以斯拉記 4

猶大和便雅憫的敵人聽說被擄歸回的人為耶和華－以色列的上帝建造殿宇，

yóu dà hé biàn yǎ mǐn de dí rén tīng shuō bèi lǔ guī huí de rén wéi yē hé huá — yǐ sè liè de shén jiàn zào diàn yǔ ，

Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the children of the captivity were building a temple to the LORD, the God of Israel,

就去見所羅巴伯和以色列的族長，對他們說：「請容我們與你們一同建造；因為我們尋求你們的上帝，與你們一樣。自從亞述王以撒哈頓帶我們上這地以來，我們常祭祀上帝。」

jiù qù jiàn suǒ luó bā bó hé yǐ sè liè de zú zhǎng ， duì tā men shuō ：「 qǐng róng wǒ men yǔ nǐ men yì tóng jiàn zào ； yīn wèi wǒ men xún qiú nǐ men de shén ， yǔ nǐ men yí yàng 。 zì cóng yà shù wáng yǐ sā hā dùn dài wǒ men shàng zhè dì yǐ lái ， wǒ men cháng jì sì shén 。」

they came near to Zerubbabel, and to the heads of fathers’ households, and said to them, “Let us build with you, for we seek your God as you do; and we have been sacrificing to him since the days of Esar Haddon king of Assyria, who brought us up here.”

但所羅巴伯、耶書亞，和其餘以色列的族長對他們說：「我們建造上帝的殿與你們無干，我們自己為耶和華－以色列的上帝協力建造，是照波斯王塞魯士所吩咐的。」

dàn suǒ luó bā bó 、 yē shū yà ， hé qí yú yǐ sè liè de zú zhǎng duì tā men shuō ：「 wǒ men jiàn zào shén de diàn yǔ nǐ men wú gān ， wǒ men zì jǐ wèi yē hé huá — yǐ sè liè de shén xié lì jiàn zào ， shì zhào bō sī wáng sāi lǔ shì suǒ fēn fù de 。」

But Zerubbabel, Jeshua, and the rest of the heads of fathers’ households of Israel said to them, “You have nothing to do with us in building a house to our God; but we ourselves together will build to the LORD, the God of Israel, as King Cyrus the king of Persia has commanded us.”

那地的民，就在猶大人建造的時候，使他們的手發軟，擾亂他們；

nà dì de mín ， jiù zài yóu dà rén jiàn zào de shí hòu ， shǐ tā men de shǒu fā ruǎn ， rǎo luàn tā men ；

Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building.

從波斯王塞魯士年間，直到波斯王大流士登基的時候，賄買謀士，要敗壞他們的謀算。

cóng bō sī wáng sāi lǔ shì nián jiān ， zhí dào bō sī wáng dà liú shì dēng jī de shí hòu ， huì mǎi móu shì ， yào bài huài tā men de móu suàn 。

They hired counselors against them to frustrate their purpose all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia.

在亞哈隨魯才登基的時候，上本控告猶大和耶路撒冷的居民。

zài yà hā suí lǔ cái dēng jī de shí hòu ， shàng běn kòng gào yóu dà hé yē lù sā lěng de jū mín 。

In the reign of Ahasuerus, in the beginning of his reign, they wrote an accusation against the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem.

亞達薛西年間，比施蘭、米特利達、他別，和他們的同黨上本奏告波斯王亞達薛西。本章是用亞蘭文字，亞蘭方言。

yà dá xuē xī nián jiān ， bǐ shī lán 、 mǐ tè lì dá 、 tā bié ， hé tā men de tóng dǎng shàng běn zòu gào bō sī wáng yà dá xuē xī 。 běn zhāng shì yòng yà lán wén zì ， yà lán fāng yán 。

In the days of Artaxerxes, Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel, and the rest of his companions wrote to Artaxerxes king of Persia; and the writing of the letter was written in Syrian and delivered in the Syrian language.

省長利宏、書記伸帥要控告耶路撒冷人，也上本奏告亞達薛西王。

shěng zhǎng lì hóng 、 shū jì shēn shuài yào kòng gào yē lù sā lěng rén ， yě shàng běn zòu gào yà dá xuē xī wáng 。

Rehum the chancellor and Shimshai the scribe wrote a letter against Jerusalem to Artaxerxes the king as follows.

省長利宏、書記伸帥，和同黨的底拿人、亞法薩提迦人、他毗拉人、亞法撒人、亞基衛人、巴比倫人、書珊迦人、底亥人、以攔人，

shěng zhǎng lì hóng 、 shū jì shēn shuài ， hé tóng dǎng de dǐ ná rén 、 yà fǎ sà tí jiā rén 、 tā pí lā rén 、 yà fǎ sā rén 、 yà jī wèi rén 、 bā bǐ lún rén 、 shū shān jiā rén 、 dǐ hài rén 、 yǐ lán rén ，

Then Rehum the chancellor, Shimshai the scribe, and the rest of their companions, the Dinaites, and the Apharsathchites, the Tarpelites, the Apharsites, the Archevites, the Babylonians, the Shushanchites, the Dehaites, the Elamites,

和尊大的亞斯那巴所遷移、安置在撒馬利亞城，並大河西一帶地方的人等，

hé zūn dà de yà sī nà bā suǒ qiān yí 、 ān zhì zài sā mǎ lì yà chéng ， bìng dà hé xī yí dài dì fāng de rén děng ，

and the rest of the nations whom the great and noble Osnappar brought over and settled in the city of Samaria, and in the rest of the country beyond the River, and so forth, wrote.

上奏亞達薛西王說：「河西的臣民云云：

shàng zòu yà dá xuē xī wáng shuō ：「 hé xī de chén mín yún yún ：

This is the copy of the letter that they sent: To King Artaxerxes, from your servants, the people beyond the River.

王該知道，從王那裏上到我們這裏的猶大人，已經到耶路撒冷重建這反叛惡劣的城，築立根基，建造城牆。

wáng gāi zhī dào ， cóng wáng nà lǐ shàng dào wǒ men zhè lǐ de yóu dà rén ， yǐ jīng dào yē lù sā lěng chóng jiàn zhè fǎn pàn è liè de chéng ， zhù lì gēn jī ， jiàn zào chéng qiáng 。

Be it known to the king that the Jews who came up from you have come to us to Jerusalem. They are building the rebellious and bad city, and have finished the walls and repaired the foundations.

如今王該知道，他們若建造這城，城牆完畢就不再與王進貢，交課，納稅，終久王必受虧損。

rú jīn wáng gāi zhī dào ， tā men ruò jiàn zào zhè chéng ， chéng qiáng wán bì jiù bú zài yǔ wáng jìn gòng ， jiāo kè ， nà shuì ， zhōng jiǔ wáng bì shòu kuī sǔn 。

Be it known now to the king that if this city is built and the walls finished, they will not pay tribute, custom, or toll, and in the end it will be hurtful to the kings.

我們既食御鹽，不忍見王吃虧，因此奏告於王。

wǒ men jì shí yù yán ， bù rěn jiàn wáng chī kuī ， yīn cǐ zòu gào yú wáng 。

Now because we eat the salt of the palace and it is not appropriate for us to see the king’s dishonor, therefore we have sent and informed the king,

請王考察先王的實錄，必在其上查知這城是反叛的城，與列王和各省有害；自古以來，其中常有悖逆的事，因此這城曾被拆毀。

qǐng wáng kǎo chá xiān wáng de shí lù ， bì zài qí shàng chá zhī zhè chéng shì fǎn pàn de chéng ， yǔ liè wáng hé gè shěng yǒu hài ； zì gǔ yǐ lái ， qí zhōng cháng yǒu bèi nì de shì ， yīn cǐ zhè chéng céng bèi chāi huǐ 。

that search may be made in the book of the records of your fathers. You will see in the book of the records, and know that this city is a rebellious city, and hurtful to kings and provinces, and that they have started rebellions within it in the past. That is why this city was destroyed.

我們謹奏王知，這城若再建造，城牆完畢，河西之地王就無分了。」

wǒ men jǐn zòu wáng zhī ， zhè chéng ruò zài jiàn zào ， chéng qiáng wán bì ， hé xī zhī dì wáng jiù wú fēn le 。」

We inform the king that if this city is built and the walls finished, then you will have no possession beyond the River.

那時王諭覆省長利宏、書記伸帥，和他們的同黨，就是住撒馬利亞並河西一帶地方的人，說：「願你們平安云云。

nà shí wáng yù fù shěng zhǎng lì hóng 、 shū jì shēn shuài ， hé tā men de tóng dǎng ， jiù shì zhù sā mǎ lì yà bìng hé xī yí dài dì fāng de rén ， shuō ：「 yuàn nǐ men píng ān yún yún 。

Then the king sent an answer to Rehum the chancellor, and to Shimshai the scribe, and to the rest of their companions who live in Samaria, and in the rest of the country beyond the River: Peace.

你們所上的本，已經明讀在我面前。

nǐ men suǒ shàng de běn ， yǐ jīng míng dú zài wǒ miàn qián 。

The letter which you sent to us has been plainly read before me.

我已命人考查，得知此城古來果然背叛列王，其中常有反叛悖逆的事。

wǒ yǐ mìng rén kǎo chá ， dé zhī cǐ chéng gǔ lái guǒ rán bèi pàn liè wáng ， qí zhōng cháng yǒu fǎn pàn bèi nì de shì 。

I decreed, and search has been made, and it was found that this city has made insurrection against kings in the past, and that rebellion and revolts have been made in it.

從前耶路撒冷也有大君王統管河西全地，人就給他們進貢，交課，納稅。

cóng qián yē lù sā lěng yě yǒu dà jūn wáng tǒng guǎn hé xī quán dì ， rén jiù gěi tā men jìn gòng ， jiāo kè ， nà shuì 。

There have also been mighty kings over Jerusalem who have ruled over all the country beyond the River; and tribute, custom, and toll was paid to them.

現在你們要出告示命這些人停工，使這城不得建造，等我降旨。

xiàn zài nǐ men yào chū gào shì mìng zhè xiē rén tíng gōng ， shǐ zhè chéng bù dé jiàn zào ， děng wǒ jiàng zhǐ 。

Make a decree now to cause these men to cease, and that this city not be built until a decree is made by me.

你們當謹慎，不可遲延，為何容害加重，使王受虧損呢？」

nǐ men dāng jǐn shèn ， bù kě chí yán ， wèi hé róng hài jiā zhòng ， shǐ wáng shòu kuī sǔn ne ？」

Be careful that you not be slack doing so. Why should damage grow to the hurt of the kings?

亞達薛西王的上諭讀在利宏和書記伸帥，並他們的同黨面前，他們就急忙往耶路撒冷去見猶大人，用勢力強迫他們停工。

yà dá xuē xī wáng de shàng yù dú zài lì hóng hé shū jì shēn shuài ， bìng tā men de tóng dǎng miàn qián ， tā men jiù jí máng wǎng yē lù sā lěng qù jiàn yóu dà rén ， yòng shì lì qiǎng pò tā men tíng gōng 。

Then when the copy of King Artaxerxes’ letter was read before Rehum, Shimshai the scribe, and their companions, they went in haste to Jerusalem to the Jews, and made them to cease by force of arms.

於是，在耶路撒冷上帝殿的工程就停止了，直停到波斯王大流士第二年。

yú shì ， zài yē lù sā lěng shén diàn de gōng chéng jiù tíng zhǐ le ， zhí tíng dào bō sī wáng dà liú shì dì èr nián 。

Then work stopped on God’s house which is at Jerusalem. It stopped until the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.
