rú cǐ shuō lái , wǒ men de zǔ zōng yà bó lā hǎn píng zhe ròu tǐ dé le shén me ne ?

What then will we say that Abraham, our forefather, has found according to the flesh?

tǎng ruò yà bó lā hǎn shì yīn xíng wéi chēng yì , jiù yǒu kě kuā de ; zhǐ shì zài shén miàn qián bìng wú kě kuā 。

For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not toward God.

:「 。」

jīng shàng shuō shén me ne ? shuō :「 yà bó lā hǎn xìn shén , zhè jiù suàn wèi tā de yì 。」

For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”

zuò gōng de dé gōng jià , bú suàn ēn diǎn , nǎi shì gāi dé de ;

Now to him who works, the reward is not counted as grace, but as something owed.

wéi yǒu bú zuò gōng de , zhī xìn chēng zuì rén wéi yì de shén , tā de xìn jiù suàn wèi yì 。

But to him who doesn’t work, but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness.

zhèng rú dà wèi chēng nà zài xíng wéi yǐ wài méng shén suàn wèi yì de rén shì yǒu fú de 。

Even as David also pronounces blessing on the man to whom God counts righteousness apart from works:

tā shuō : dé shè miǎn qí guò 、 zhē gài qí zuì de , zhè rén shì yǒu fú de 。

“Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, whose sins are covered.

zhǔ bú suàn wèi yǒu zuì de , zhè rén shì yǒu fú de 。

Blessed is the man whom the Lord will by no means charge with sin.”

rú cǐ kàn lái , zhè fú shì dān jiā gěi nà shòu gē lǐ de rén ma ? bù yě shì jiā gěi nà wèi shòu gē lǐ de rén ma ? yīn wǒ men suǒ shuō , yà bó lā hǎn de xìn , jiù suàn wèi tā de yì ,

Is this blessing then pronounced only on the circumcised, or on the uncircumcised also? For we say that faith was accounted to Abraham for righteousness.

shì zěn me suàn de ne ? shì zài tā shòu gē lǐ de shí hòu ne ? shì zài tā wèi shòu gē lǐ de shí hòu ne ? bú shì zài shòu gē lǐ de shí hòu , nǎi shì zài wèi shòu gē lǐ de shí hòu 。

How then was it counted? When he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.

使

bìng qiě tā shòu le gē lǐ de jì hào , zuò tā wèi shòu gē lǐ de shí hòu yīn xìn chēng yì de yìn zhèng , jiào tā zuò yí qiè wèi shòu gē lǐ ér xìn zhī rén de fù , shǐ tā men yě suàn wèi yì ;

He received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had while he was in uncircumcision, that he might be the father of all those who believe, though they might be in uncircumcision, that righteousness might also be accounted to them.

yòu zuò shòu gē lǐ zhī rén de fù , jiù shì nà xiē bú dàn shòu gē lǐ , bìng qiě àn wǒ men de zǔ zōng yà bó lā hǎn wèi shòu gē lǐ ér xìn zhī zōng jì qù xíng de rén 。

He is the father of circumcision to those who not only are of the circumcision, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had in uncircumcision.

yīn wèi shén yīng xǔ yà bó lā hǎn hé tā hòu yì , bì dé chéng shòu shì jiè , bú shì yīn lǜ fǎ , nǎi shì yīn xìn ér dé de yì 。

For the promise to Abraham and to his offspring that he would be heir of the world wasn’t through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

ruò shì shǔ hū lǜ fǎ de rén cái dé wèi hòu sì , xìn jiù guī yú xū kōng , yīng xǔ yě jiù fèi qì le 。

For if those who are of the law are heirs, faith is made void, and the promise is made of no effect.

忿

yīn wèi lǜ fǎ shì rě dòng fèn nù de ; nǎ lǐ méi yǒu lǜ fǎ , nà lǐ jiù méi yǒu guò fàn 。

For the law produces wrath; for where there is no law, neither is there disobedience.

suǒ yǐ rén dé wèi hòu sì shì běn hū xìn , yīn cǐ jiù shǔ hū ēn , jiào yīng xǔ dìng rán guī gěi yí qiè hòu yì ; bú dàn guī gěi nà shǔ hū lǜ fǎ de , yě guī gěi nà xiào fǎ yà bó lā hǎn zhī xìn de 。

For this cause it is of faith, that it may be according to grace, to the end that the promise may be sure to all the offspring, not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all.

使 :「。」

yà bó lā hǎn suǒ xìn de , shì nà jiào sǐ rén fù huó 、 shǐ wú biàn wèi yǒu de shén , tā zài zhǔ miàn qián zuò wǒ men shì rén de fù 。 rú jīng shàng suǒ jì :「 wǒ yǐ jīng lì nǐ zuò duō guó de fù 。」

As it is written, “I have made you a father of many nations.” This is in the presence of him whom he believed: God, who gives life to the dead, and calls the things that are not, as though they were.

:「。」

tā zài wú kě zhǐ wàng de shí hòu , yīn xìn réng yǒu zhǐ wàng , jiù dé yǐ zuò duō guó de fù , zhèng rú xiān qián suǒ shuō :「 nǐ de hòu yì jiāng yào rú cǐ 。」

Against hope, Abraham in hope believed, to the end that he might become a father of many nations, according to that which had been spoken, “So will your offspring be.”

tā jiāng jìn bǎi suì de shí hòu , suī rán xiǎng dào zì jǐ de shēn tǐ rú tóng yǐ sǐ , sā lā de shēng yù yǐ jīng duàn jué , tā de xìn xīn hái shì bù ruǎn ruò ;

Without being weakened in faith, he didn’t consider his own body, already having been worn out, (he being about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb.

bìng qiě yǎng wàng shén de yīng xǔ , zǒng méi yǒu yīn bú xìn xīn lǐ qǐ yí huò , fǎn dǎo yīn xìn xīn lǐ dé jiān gù , jiāng róng yào guī gěi shén ,

Yet, looking to the promise of God, he didn’t waver through unbelief, but grew strong through faith, giving glory to God,

qiě mǎn xīn xiāng xìn shén suǒ yīng xǔ de bì néng zuò chéng 。

and being fully assured that what he had promised, he was also able to perform.

suǒ yǐ , zhè jiù suàn wèi tā de yì 。

Therefore it also was “credited to him for righteousness.”

「 suàn wèi tā yì 」 de zhè jù huà bú shì dān wèi tā xiě de ,

Now it was not written that it was accounted to him for his sake alone,

使

yě shì wèi wǒ men jiāng lái de suàn wèi yì zhī rén xiě de , jiù shì wǒ men zhè xìn shén shǐ wǒ men de zhǔ yē sū cóng sǐ lǐ fù huó de rén 。

but for our sake also, to whom it will be accounted, who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead,

yē sū bèi jiāo gěi rén , shì wèi wǒ men de guò fàn ; fù huó , shì wèi jiào wǒ men chēng yì 。

who was delivered up for our trespasses, and was raised for our justification.
