凱撒提庇留在位第十五年，本丟‧彼拉多作猶太巡撫，希律作加利利分封的王，他兄弟腓力作以土利亞和特拉可尼地方分封的王，呂撒聶作亞比利尼分封的王，

kǎi sā tí bì liú zài wèi dì shí wǔ nián ， běn diū · bǐ lā duō zuò yóu tài xún fǔ ， xī lǜ zuò jiā lì lì fēn fēng de wáng ， tā xiōng dì féi lì zuò yǐ tǔ lì yà hé tè lā kě ní dì fāng fēn fēng de wáng ， lǚ sā niè zuò yà bǐ lì ní fēn fēng de wáng ，

Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene,

亞那和該亞法作大祭司。那時，撒迦利亞的兒子約翰在曠野裏，上帝的話臨到他。

yà nà hé gāi yà fǎ zuò dà jì sī 。 nà shí ， sā jiā lì yà de ér zi yuē hàn zài kuàng yě lǐ ， shén de huà lín dào tā 。

during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John, the son of Zacharias, in the wilderness.

他就來到約旦河一帶地方，宣講悔改的洗禮，使罪得赦。

tā jiù lái dào yuē dàn hé yí dài dì fāng ， xuān jiǎng huǐ gǎi de xǐ lǐ ， shǐ zuì dé shè 。

He came into all the region around the Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for remission of sins.

正如先知以賽亞書上所記的話，說： 在曠野有人聲喊着說： 預備主的道， 修直他的路！

zhèng rú xiān zhī yǐ sài yà shū shàng suǒ jì de huà ， shuō ： zài kuàng yě yǒu rén shēng hǎn zhe shuō ： yù bèi zhǔ de dào ， xiū zhí tā de lù ！

As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness, ‘Make ready the way of the Lord. Make his paths straight.

一切山窪都要填滿； 大小山岡都要削平！ 彎彎曲曲的地方要改為正直； 高高低低的道路要改為平坦！

yí qiè shān wā dōu yào tián mǎn ； dà xiǎo shān gāng dōu yào xuē píng ！ wān wān qū qǔ de dì fāng yào gǎi wéi zhèng zhí ； gāo gāo dī dī de dào lù yào gǎi wéi píng tǎn ！

Every valley will be filled. Every mountain and hill will be brought low. The crooked will become straight, and the rough ways smooth.

凡有血氣的，都要見上帝的救恩！

fán yǒu xuè qì de ， dōu yào jiàn shén de jiù ēn ！

All flesh will see God’s salvation.’”

約翰對那出來要受他洗的眾人說：「毒蛇的種類！誰指示你們逃避將來的忿怒呢？

yuē hàn duì nà chū lái yào shòu tā xǐ de zhòng rén shuō ：「 dú shé de zhǒng lèi ！ shuí zhǐ shì nǐ men táo bì jiāng lái de fèn nù ne ？

He said therefore to the multitudes who went out to be baptized by him, “You offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

你們要結出果子來，與悔改的心相稱。不要自己心裏說：『有亞伯拉罕為我們的祖宗。』我告訴你們，上帝能從這些石頭中，給亞伯拉罕興起子孫來。

nǐ men yào jié chū guǒ zǐ lái ， yǔ huǐ gǎi de xīn xiāng chèn 。 bú yào zì jǐ xīn lǐ shuō ：『 yǒu yà bó lā hǎn wèi wǒ men de zǔ zōng 。』 wǒ gào sù nǐ men ， shén néng cóng zhè xiē shí tou zhōng ， gěi yà bó lā hǎn xīng qǐ zǐ sūn lái 。

Therefore produce fruits worthy of repentance, and don’t begin to say among yourselves, ‘We have Abraham for our father;’ for I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones!

現在斧子已經放在樹根上，凡不結好果子的樹就砍下來，丟在火裏。」

xiàn zài fǔ zǐ yǐ jīng fàng zài shù gēn shàng ， fán bù jié hǎo guǒ zǐ de shù jiù kǎn xià lái ， diū zài huǒ lǐ 。」

Even now the ax also lies at the root of the trees. Every tree therefore that doesn’t produce good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.”

眾人問他說：「這樣，我們當做甚麼呢？」

zhòng rén wèn tā shuō ：「 zhè yàng ， wǒ men dàng zuò shén me ne ？」

The multitudes asked him, “What then must we do?”

約翰回答說：「有兩件衣裳的，就分給那沒有的；有食物的，也當這樣行。」

yuē hàn huí dá shuō ：「 yǒu liǎng jiàn yī shang de ， jiù fēn gěi nà méi yǒu de ； yǒu shí wù de ， yě dāng zhè yàng xíng 。」

He answered them, “He who has two coats, let him give to him who has none. He who has food, let him do likewise.”

又有稅吏來要受洗，問他說：「夫子，我們當做甚麼呢？」

yòu yǒu shuì lì lái yào shòu xǐ ， wèn tā shuō ：「 fū zǐ ， wǒ men dàng zuò shén me ne ？」

Tax collectors also came to be baptized, and they said to him, “Teacher, what must we do?”

約翰說：「除了例定的數目，不要多取。」

yuē hàn shuō ：「 chú le lì dìng de shù mù ， bú yào duō qǔ 。」

He said to them, “Collect no more than that which is appointed to you.”

又有兵丁問他說：「我們當做甚麼呢？」約翰說：「不要以強暴待人，也不要訛詐人，自己有錢糧就當知足。」

yòu yǒu bīng dīng wèn tā shuō ：「 wǒ men dàng zuò shén me ne ？」 yuē hàn shuō ：「 bú yào yǐ qiáng bào dài rén ， yě bú yào é zhà rén ， zì jǐ yǒu qián liáng jiù dāng zhī zú 。」

Soldiers also asked him, saying, “What about us? What must we do?” He said to them, “Extort from no one by violence, neither accuse anyone wrongfully. Be content with your wages.”

百姓指望基督來的時候，人都心裏猜疑，或者約翰是基督。

bǎi xìng zhǐ wàng jī dū lái de shí hòu ， rén dōu xīn lǐ cāi yí ， huò zhě yuē hàn shì jī dū 。

As the people were in expectation, and all men reasoned in their hearts concerning John, whether perhaps he was the Christ,

約翰說：「我是用水給你們施洗，但有一位能力比我更大的要來，我就是給他解鞋帶也不配。他要用聖靈與火給你們施洗。

yuē hàn shuō ：「 wǒ shì yòng shuǐ gěi nǐ men shī xǐ ， dàn yǒu yí wèi néng lì bǐ wǒ gèng dà de yào lái ， wǒ jiù shì gěi tā jiě xié dài yě bú pèi 。 tā yào yòng shèng líng yǔ huǒ gěi nǐ men shī xǐ 。

John answered them all, “I indeed baptize you with water, but he comes who is mightier than I, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to loosen. He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and fire.

他手裏拿着簸箕，要揚淨他的場，把麥子收在倉裏，把糠用不滅的火燒盡了。」

tā shǒu lǐ ná zhe bò ji ， yào yáng jìng tā de chǎng ， bǎ mài zi shōu zài cāng lǐ ， bǎ kāng yòng bú miè de huǒ shāo jìn le 。」

His winnowing fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing floor, and will gather the wheat into his barn; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”

約翰又用許多別的話勸百姓，向他們傳福音。

yuē hàn yòu yòng xǔ duō bié de huà quàn bǎi xìng ， xiàng tā men chuán fú yīn 。

Then with many other exhortations he preached good news to the people,

只是分封的王希律，因他兄弟之妻希羅底的緣故，並因他所行的一切惡事，受了約翰的責備；

zhǐ shì fēn fēng de wáng xī lǜ ， yīn tā xiōng dì zhī qī xī luó dǐ de yuán gù ， bìng yīn tā suǒ xíng de yí qiè è shì ， shòu le yuē hàn de zé bèi ；

but Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias, his brother’s wife, and for all the evil things which Herod had done,

又另外添了一件，就是把約翰收在監裏。

yòu lìng wài tiān le yí jiàn ， jiù shì bǎ yuē hàn shōu zài jiān lǐ 。

added this also to them all, that he shut up John in prison.

眾百姓都受了洗，耶穌也受了洗。正禱告的時候，天就開了，

zhòng bǎi xìng dōu shòu le xǐ ， yē sū yě shòu le xǐ 。 zhèng dǎo gào de shí hòu ， tiān jiù kāi le ，

Now when all the people were baptized, Jesus also had been baptized and was praying. The sky was opened,

聖靈降臨在他身上，形狀彷彿鴿子；又有聲音從天上來，說：「你是我的愛子，我喜悅你。」

shèng líng jiàng lín zài tā shēn shàng ， xíng zhuàng fǎng fú gē zi ； yòu yǒu shēng yīn cóng tiān shàng lái ， shuō ：「 nǐ shì wǒ de ài zǐ ， wǒ xǐ yuè nǐ 。」

and the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily form like a dove on him; and a voice came out of the sky, saying “You are my beloved Son. In you I am well pleased.”

耶穌開頭傳道，年紀約有三十歲。依人看來，他是約瑟的兒子；約瑟是希里的兒子；

yē sū kāi tóu chuán dào ， nián jì yuē yǒu sān shí suì 。 yī rén kàn lái ， tā shì yuē sè de ér zi ； yuē sè shì xī lǐ de ér zi ；

Jesus himself, when he began to teach, was about thirty years old, being the son (as was supposed) of Joseph, the son of Heli,

希里是瑪塔的兒子；瑪塔是利未的兒子；利未是麥基的兒子；麥基是雅拿的兒子；雅拿是約瑟的兒子；

xī lǐ shì mǎ tǎ de ér zi ； mǎ tǎ shì lì wèi de ér zǐ ； lì wèi shì mài jī de ér zi ； mài jī shì yǎ ná de ér zi ； yǎ ná shì yuē sè de ér zi ；

the son of Matthat, the son of Levi, the son of Melchi, the son of Jannai, the son of Joseph,

約瑟是瑪他提亞的兒子；瑪他提亞是亞摩斯的兒子；亞摩斯是拿鴻的兒子；拿鴻是以斯利的兒子；以斯利是拿該的兒子；

yuē sè shì mǎ tā tí yà de ér zi ； mǎ tā tí yà shì yà mó sī de ér zi ； yà mó sī shì ná hóng de ér zi ； ná hóng shì yǐ sī lì de ér zi ； yǐ sī lì shì ná gāi de ér zi ；

the son of Mattathias, the son of Amos, the son of Nahum, the son of Esli, the son of Naggai,

拿該是瑪押的兒子；瑪押是瑪他提亞的兒子；瑪他提亞是西美的兒子；西美是約瑟的兒子；約瑟是猶大的兒子；猶大是約亞拿的兒子；

約亞拿是利撒的兒子；利撒是所羅巴伯的兒子；所羅巴伯是撒拉鐵的兒子；撒拉鐵是尼利的兒子；尼利是麥基的兒子；

麥基是亞底的兒子；亞底是哥桑的兒子；哥桑是以摩當的兒子；以摩當是珥的兒子；珥是約細的兒子；

mài jī shì yà dǐ de ér zi ； yà dǐ shì gē sāng de ér zǐ ； gē sāng shì yǐ mó dāng de ér zi ； yǐ mó dāng shì ěr de ér zi ； ěr shì yuē xì de ér zi ；

約細是以利以謝的兒子；以利以謝是約令的兒子；約令是瑪塔的兒子；瑪塔是利未的兒子；
