大衛數點跟隨他的人，立千夫長、百夫長率領他們。

dà wèi shù diǎn gēn suí tā de rén ， lì qiān fū cháng 、 bǎi fū zhǎng shuài lǐng tā men 。

David counted the people who were with him, and set captains of thousands and captains of hundreds over them.

大衛打發軍兵出戰，分為三隊：一隊在約押手下，一隊在洗魯雅的兒子、約押兄弟亞比篩手下，一隊在迦特人以太手下。大衛對軍兵說：「我必與你們一同出戰。」

dà wèi dǎ fā jūn bīng chū zhàn ， fēn wéi sān duì ： yí duì zài yuē yā shǒu xià ， yí duì zài xǐ lǔ yǎ de ér zi 、 yuē yā xiōng dì yà bǐ shāi shǒu xià ， yí duì zài jiā tè rén yǐ tài shǒu xià 。 dà wèi duì jūn bīng shuō ：「 wǒ bì yǔ nǐ men yì tóng chū zhàn 。」

David sent the people out, a third part under the hand of Joab, and a third part under the hand of Abishai the son of Zeruiah, Joab’s brother, and a third part under the hand of Ittai the Gittite. The king said to the people, “I will also surely go out with you myself.”

軍兵卻說：「你不可出戰。若是我們逃跑，敵人必不介意；我們陣亡一半，敵人也不介意。因為你一人強似我們萬人，你不如在城裏預備幫助我們。」

jūn bīng què shuō ：「 nǐ bù kě chū zhàn 。 ruò shì wǒ men táo pǎo ， dí rén bì bú jiè yì ； wǒ men zhèn wáng yí bàn ， dí rén yě bú jiè yì 。 yīn wèi nǐ yì rén qiáng sì wǒ men wàn rén ， nǐ bù rú zài chéng lǐ yù bèi bāng zhù wǒ men 。」

But the people said, “You shall not go out, for if we flee away, they will not care for us, neither if half of us die, will they care for us. But you are worth ten thousand of us. Therefore now it is better that you are ready to help us out of the city.”

王向他們說：「你們以為怎樣好，我就怎樣行。」於是王站在城門旁，軍兵或百或千地挨次出去了。

wáng xiàng tā men shuō ：「 nǐ men yǐ wéi zěn yàng hǎo ， wǒ jiù zěn yàng xíng 。」 yú shì wáng zhàn zài chéng mén páng ， jūn bīng huò bǎi huò qiān dì āi cì chū qù le 。

The king said to them, “I will do what seems best to you.” The king stood beside the gate, and all the people went out by hundreds and by thousands.

王囑咐約押、亞比篩、以太說：「你們要為我的緣故寬待那少年人押沙龍。」王為押沙龍囑咐眾將的話，兵都聽見了。

wáng zhǔ fù yuē yā 、 yà bǐ shāi 、 yǐ tài shuō ：「 nǐ men yào wèi wǒ de yuán gù kuān dài nà shǎo nián rén yā shā lóng 。」 wáng wèi yā shā lóng zhǔ fù zhòng jiāng de huà ， bīng dōu tīng jiàn le 。

The king commanded Joab and Abishai and Ittai, saying, “Deal gently for my sake with the young man Absalom.” All the people heard when the king commanded all the captains concerning Absalom.

兵就出到田野迎着以色列人，在以法蓮樹林裏交戰。

bīng jiù chū dào tián yě yíng zhe yǐ sè liè rén ， zài yǐ fǎ lián shù lín lǐ jiāo zhàn 。

So the people went out into the field against Israel; and the battle was in the forest of Ephraim.

以色列人敗在大衛的僕人面前；那日陣亡的甚多，共有二萬人。

yǐ sè liè rén bài zài dà wèi de pú rén miàn qián ； nà rì zhèn wáng de shèn duō ， gòng yǒu èr wàn rén 。

The people of Israel were struck there before David’s servants, and there was a great slaughter there that day of twenty thousand men.

因為在那裏四面打仗，死於樹林的比死於刀劍的更多。

yīn wèi zài nà lǐ sì miàn dǎ zhàng ， sǐ yú shù lín de bǐ sǐ yú dāo jiàn de gèng duō 。

For the battle was there spread over the surface of all the country, and the forest devoured more people that day than the sword devoured.

押沙龍偶然遇見大衛的僕人。押沙龍騎着騾子，從大橡樹密枝底下經過，他的頭髮被樹枝繞住，就懸掛起來，所騎的騾子便離他去了。

yā shā lóng ǒu rán yù jiàn dà wèi de pú rén 。 yā shā lóng qí zhe luó zǐ ， cóng dà xiàng shù mì zhī dǐ xià jīng guò ， tā de tóu fā bèi shù zhī rào zhù ， jiù xuán guà qǐ lái ， suǒ qí de luó zǐ biàn lí tā qù le 。

Absalom happened to meet David’s servants. Absalom was riding on his mule, and the mule went under the thick boughs of a great oak; and his head caught hold of the oak, and he was hanging between the sky and earth; and the mule that was under him went on.

有個人看見，就告訴約押說：「我看見押沙龍掛在橡樹上了。」

yǒu gè rén kàn jiàn ， jiù gào sù yuē yā shuō ：「 wǒ kàn jiàn yā shā lóng guà zài xiàng shù shàng le 。」

A certain man saw it, and told Joab, and said, “Behold, I saw Absalom hanging in an oak.”

約押對報信的人說：「你既看見他，為甚麼不將他打死落在地上呢？你若打死他，我就賞你十舍客勒銀子，一條帶子。」

yuē yā duì bào xìn de rén shuō ：「 nǐ jì kàn jiàn tā ， wèi shén me bù jiāng tā dǎ sǐ luò zài dì shàng ne ？ nǐ ruò dǎ sǐ tā ， wǒ jiù shǎng nǐ shí shè kè lè yín zi ， yì tiáo dài zǐ 。」

Joab said to the man who told him, “Behold, you saw it, and why didn’t you strike him there to the ground? I would have given you ten pieces of silver and a sash.”

那人對約押說：「我就是得你一千舍客勒銀子，我也不敢伸手害王的兒子；因為我們聽見王囑咐你和亞比篩並以太說：『你們要謹慎，不可害那少年人押沙龍。』

nà rén duì yuē yā shuō ：「 wǒ jiù shì dé nǐ yì qiān shè kè lè yín zi ， wǒ yě bù gǎn shēn shǒu hài wáng de ér zi ； yīn wèi wǒ men tīng jiàn wáng zhǔ fù nǐ hé yà bǐ shāi bìng yǐ tài shuō ：『 nǐ men yào jǐn shèn ， bù kě hài nà shào nián rén yā shā lóng 。』

The man said to Joab, “Though I should receive a thousand pieces of silver in my hand, I still wouldn’t stretch out my hand against the king’s son; for in our hearing the king commanded you and Abishai and Ittai, saying, ‘Beware that no one touch the young man Absalom.’

我若妄為害了他的性命，就是你自己也必與我為敵（原來，無論何事都瞞不過王。）」

wǒ ruò wàng wéi hài le tā de xìng mìng ， jiù shì nǐ zì jǐ yě bì yǔ wǒ wèi dí （ yuán lái ， wú lùn hé shì dōu mán bú guò wáng 。）」

Otherwise, if I had dealt falsely against his life (and there is no matter hidden from the king), then you yourself would have set yourself against me.”

約押說：「我不能與你留連。」約押手拿三杆短槍，趁押沙龍在橡樹上還活着，就刺透他的心。

yuē yā shuō ：「 wǒ bù néng yǔ nǐ liú lián 。」 yuē yā shǒu ná sān gān duǎn qiāng ， chèn yā shā lóng zài xiàng shù shàng hái huó zhe ， jiù cì tòu tā de xīn 。

Then Joab said, “I’m not going to wait like this with you.” He took three darts in his hand and thrust them through Absalom’s heart while he was still alive in the middle of the oak.

給約押拿兵器的十個少年人圍繞押沙龍，將他殺死。

gěi yuē yā ná bīng qì de shí gè shào nián rén wéi rào yā shā lóng ， jiāng tā shā sǐ 。

Ten young men who bore Joab’s armor surrounded and struck Absalom, and killed him.

約押吹角，攔阻眾人，他們就回來，不再追趕以色列人。

yuē yā chuī jiǎo ， lán zǔ zhòng rén ， tā men jiù huí lái ， bú zài zhuī gǎn yǐ sè liè rén 。

Joab blew the trumpet, and the people returned from pursuing after Israel; for Joab held the people back.

他們將押沙龍丟在林中一個大坑裏，上頭堆起一大堆石頭。以色列眾人都逃跑，各回各家去了。

tā men jiāng yā shā lóng diū zài lín zhōng yí gè dà kēng lǐ ， shàng tóu duī qǐ yí dà duī shí tou 。 yǐ sè liè zhòng rén dōu táo pǎo ， gè huí gè jiā qù le 。

They took Absalom and cast him into a great pit in the forest, and raised over him a very great heap of stones. Then all Israel fled, each to his own tent.

押沙龍活着的時候，在王谷立了一根石柱，因他說：「我沒有兒子為我留名。」他就以自己的名稱那石柱叫押沙龍柱，直到今日。

yā shā lóng huó zhe de shí hòu ， zài wáng gǔ lì le yì gēn shí zhù ， yīn tā shuō ：「 wǒ méi yǒu ér zi wèi wǒ liú míng 。」 tā jiù yǐ zì jǐ de míng chēng nà shí zhù jiào yā shā lóng zhù ， zhí dào jīn rì 。

Now Absalom in his lifetime had taken and reared up for himself the pillar which is in the king’s valley, for he said, “I have no son to keep my name in memory.” He called the pillar after his own name. It is called Absalom’s monument, to this day.

撒督的兒子亞希瑪斯說：「容我跑去，將耶和華向仇敵給王報仇的信息報與王知。」

sā dū de ér zi yà xī mǎ sī shuō ：「 róng wǒ pǎo qù ， jiāng yē hé huá xiàng chóu dí gěi wáng bào chóu de xìn xī bào yǔ wáng zhī 。」

Then Ahimaaz the son of Zadok said, “Let me now run and carry the king news, how the LORD has avenged him of his enemies.”

約押對他說：「你今日不可去報信，改日可以報信；因為今日王的兒子死了，所以你不可去報信。」

yuē yā duì tā shuō ：「 nǐ jīn rì bù kě qù bào xìn ， gǎi rì kě yǐ bào xìn ； yīn wèi jīn rì wáng de ér zi sǐ le ， suǒ yǐ nǐ bù kě qù bào xìn 。」

Joab said to him, “You must not be the bearer of news today, but you must carry news another day. But today you must carry no news, because the king’s son is dead.”

約押對古示人說：「你去將你所看見的告訴王。」古示人在約押面前下拜，就跑去了。

yuē yā duì gǔ shì rén shuō ：「 nǐ qù jiāng nǐ suǒ kàn jiàn de gào sù wáng 。」 gǔ shì rén zài yuē yā miàn qián xià bài ， jiù pǎo qù le 。

Then Joab said to the Cushite, “Go, tell the king what you have seen!” The Cushite bowed himself to Joab, and ran.

撒督的兒子亞希瑪斯又對約押說：「無論怎樣，求你容我隨着古示人跑去。」約押說：「我兒，你報這信息，既不得賞賜，何必要跑去呢？」

sā dū de ér zi yà xī mǎ sī yòu duì yuē yā shuō ：「 wú lùn zěn yàng ， qiú nǐ róng wǒ suí zhe gǔ shì rén pǎo qù 。」 yuē yā shuō ：「 wǒ ér ， nǐ bào zhè xìn xī ， jì bù dé shǎng cì ， hé bì yào pǎo qù ne ？」

Then Ahimaaz the son of Zadok said yet again to Joab, “But come what may, please let me also run after the Cushite.” Joab said, “Why do you want to run, my son, since you will have no reward for the news?”

他又說：「無論怎樣，我要跑去。」約押說：「你跑去吧！」亞希瑪斯就從平原往前跑，跑過古示人去了。

tā yòu shuō ：「 wú lùn zěn yàng ， wǒ yào pǎo qù 。」 yuē yā shuō ：「 nǐ pǎo qù ba ！」 yà xī mǎ sī jiù cóng píng yuán wǎng qián pǎo ， pǎo guò gǔ shì rén qù le 。

“But come what may,” he said, “I will run.” He said to him, “Run!” Then Ahimaaz ran by the way of the Plain, and outran the Cushite.

大衛正坐在城甕裏。守望的人上城門樓的頂上，舉目觀看，見有一個人獨自跑來。

dà wèi zhèng zuò zài chéng wèng lǐ 。 shǒu wàng de rén shàng chéng mén lóu de dǐng shàng ， jǔ mù guān kàn ， jiàn yǒu yí gè rén dú zì pǎo lái 。

Now David was sitting between the two gates; and the watchman went up to the roof of the gate to the wall, and lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, a man running alone.

守望的人就大聲告訴王。王說：「他若獨自來，必是報口信的。」那人跑得漸漸近了。

shǒu wàng de rén jiù dà shēng gào sù wáng 。 wáng shuō ：「 tā ruò dú zì lái ， bì shì bào kǒu xìn de 。」 nà rén pǎo dé jiàn jiàn jìn le 。

The watchman shouted and told the king. The king said, “If he is alone, there is news in his mouth.” He came closer and closer.

守望的人又見一人跑來，就對守城門的人說：「又有一人獨自跑來。」王說：「這也必是報信的。」

shǒu wàng de rén yòu jiàn yì rén pǎo lái ， jiù duì shǒu chéng mén de rén shuō ：「 yòu yǒu yì rén dú zì pǎo lái 。」 wáng shuō ：「 zhè yě bì shì bào xìn de 。」

The watchman saw another man running; and the watchman called to the gatekeeper and said, “Behold, a man running alone!” The king said, “He also brings news.”

守望的人說：「我看前頭人的跑法，好像撒督的兒子亞希瑪斯的跑法一樣。」王說：「他是個好人，必是報好信息。」

shǒu wàng de rén shuō ：「 wǒ kàn qián tou rén de pǎo fǎ ， hǎo xiàng sā dū de ér zi yà xī mǎ sī de pǎo fǎ yí yàng 。」 wáng shuō ：「 tā shì gè hǎo rén ， bì shì bào hǎo xìn xī 。」

The watchman said, “I think the running of the first one is like the running of Ahimaaz the son of Zadok.” The king said, “He is a good man, and comes with good news.”

亞希瑪斯向王呼叫說：「平安了！」就在王面前臉伏於地叩拜，說：「耶和華－你的上帝是應當稱頌的，因他已將那舉手攻擊我主我王的人交給王了。」

yà xī mǎ sī xiàng wáng hū jiào shuō ：「 píng ān le ！」 jiù zài wáng miàn qián liǎn fú yú dì kòu bài ， shuō ：「 yē hé huá — nǐ de shén shì yīng dāng chēng sòng de ， yīn tā yǐ jiāng nà jǔ shǒu gōng jī wǒ zhǔ wǒ wáng de rén jiāo gěi wáng le 。」

Ahimaaz called, and said to the king, “All is well.” He bowed himself before the king with his face to the earth, and said, “Blessed is the LORD your God, who has delivered up the men who lifted up their hand against my lord the king!”

王問說：「少年人押沙龍平安不平安？」亞希瑪斯回答說：「約押打發王的僕人，那時僕人聽見眾民大聲喧嘩，卻不知道是甚麼事。」

wáng wèn shuō ：「 shào nián rén yā shā lóng píng ān bù píng ān ？」 yà xī mǎ sī huí dá shuō ：「 yuē yā dǎ fā wáng de pú rén ， nà shí pú rén tīng jiàn zhòng mín dà shēng xuān huá ， què bù zhī dào shì shén me shì 。」

The king said, “Is it well with the young man Absalom?” Ahimaaz answered, “When Joab sent the king’s servant, even me your servant, I saw a great tumult, but I don’t know what it was.”

王說：「你退去，站在旁邊。」他就退去，站在旁邊。

wáng shuō ：「 nǐ tuì qù ， zhàn zài páng biān 。」 tā jiù tuì qù ， zhàn zài páng biān 。

The king said, “Come and stand here.” He came and stood still.

古示人也來到，說：「有信息報給我主我王！耶和華今日向一切興起攻擊你的人給你報仇了。」

gǔ shì rén yě lái dào ， shuō ：「 yǒu xìn xī bào gěi wǒ zhǔ wǒ wáng ！ yē hé huá jīn rì xiàng yí qiè xīng qǐ gōng jī nǐ de rén gěi nǐ bào chóu le 。」

Behold, the Cushite came. The Cushite said, “Good news for my lord the king, for the LORD has avenged you today of all those who rose up against you.”

王問古示人說：「少年人押沙龍平安不平安？」古示人回答說：「願我主我王的仇敵，和一切興起要殺害你的人，都與那少年人一樣。」

wáng wèn gǔ shì rén shuō ：「 shào nián rén yā shā lóng píng ān bù píng ān ？」 gǔ shì rén huí dá shuō ：「 yuàn wǒ zhǔ wǒ wáng de chóu dí ， hé yí qiè xīng qǐ yào shā hài nǐ de rén ， dōu yǔ nà shào nián rén yí yàng 。」

The king said to the Cushite, “Is it well with the young man Absalom?” The Cushite answered, “May the enemies of my lord the king, and all who rise up against you to do you harm, be as that young man is.”

王就心裏傷慟，上城門樓去哀哭，一面走一面說：「我兒押沙龍啊！我兒，我兒押沙龍啊！我恨不得替你死，押沙龍啊，我兒！我兒！」

wáng jiù xīn lǐ shāng tòng ， shàng chéng mén lóu qù āi kū ， yí miàn zǒu yí miàn shuō ：「 wǒ ér yā shā lóng a ！ wǒ ér ， wǒ ér yā shā lóng a ！ wǒ hèn bù dé tì nǐ sǐ ， yā shā lóng a ， wǒ ér ！ wǒ ér ！」

The king was much moved, and went up to the room over the gate and wept. As he went, he said, “My son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom! I wish I had died instead of you, Absalom, my son, my son!”
