēng dé yán mì 。

Strong scales are his pride, shut up together with a close seal.

这鳞甲一一相连， 甚至气不得透入其间，

zhè lín jiǎ yī yī xiāng lián ， shèn zhì qì bù dé tòu rù qí jiān ，

One is so near to another, that no air can come between them.

都是互相联络、胶结， 不能分离。

dōu shì hù xiāng lián luò 、 jiāo jié ， bù néng fēn lí 。

They are joined to one another. They stick together, so that they can’t be pulled apart.

它打喷嚏就发出光来； 它眼睛好像早晨的光线 。

tā dǎ pēn tì jiù fā chū guāng lái ； tā yǎn jīng hǎo xiàng zǎo chén de guāng xiàn 。

His sneezing flashes out light. His eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.

从它口中发出烧着的火把， 与飞迸的火星；

cóng tā kǒu zhōng fā chū shāo zhe de huǒ bǎ ， yǔ fēi bèng de huǒ xīng ；

Out of his mouth go burning torches. Sparks of fire leap out.

从它鼻孔冒出烟来， 如烧开的锅和点着的芦苇。

cóng tā bí kǒng mào chū yān lái ， rú shāo kāi de guō hé diǎn zháo de lú wěi 。

Out of his nostrils a smoke goes, as of a boiling pot over a fire of reeds.

它的气点着煤炭， 有火焰从它口中发出。

tā de qì diǎn zháo méi tàn ， yǒu huǒ yàn cóng tā kǒu zhōng fā chū 。

His breath kindles coals. A flame goes out of his mouth.

它颈项中存着劲力； 在它面前的都恐吓蹦跳。

tā jǐng xiàng zhōng cún zhe jìn lì ； zài tā miàn qián de dōu kǒng hè bèng tiào 。

There is strength in his neck. Terror dances before him.

它的肉块互相联络， 紧贴其身，不能摇动。

tā de ròu kuài hù xiāng lián luò ， jǐn tiē qí shēn ， bù néng yáo dòng 。

The flakes of his flesh are joined together. They are firm on him. They can’t be moved.

它的心结实如石头， 如下磨石那样结实。

tā de xīn jiē shi rú shí tou ， rú xià mó shí nà yàng jiē shi 。

His heart is as firm as a stone, yes, firm as the lower millstone.

它一起来，勇士都惊恐， 心里慌乱，便都昏迷。

tā yì qǐ lái ， yǒng shì dōu jīng kǒng ， xīn lǐ huāng luàn ， biàn dōu hūn mí 。

When he raises himself up, the mighty are afraid. They retreat before his thrashing.

人若用刀，用枪，用标枪， 用尖枪扎它，都是无用。

rén ruò yòng dāo ， yòng qiāng ， yòng biāo qiāng ， yòng jiān qiāng zhā tā ， dōu shì wú yòng 。

If one attacks him with the sword, it can’t prevail; nor the spear, the dart, nor the pointed shaft.

它以铁为干草， 以铜为烂木。

tā yǐ tiě wèi gān cǎo ， yǐ tóng wèi làn mù 。

He counts iron as straw, and bronze as rotten wood.

箭不能恐吓它使它逃避； 弹石在它看为碎秸。

jiàn bù néng kǒng hè tā shǐ tā táo bì ； tán shí zài tā kàn wèi suì jiē 。

The arrow can’t make him flee. Sling stones are like chaff to him.

棍棒算为禾秸； 它嗤笑短枪飕的响声。

gùn bàng suàn wèi hé jiē ； tā chī xiào duǎn qiāng sōu de xiǎng shēng 。

Clubs are counted as stubble. He laughs at the rushing of the javelin.

它肚腹下如尖瓦片； 它如钉耙经过淤泥。

tā dù fù xià rú jiān wǎ piàn ； tā rú dīng pá jīng guò yū ní 。

His undersides are like sharp potsherds, leaving a trail in the mud like a threshing sledge.

它使深渊开滚如锅， 使洋海如锅中的膏油。

tā shǐ shēn yuān kāi gǔn rú guō ， shǐ yáng hǎi rú guō zhōng de gāo yóu 。

He makes the deep to boil like a pot. He makes the sea like a pot of ointment.

它行的路随后发光， 令人想深渊如同白发。

tā xíng de lù suí hòu fā guāng ， lìng rén xiǎng shēn yuān rú tóng bái fà 。

He makes a path shine after him. One would think the deep had white hair.

在地上没有像它造的那样， 无所惧怕。

zài dì shàng méi yǒu xiàng tā zào de nà yàng ， wú suǒ jù pà 。

On earth there is not his equal, that is made without fear.

凡高大的，它无不藐视； 它在骄傲的水族上作王。

fán gāo dà de ， tā wú bù miǎo shì ； tā zài jiāo ào de shuǐ zú shàng zuò wáng 。

He sees everything that is high. He is king over all the sons of pride.”
