wéi yuàn wǒ de jǐng kuàng rú cóng qián de yuè fèn , rú shén bǎo shǒu wǒ de rì zi 。
“Oh that I were as in the months of old, as in the days when God watched over me;
nà shí tā de dēng zhào zài wǒ tóu shàng ; wǒ jiè tā de guāng xíng guò hēi àn 。
when his lamp shone on my head, and by his light I walked through darkness,
我願如壯年的時候: 那時我在帳棚中, 上帝待我有密友之情;
wǒ yuàn rú zhuàng nián de shí hòu : nà shí wǒ zài zhàng péng zhōng , shén dài wǒ yǒu mì yǒu zhī qíng ;
as I was in my prime, when the friendship of God was in my tent,
quán néng zhě réng yǔ wǒ tóng zài ; wǒ de ér nǚ dōu huán rào wǒ 。
when the Almighty was yet with me, and my children were around me,
nǎi duō kě xǐ wǒ de jiǎo ; pán shí wèi wǒ chū yóu chéng hé 。
when my steps were washed with butter, and the rock poured out streams of oil for me,
我出到城門, 在街上設立座位;
wǒ chū dào chéng mén , zài jiē shàng shè lì zuò wèi ;
when I went out to the city gate, when I prepared my seat in the street.
少年人見我而迴避, 老年人也起身站立;
shào nián rén jiàn wǒ ér huí bì , lǎo nián rén yě qǐ shēn zhàn lì ;
The young men saw me and hid themselves. The aged rose up and stood.
王子都停止說話, 用手摀口;
wáng zǐ dōu tíng zhǐ shuō huà , yòng shǒu wǔ kǒu ;
The princes refrained from talking, and laid their hand on their mouth.
shǒu lǐng jìng mò wú shēng , shé tou tiē zhù shàng táng 。
The voice of the nobles was hushed, and their tongue stuck to the roof of their mouth.
耳朵聽我的,就稱我有福; 眼睛看我的,便稱讚我;
ěr duo tīng wǒ de , jiù chēng wǒ yǒu fú ; yǎn jīng kàn wǒ de , biàn chēng zàn wǒ ;
For when the ear heard me, then it blessed me, and when the eye saw me, it commended me,
yīn wǒ zhěng jiù āi qiú de kùn kǔ rén hé wú rén bāng zhù de gū ér 。
because I delivered the poor who cried, and the fatherless also, who had no one to help him,
jiāng yào miè wáng de wèi wǒ zhù fú ; wǒ yě shǐ guǎ fù xīn zhōng huān lè 。
the blessing of him who was ready to perish came on me, and I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy.
wǒ yǐ gōng yì wèi yī fu , yǐ gōng píng wèi wài páo hé guān miǎn 。
I put on righteousness, and it clothed me. My justice was as a robe and a diadem.
wǒ wèi xiā zǐ de yǎn , qué zǐ de jiǎo 。
I was eyes to the blind, and feet to the lame.
wǒ wèi qióng fá rén de fù ; sù bú rèn shi de rén , wǒ chá míng tā de àn jiàn 。
I was a father to the needy. I researched the cause of him whom I didn’t know.
wǒ dǎ pò bú yì zhī rén de yá chuáng , cóng tā yá chǐ zhōng duó le suǒ qiǎng de 。
I broke the jaws of the unrighteous and plucked the prey out of his teeth.
wǒ biàn shuō : wǒ bì sǐ zài jiā zhōng , bì zēng tiān wǒ de rì zi , duō rú chén shā 。
Then I said, ‘I will die in my own house, I will count my days as the sand.
wǒ de gēn cháng dào shuǐ biān ; lù shuǐ zhōng yè zhān zài wǒ de zhī shàng 。
My root is spread out to the waters. The dew lies all night on my branch.
wǒ de róng yào zài shēn shàng zēng xīn ; wǒ de gōng zài shǒu zhōng rì qiáng 。
My glory is fresh in me. My bow is renewed in my hand.’
rén tīng jiàn wǒ ér yǎng wàng , jìng mò děng hòu wǒ de zhǐ jiào 。
“Men listened to me, waited, and kept silence for my counsel.
wǒ shuō huà zhī hòu , tā men jiù bú zài shuō ; wǒ de yán yǔ xiàng yǔ lù dī zài tā men shēn shàng 。
After my words they didn’t speak again. My speech fell on them.
tā men yǎng wàng wǒ rú yǎng wàng yǔ , yòu zhāng kāi kǒu rú qiè mù chūn yǔ 。
They waited for me as for the rain. Their mouths drank as with the spring rain.
tā men bù gǎn zì xìn , wǒ jiù xiàng tā men hán xiào ; tā men bù shǐ wǒ liǎn shàng de guāng gǎi biàn 。
I smiled on them when they had no confidence. They didn’t reject the light of my face.
wǒ wèi tā men xuǎn zé dào lù , yòu zuò shǒu wèi ; wǒ rú jūn wáng zài jūn duì zhōng jū zhù , yòu rú diào sāng de ān wèi shāng xīn de rén 。
I chose out their way, and sat as chief. I lived as a king in the army, as one who comforts the mourners.
