創世記 32

雅各仍舊行路，上帝的使者遇見他。

yǎ gè réng jiù xíng lù ， shén de shǐ zhě yù jiàn tā 。

Jacob went on his way, and the angels of God met him.

雅各看見他們就說：「這是上帝的軍兵」，於是給那地方起名叫瑪哈念 。

yǎ gè kàn jiàn tā men jiù shuō ：「 zhè shì shén de jūn bīng 」， yú shì gěi nà dì fāng qǐ míng jiào mǎ hā niàn 。

When he saw them, Jacob said, “This is God’s army.” He called the name of that place Mahanaim.

雅各打發人先往西珥地去，就是以東地，見他哥哥以掃，

yǎ gè dǎ fā rén xiān wǎng xī ěr dì qù ， jiù shì yǐ dōng dì ， jiàn tā gē ge yǐ sǎo ，

Jacob sent messengers in front of him to Esau, his brother, to the land of Seir, the field of Edom.

吩咐他們說：「你們對我主以掃說：『你的僕人雅各這樣說：我在拉班那裏寄居，直到如今。

fēn fù tā men shuō ：「 nǐ men duì wǒ zhǔ yǐ sǎo shuō ：『 nǐ de pú rén yǎ gè zhè yàng shuō ： wǒ zài lā bān nà lǐ jì jū ， zhí dào rú jīn 。

He commanded them, saying, “This is what you shall tell my lord, Esau: ‘This is what your servant, Jacob, says. I have lived as a foreigner with Laban, and stayed until now.

我有牛、驢、羊群、僕婢，現在打發人來報告我主，為要在你眼前蒙恩。』」

wǒ yǒu niú 、 lǘ 、 yáng qún 、 pú bì ， xiàn zài dǎ fā rén lái bào gào wǒ zhǔ ， wèi yào zài nǐ yǎn qián méng ēn 。』」

I have cattle, donkeys, flocks, male servants, and female servants. I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find favor in your sight.’”

所打發的人回到雅各那裏，說：「我們到了你哥哥以掃那裏，他帶着四百人，正迎着你來。」

suǒ dǎ fā de rén huí dào yǎ gè nà lǐ ， shuō ：「 wǒ men dào le nǐ gē ge yǐ sǎo nà lǐ ， tā dài zhe sì bǎi rén ， zhèng yíng zhe nǐ lái 。」

The messengers returned to Jacob, saying, “We came to your brother Esau. He is coming to meet you, and four hundred men are with him.”

雅各就甚懼怕，而且愁煩，便把那與他同在的人口和羊群、牛群、駱駝分做兩隊，

yǎ gè jiù shèn jù pà ， ér qiě chóu fán ， biàn bǎ nà yǔ tā tóng zài de rén kǒu hé yáng qún 、 niú qún 、 luò tuó fēn zuò liǎng duì ，

Then Jacob was greatly afraid and was distressed. He divided the people who were with him, along with the flocks, the herds, and the camels, into two companies.

說：「以掃若來擊殺這一隊，剩下的那一隊還可以逃避。」

shuō ：「 yǐ sǎo ruò lái jī shā zhè yí duì ， shèng xià de nà yí duì hái kě yǐ táo bì 。」

He said, “If Esau comes to the one company, and strikes it, then the company which is left will escape.”

雅各說：「耶和華－我祖亞伯拉罕的上帝，我父親以撒的上帝啊，你曾對我說：『回你本地本族去，我要厚待你。』

yǎ gè shuō ：「 yē hé huá — wǒ zǔ yà bó lā hǎn de shén ， wǒ fù qīn yǐ sā de shén a ， nǐ céng duì wǒ shuō ：『 huí nǐ běn dì běn zú qù ， wǒ yào hòu dài nǐ 。』

Jacob said, “God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, the LORD, who said to me, ‘Return to your country, and to your relatives, and I will do you good,’

你向僕人所施的一切慈愛和誠實，我一點也不配得；我先前只拿着我的杖過這約旦河，如今我卻成了兩隊了。

nǐ xiàng pú rén suǒ shī de yí qiè cí ài hé chéng shí ， wǒ yì diǎn yě bú pèi dé ； wǒ xiān qián zhī ná zhe wǒ de zhàng guò zhè yuē dàn hé ， rú jīn wǒ què chéng le liǎng duì le 。

I am not worthy of the least of all the loving kindnesses, and of all the truth, which you have shown to your servant; for with just my staff I crossed over this Jordan; and now I have become two companies.

求你救我脫離我哥哥以掃的手；因為我怕他來殺我，連妻子帶兒女一同殺了。

qiú nǐ jiù wǒ tuō lí wǒ gē ge yǐ sǎo de shǒu ； yīn wèi wǒ pà tā lái shā wǒ ， lián qī zǐ dài ér nǚ yì tóng shā le 。

Please deliver me from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau; for I fear him, lest he come and strike me and the mothers with the children.

你曾說：『我必定厚待你，使你的後裔如同海邊的沙，多得不可勝數。』」

nǐ céng shuō ：『 wǒ bì dìng hòu dài nǐ ， shǐ nǐ de hòu yì rú tóng hǎi biān de shā ， duō dé bù kě shèng shǔ 。』」

You said, ‘I will surely do you good, and make your offspring as the sand of the sea, which can’t be counted because there are so many.’”

當夜，雅各在那裏住宿，就從他所有的物中拿禮物要送給他哥哥以掃：

dāng yè ， yǎ gè zài nà lǐ zhù sù ， jiù cóng tā suǒ yǒu de wù zhōng ná lǐ wù yào sòng gěi tā gē ge yǐ sǎo ：

He stayed there that night, and took from that which he had with him a present for Esau, his brother:

母山羊二百隻，公山羊二十隻，母綿羊二百隻，公綿羊二十隻，

mǔ shān yáng èr bǎi zhī ， gōng shān yáng èr shí zhī ， mǔ mián yáng èr bǎi zhī ， gōng mián yáng èr shí zhī ，

two hundred female goats and twenty male goats, two hundred ewes and twenty rams,

奶崽子的駱駝三十隻－各帶着崽子，母牛四十隻，公牛十隻，母驢二十匹，驢駒十匹；

nǎi zǎi zǐ de luò tuó sān shí zhī — gè dài zhe zǎi zǐ ， mǔ niú sì shí zhī ， gōng niú shí zhī ， mǔ lǘ èr shí pǐ ， lǘ jū shí pǐ ；

thirty milk camels and their colts, forty cows, ten bulls, twenty female donkeys and ten foals.

每樣各分一群，交在僕人手下，就對僕人說：「你們要在我前頭過去，使群群相離，有空閒的地方」；

měi yàng gè fēn yì qún ， jiāo zài pú rén shǒu xià ， jiù duì pú rén shuō ：「 nǐ men yào zài wǒ qián tou guò qù ， shǐ qún qún xiāng lí ， yǒu kòng xián de dì fāng 」；

He delivered them into the hands of his servants, every herd by itself, and said to his servants, “Pass over before me, and put a space between herd and herd.”

又吩咐儘先走的說：「我哥哥以掃遇見你的時候，問你說：『你是哪家的人？要往哪裏去？你前頭這些是誰的？』

yòu fēn fù jìn xiān zǒu de shuō ：「 wǒ gē ge yǐ sǎo yù jiàn nǐ de shí hòu ， wèn nǐ shuō ：『 nǐ shì nǎ jiā de rén ？ yào wǎng nǎ lǐ qù ？ nǐ qián tou zhè xiē shì shuí de ？』

He commanded the foremost, saying, “When Esau, my brother, meets you, and asks you, saying, ‘Whose are you? Where are you going? Whose are these before you?’

你就說：『是你僕人雅各的，是送給我主以掃的禮物；他自己也在我們後邊。』」

nǐ jiù shuō ：『 shì nǐ pú rén yǎ gè de ， shì sòng gěi wǒ zhǔ yǐ sǎo de lǐ wù ； tā zì jǐ yě zài wǒ men hòu biān 。』」

Then you shall say, ‘They are your servant, Jacob’s. It is a present sent to my lord, Esau. Behold, he also is behind us.’”

又吩咐第二、第三，和一切趕群畜的人說：「你們遇見以掃的時候也要這樣對他說；

yòu fēn fù dì èr 、 dì sān ， hé yí qiè gǎn qún chù de rén shuō ：「 nǐ men yù jiàn yǐ sǎo de shí hòu yě yào zhè yàng duì tā shuō ；

He commanded also the second, and the third, and all that followed the herds, saying, “This is how you shall speak to Esau, when you find him.

並且你們要說：『你僕人雅各在我們後邊。』」因雅各心裏說：「我藉着在我前頭去的禮物解他的恨，然後再見他的面，或者他容納我。」

bìng qiě nǐ men yào shuō ：『 nǐ pú rén yǎ gè zài wǒ men hòu biān 。』」 yīn yǎ gè xīn lǐ shuō ：「 wǒ jiè zhe zài wǒ qián tou qù de lǐ wù jiě tā de hèn ， rán hòu zài jiàn tā de miàn ， huò zhě tā róng nà wǒ 。」

You shall say, ‘Not only that, but behold, your servant, Jacob, is behind us.’” For, he said, “I will appease him with the present that goes before me, and afterward I will see his face. Perhaps he will accept me.”

於是禮物先過去了；那夜，雅各在隊中住宿。

yú shì lǐ wù xiān guò qù le ； nà yè ， yǎ gè zài duì zhōng zhù sù 。

So the present passed over before him, and he himself stayed that night in the camp.

他夜間起來，帶着兩個妻子，兩個使女，並十一個兒子，都過了雅博渡口，

tā yè jiān qǐ lái ， dài zhe liǎng gè qī zǐ ， liǎng gè shǐ nǚ ， bìng shí yī gè ér zi ， dōu guò le yǎ bó dù kǒu ，

He rose up that night, and took his two wives, and his two servants, and his eleven sons, and crossed over the ford of the Jabbok.

先打發他們過河，又打發所有的都過去，

xiān dǎ fā tā men guò hé ， yòu dǎ fā suǒ yǒu de dōu guò qù ，

He took them, and sent them over the stream, and sent over that which he had.

只剩下雅各一人。有一個人來和他摔跤，直到黎明。

zhī shèng xià yǎ gè yì rén 。 yǒu yí gè rén lái hé tā shuāi jiāo ， zhí dào lí míng 。

Jacob was left alone, and wrestled with a man there until the breaking of the day.

那人見自己勝不過他，就將他的大腿窩摸了一把，雅各的大腿窩正在摔跤的時候就扭了。

nà rén jiàn zì jǐ shèng bú guò tā ， jiù jiāng tā de dà tuǐ wō mō le yì bǎ ， yǎ gè de dà tuǐ wō zhèng zài shuāi jiāo de shí hòu jiù niǔ le 。

When he saw that he didn’t prevail against him, the man touched the hollow of his thigh, and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was strained as he wrestled.

那人說：「天黎明了，容我去吧！」雅各說：「你不給我祝福，我就不容你去。」

nà rén shuō ：「 tiān lí míng le ， róng wǒ qù ba ！」 yǎ gè shuō ：「 nǐ bù gěi wǒ zhù fú ， wǒ jiù bù róng nǐ qù 。」

The man said, “Let me go, for the day breaks.” Jacob said, “I won’t let you go unless you bless me.”

那人說：「你名叫甚麼？」他說：「我名叫雅各。」

nà rén shuō ：「 nǐ míng jiào shén me ？」 tā shuō ：「 wǒ míng jiào yǎ gè 。」

He said to him, “What is your name?” He said, “Jacob”.

那人說：「你的名不要再叫雅各，要叫以色列；因為你與上帝與人較力，都得了勝。」

nà rén shuō ：「 nǐ de míng bú yào zài jiào yǎ gè ， yào jiào yǐ sè liè ； yīn wèi nǐ yǔ shén yǔ rén jiào lì ， dōu dé le shèng 。」

He said, “Your name will no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have fought with God and with men, and have prevailed.”

雅各問他說：「請將你的名告訴我。」那人說：「何必問我的名？」於是在那裏給雅各祝福。

yǎ gè wèn tā shuō ：「 qǐng jiāng nǐ de míng gào sù wǒ 。」 nà rén shuō ：「 hé bì wèn wǒ de míng ？」 yú shì zài nà lǐ gěi yǎ gè zhù fú 。

Jacob asked him, “Please tell me your name.” He said, “Why is it that you ask what my name is?” So he blessed him there.

雅各便給那地方起名叫毗努伊勒 ，意思說：「我面對面見了上帝，我的性命仍得保全。」

yǎ gè biàn gěi nà dì fāng qǐ míng jiào pí nǔ yī lè ， yì sī shuō ：「 wǒ miàn duì miàn jiàn le shén ， wǒ de xìng mìng réng dé bǎo quán 。」

Jacob called the name of the place Peniel; for he said, “I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.”

日頭剛出來的時候，雅各經過毗努伊勒，他的大腿就瘸了。

rì tóu gāng chū lái de shí hòu ， yǎ gè jīng guò pí nǔ yī lè ， tā de dà tuǐ jiù qué le 。

The sun rose on him as he passed over Peniel, and he limped because of his thigh.

故此，以色列人不吃大腿窩的筋，直到今日，因為那人摸了雅各大腿窩的筋。

gù cǐ ， yǐ sè liè rén bù chī dà tuǐ wō de jīn ， zhí dào jīn rì ， yīn wèi nà rén mō le yǎ gè dà tuǐ wō de jīn 。

Therefore the children of Israel don’t eat the sinew of the hip, which is on the hollow of the thigh, to this day, because he touched the hollow of Jacob’s thigh in the sinew of the hip.
