出埃及記 18

摩西的岳父，米甸祭司葉忒羅，聽見上帝為摩西和上帝的百姓以色列所行的一切事，就是耶和華將以色列從埃及領出來的事，

mó xī de yuè fù ， mǐ diàn jì sī yè tè luó ， tīng jiàn shén wèi mó xī hé shén de bǎi xìng yǐ sè liè suǒ xíng de yí qiè shì ， jiù shì yē hé huá jiāng yǐ sè liè cóng āi jí lǐng chū lái de shì ，

Now Jethro, the priest of Midian, Moses’ father-in-law, heard of all that God had done for Moses and for Israel his people, how the LORD had brought Israel out of Egypt.

便帶着摩西的妻子西坡拉，就是摩西從前打發回去的，

biàn dài zhe mó xī de qī zǐ xī pō lā ， jiù shì mó xī cóng qián dǎ fā huí qù de ，

Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, received Zipporah, Moses’ wife, after he had sent her away,

又帶着西坡拉的兩個兒子，一個名叫革舜，因為摩西說：「我在外邦作了寄居的」；

yòu dài zhe xī pō lā de liǎng gè ér zi ， yí gè míng jiào gé shùn ， yīn wèi mó xī shuō ：「 wǒ zài wài bāng zuò le jì jū de 」；

and her two sons. The name of one son was Gershom, for Moses said, “I have lived as a foreigner in a foreign land”.

一個名叫以利以謝，因為他說：「我父親的上帝幫助了我，救我脫離法老的刀。」

yí gè míng jiào yǐ lì yǐ xiè ， yīn wèi tā shuō ：「 wǒ fù qīn de shén bāng zhù le wǒ ， jiù wǒ tuō lí fǎ lǎo de dāo 。」

The name of the other was Eliezer, for he said, “My father’s God was my help and delivered me from Pharaoh’s sword.”

摩西的岳父葉忒羅帶着摩西的妻子和兩個兒子來到上帝的山，就是摩西在曠野安營的地方。

mó xī de yuè fù yè tè luó dài zhe mó xī de qī zǐ hé liǎng gè ér zi lái dào shén de shān ， jiù shì mó xī zài kuàng yě ān yíng de dì fāng 。

Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, came with Moses’ sons and his wife to Moses into the wilderness where he was encamped, at the Mountain of God.

他對摩西說：「我是你岳父葉忒羅，帶着你的妻子和兩個兒子來到你這裏。」

tā duì mó xī shuō ：「 wǒ shì nǐ yuè fù yè tè luó ， dài zhe nǐ de qī zǐ hé liǎng gè ér zi lái dào nǐ zhè lǐ 。」

He said to Moses, “I, your father-in-law Jethro, have come to you with your wife, and her two sons with her.”

摩西迎接他的岳父，向他下拜，與他親嘴，彼此問安，都進了帳棚。

mó xī yíng jiē tā de yuè fù ， xiàng tā xià bài ， yǔ tā qīn zuǐ ， bǐ cǐ wèn ān ， dōu jìn le zhàng péng 。

Moses went out to meet his father-in-law, and bowed and kissed him. They asked each other of their welfare, and they came into the tent.

摩西將耶和華為以色列的緣故向法老和埃及人所行的一切事，以及路上所遭遇的一切艱難，並耶和華怎樣搭救他們，都述說與他岳父聽。

mó xī jiāng yē hé huá wèi yǐ sè liè de yuán gù xiàng fǎ lǎo hé āi jí rén suǒ xíng de yí qiè shì ， yǐ jí lù shang suǒ zāo yù de yí qiè jiān nán ， bìng yē hé huá zěn yàng dā jiù tā men ， dōu shù shuō yǔ tā yuè fù tīng 。

Moses told his father-in-law all that the LORD had done to Pharaoh and to the Egyptians for Israel’s sake, all the hardships that had come on them on the way, and how the LORD delivered them.

葉忒羅因耶和華待以色列的一切好處，就是拯救他們脫離埃及人的手，便甚歡喜。

yè tè luó yīn yē hé huá dài yǐ sè liè de yí qiè hǎo chù ， jiù shì zhěng jiù tā men tuō lí āi jí rén de shǒu ， biàn shèn huān xǐ 。

Jethro rejoiced for all the goodness which the LORD had done to Israel, in that he had delivered them out of the hand of the Egyptians.

葉忒羅說：「耶和華是應當稱頌的；他救了你們脫離埃及人和法老的手，將這百姓從埃及人的手下救出來。

yè tè luó shuō ：「 yē hé huá shì yīng dāng chēng sòng de ； tā jiù le nǐ men tuō lí āi jí rén hé fǎ lǎo de shǒu ， jiāng zhè bǎi xìng cóng āi jí rén de shǒu xià jiù chū lái 。

Jethro said, “Blessed be the LORD, who has delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of Pharaoh; who has delivered the people from under the hand of the Egyptians.

我現今在埃及人向這百姓發狂傲的事上得知，耶和華比萬神都大。」

wǒ xiàn jīn zài āi jí rén xiàng zhè bǎi xìng fā kuáng ào de shì shàng dé zhī ， yē hé huá bǐ wàn shén dōu dà 。」

Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods because of the way that they treated people arrogantly.”

摩西的岳父葉忒羅把燔祭和平安祭獻給上帝。亞倫和以色列的眾長老都來了，與摩西的岳父在上帝面前吃飯。

mó xī de yuè fù yè tè luó bǎ fán jì hé píng ān jì xiàn gěi shén 。 yà lún hé yǐ sè liè de zhòng zhǎng lǎo dōu lái le ， yǔ mó xī de yuè fù zài shén miàn qián chī fàn 。

Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, took a burnt offering and sacrifices for God. Aaron came with all the elders of Israel, to eat bread with Moses’ father-in-law before God.

第二天，摩西坐着審判百姓，百姓從早到晚都站在摩西的左右。

dì èr tiān ， mó xī zuò zhe shěn pàn bǎi xìng ， bǎi xìng cóng zǎo dào wǎn dōu zhàn zài mó xī de zuǒ yòu 。

On the next day, Moses sat to judge the people, and the people stood around Moses from the morning to the evening.

摩西的岳父看見他向百姓所做的一切事，就說：「你向百姓做的是甚麼事呢？你為甚麼獨自坐着，眾百姓從早到晚都站在你的左右呢？」

mó xī de yuè fù kàn jiàn tā xiàng bǎi xìng suǒ zuò de yí qiè shì ， jiù shuō ：「 nǐ xiàng bǎi xìng zuò de shì shén me shì ne ？ nǐ wèi shén me dú zì zuò zhe ， zhòng bǎi xìng cóng zǎo dào wǎn dōu zhàn zài nǐ de zuǒ yòu ne ？」

When Moses’ father-in-law saw all that he did to the people, he said, “What is this thing that you do for the people? Why do you sit alone, and all the people stand around you from morning to evening?”

摩西對岳父說：「這是因百姓到我這裏來求問上帝。

mó xī duì yuè fù shuō ：「 zhè shì yīn bǎi xìng dào wǒ zhè lǐ lái qiú wèn shén 。

Moses said to his father-in-law, “Because the people come to me to inquire of God.

他們有事的時候就到我這裏來，我便在兩造之間施行審判；我又叫他們知道上帝的律例和法度。」

tā men yǒu shì de shí hòu jiù dào wǒ zhè lǐ lái ， wǒ biàn zài liǎng zào zhī jiān shī xíng shěn pàn ； wǒ yòu jiào tā men zhī dào shén de lǜ lì hé fǎ dù 。」

When they have a matter, they come to me, and I judge between a man and his neighbor, and I make them know the statutes of God, and his laws.”

摩西的岳父說：「你這做的不好。

mó xī de yuè fù shuō ：「 nǐ zhè zuò de bù hǎo 。

Moses’ father-in-law said to him, “The thing that you do is not good.

你和這些百姓必都疲憊；因為這事太重，你獨自一人辦理不了。

nǐ hé zhè xiē bǎi xìng bì dōu pí bèi ； yīn wèi zhè shì tài zhòng ， nǐ dú zì yì rén bàn lǐ bù liǎo 。

You will surely wear away, both you, and this people that is with you; for the thing is too heavy for you. You are not able to perform it yourself alone.

現在你要聽我的話。我為你出個主意，願上帝與你同在。你要替百姓到上帝面前，將案件奏告上帝；

xiàn zài nǐ yào tīng wǒ de huà 。 wǒ wèi nǐ chū gè zhǔ yì ， yuàn shén yǔ nǐ tóng zài 。 nǐ yào tì bǎi xìng dào shén miàn qián ， jiāng àn jiàn zòu gào shén ；

Listen now to my voice. I will give you counsel, and God be with you. You represent the people before God, and bring the causes to God.

又要將律例和法度教訓他們，指示他們當行的道，當做的事；

yòu yào jiāng lǜ lì hé fǎ dù jiào xùn tā men ， zhǐ shì tā men dāng xíng de dào ， dàng zuò de shì ；

You shall teach them the statutes and the laws, and shall show them the way in which they must walk, and the work that they must do.

並要從百姓中揀選有才能的人，就是敬畏上帝、誠實無妄、恨不義之財的人，派他們作千夫長、百夫長、五十夫長、十夫長，管理百姓，

bìng yào cóng bǎi xìng zhōng jiǎn xuǎn yǒu cái néng de rén ， jiù shì jìng wèi shén 、 chéng shí wú wàng 、 hèn bú yì zhī cái de rén ， pài tā men zuò qiān fū cháng 、 bǎi fū zhǎng 、 wǔ shí fū cháng 、 shí fū cháng ， guǎn lǐ bǎi xìng ，

Moreover you shall provide out of all the people able men which fear God: men of truth, hating unjust gain; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.

叫他們隨時審判百姓，大事都要呈到你這裏，小事他們自己可以審判。這樣，你就輕省些，他們也可以同當此任。

jiào tā men suí shí shěn pàn bǎi xìng ， dà shì dōu yào chéng dào nǐ zhè lǐ ， xiǎo shì tā men zì jǐ kě yǐ shěn pàn 。 zhè yàng ， nǐ jiù qīng shěng xiē ， tā men yě kě yǐ tóng dāng cǐ rèn 。

Let them judge the people at all times. It shall be that every great matter they shall bring to you, but every small matter they shall judge themselves. So shall it be easier for you, and they shall share the load with you.

你若這樣行，上帝也這樣吩咐你，你就能受得住，這百姓也都平平安安歸回他們的住處。」

nǐ ruò zhè yàng xíng ， shén yě zhè yàng fēn fù nǐ ， nǐ jiù néng shòu dé zhù ， zhè bǎi xìng yě dōu píng píng ān ān guī huí tā men de zhù chù 。」

If you will do this thing, and God commands you so, then you will be able to endure, and all these people also will go to their place in peace.”

於是，摩西聽從他岳父的話，按着他所說的去行。

yú shì ， mó xī tīng cóng tā yuè fù de huà ， àn zhe tā suǒ shuō de qù xíng 。

So Moses listened to the voice of his father-in-law, and did all that he had said.

摩西從以色列人中揀選了有才能的人，立他們為百姓的首領，作千夫長、百夫長、五十夫長、十夫長。

mó xī cóng yǐ sè liè rén zhōng jiǎn xuǎn le yǒu cái néng de rén ， lì tā men wèi bǎi xìng de shǒu lǐng ， zuò qiān fū cháng 、 bǎi fū zhǎng 、 wǔ shí fū cháng 、 shí fū cháng 。

Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.

他們隨時審判百姓，有難斷的案件就呈到摩西那裏，但各樣小事他們自己審判。

tā men suí shí shěn pàn bǎi xìng ， yǒu nán duàn de àn jiàn jiù chéng dào mó xī nà lǐ ， dàn gè yàng xiǎo shì tā men zì jǐ shěn pàn 。

They judged the people at all times. They brought the hard cases to Moses, but every small matter they judged themselves.

此後，摩西讓他的岳父去，他就往本地去了。

cǐ hòu ， mó xī ràng tā de yuè fù qù ， tā jiù wǎng běn dì qù le 。

Moses let his father-in-law depart, and he went his way into his own land.
