lì mù yī lè wáng de yán yǔ , shì tā mǔ qīn jiào xùn tā de zhēn yán 。

The words of King Lemuel—the revelation which his mother taught him:

wǒ de ér a , wǒ fù zhōng shēng de ér a , wǒ xǔ yuàn dé de ér a ! wǒ dāng zěn yàng jiào xùn nǐ ne ?

“Oh, my son! Oh, son of my womb! Oh, son of my vows!

bú yào jiāng nǐ de jīng lì gěi fù nǚ ; yě bú yào yǒu bài huài jūn wáng de xíng wéi 。

Don’t give your strength to women, nor your ways to that which destroys kings.

lì mù yī lè a , jūn wáng hē jiǔ , jūn wáng hē jiǔ bù xiāng yí ; wáng zǐ shuō nóng jiǔ zài nà lǐ yě bù xiāng yí ;

It is not for kings, Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine, nor for princes to say, ‘Where is strong drink?’

kǒng pà hē le jiù wàng jì lǜ lì , diān dǎo yí qiè kùn kǔ rén de shì fēi 。

lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the justice due to anyone who is afflicted.

kě yǐ bǎ nóng jiǔ gěi jiāng wáng de rén hē , bǎ qīng jiǔ gěi kǔ xīn de rén hē ,

Give strong drink to him who is ready to perish, and wine to the bitter in soul.

ràng tā hē le , jiù wàng jì tā de pín qióng , bú zài jì niàn tā de kǔ chǔ 。

Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.

nǐ dāng wèi yǎ ba kāi kǒu , wèi yí qiè gū dú de shēn yuān 。

Open your mouth for the mute, in the cause of all who are left desolate.

nǐ dāng kāi kǒu àn gōng yì pàn duàn , wèi kùn kǔ hé qióng fá de biàn qū 。

Open your mouth, judge righteously, and serve justice to the poor and needy.”

cái dé de fù rén shuí néng dé zhe ne ? tā de jià zhí yuǎn shèng guò zhēn zhū 。

Who can find a worthy woman? For her value is far above rubies.

tā zhàng fu xīn lǐ yǐ kào tā , bì bù quē shǎo lì yì ;

The heart of her husband trusts in her. He shall have no lack of gain.

使

tā yì shēng shǐ zhàng fu yǒu yì wú sǔn 。

She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life.

tā xún zhǎo yáng róng hé má , gān xīn yòng shǒu zuò gōng 。

She seeks wool and flax, and works eagerly with her hands.

tā hǎo xiàng shāng chuán cóng yuǎn fāng yùn liáng lái ,

She is like the merchant ships. She brings her bread from afar.

wèi dào lí míng tā jiù qǐ lái , bǎ shí wù fēn gěi jiā zhōng de rén , jiāng dàng zuò de gōng fēn pài bì nǚ 。

She rises also while it is yet night, gives food to her household, and portions for her servant girls.

tā xiǎng dé tián dì jiù mǎi lái ; yòng shǒu suǒ dé zhī lì zāi zhòng pú táo yuán 。

She considers a field, and buys it. With the fruit of her hands, she plants a vineyard.

使

tā yǐ néng lì shù yāo , shǐ bǎng bì yǒu lì 。

She arms her waist with strength, and makes her arms strong.

tā jué de suǒ jīng yíng de yǒu lì ; tā de dēng zhōng yè bú miè 。

She perceives that her merchandise is profitable. Her lamp doesn’t go out by night.

线竿线

tā shǒu ná niǎn xiàn gān , shǒu bǎ fǎng xiàn chē 。

She lays her hands to the distaff, and her hands hold the spindle.

tā zhāng shǒu zhōu jì kùn kǔ rén , shēn shǒu bāng bǔ qióng fá rén 。

She opens her arms to the poor; yes, she extends her hands to the needy.

穿

tā bù yīn xià xuě wèi jiā lǐ de rén dān xīn , yīn wèi quán jiā dōu chuān zhe zhū hóng yī fu 。

She is not afraid of the snow for her household, for all her household are clothed with scarlet.

tā wèi zì jǐ zhì zuò xiù huā tǎn zǐ ; tā de yī fu shì xì má hé zǐ sè bù zuò de 。

She makes for herself carpets of tapestry. Her clothing is fine linen and purple.

tā zhàng fu zài chéng mén kǒu yǔ běn dì de zhǎng lǎo tóng zuò , wèi zhòng rén suǒ rèn shi 。

Her husband is respected in the gates, when he sits among the elders of the land.

tā zuò xì má bù yī shang chū mài , yòu jiāng yāo dài mài yǔ shāng jiā 。

She makes linen garments and sells them, and delivers sashes to the merchant.

néng lì hé wēi yí shì tā de yī fu ; tā xiǎng dào rì hòu de jǐng kuàng jiù xǐ xiào 。

Strength and dignity are her clothing. She laughs at the time to come.

tā kāi kǒu jiù fā zhì huì ; tā shé shàng yǒu rén cí de fǎ zé 。

She opens her mouth with wisdom. Kind instruction is on her tongue.

tā guān chá jiā wù , bìng bù chī xián fàn 。

She looks well to the ways of her household, and doesn’t eat the bread of idleness.

tā de ér nǚ qǐ lái chēng tā yǒu fú ; tā de zhàng fu yě chēng zàn tā ,

Her children rise up and call her blessed. Her husband also praises her:

shuō : cái dé de nǚ zǐ hěn duō , wéi dú nǐ chāo guò yí qiè 。

“Many women do noble things, but you excel them all.”

yàn lì shì xū jiǎ de , měi róng shì xū fú de ; wéi jìng wèi yē hé huá de fù nǚ bì dé chēng zàn 。

Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain; but a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised.

耀

yuàn tā xiǎng shòu cāo zuò suǒ dé de ; yuàn tā de gōng zuò zài chéng mén kǒu róng yào tā 。

Give her of the fruit of her hands! Let her works praise her in the gates!
