Acts 19
yà bō luó zài gē lín duō de shí hòu , bǎo luó jīng guò le shàng biān yí dài dì fāng , jiù lái dào yǐ fú suǒ ; zài nà lǐ yù jiàn jǐ gè mén tú ,
While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul, having passed through the upper country, came to Ephesus and found certain disciples.
wèn tā men shuō :「 nǐ men xìn de shí hòu shòu le shèng líng méi yǒu ?」 tā men huí dá shuō :「 méi yǒu , yě wèi céng tīng jiàn yǒu shèng líng cì xià lái 。」
He said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” They said to him, “No, we haven’t even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”
bǎo luó shuō :「 zhè yàng , nǐ men shòu de shì shén me xǐ ne ?」 tā men shuō :「 shì yuē hàn de xǐ 。」
He said, “Into what then were you baptized?” They said, “Into John’s baptism.”
bǎo luó shuō :「 yuē hàn suǒ xíng de shì huǐ gǎi de xǐ , gào sù bǎi xìng dāng xìn nà zài tā yǐ hòu yào lái de , jiù shì yē sū 。」
Paul said, “John indeed baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe in the one who would come after him, that is, in Christ Jesus.”
tā men tīng jiàn zhè huà , jiù fèng zhǔ yē sū de míng shòu xǐ 。
When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
bǎo luó àn shǒu zài tā men tóu shàng , shèng líng biàn jiàng zài tā men shēn shàng , tā men jiù shuō fāng yán , yòu shuō yù yán 。
When Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them and they spoke with other languages and prophesied.
bǎo luó jìn huì táng , fàng dǎn jiǎng dào , yì lián sān gè yuè , biàn lùn shén guó de shì , quàn huà zhòng rén 。
He entered into the synagogue and spoke boldly for a period of three months, reasoning and persuading about the things concerning God’s Kingdom.
hòu lái , yǒu xiē rén xīn lǐ gāng yìng bú xìn , zài zhòng rén miàn qián huǐ bàng zhè dào , bǎo luó jiù lí kāi tā men , yě jiào mén tú yǔ tā men fēn lí , biàn zài tuī lā nú de xué fáng tiān tiān biàn lùn 。
But when some were hardened and disobedient, speaking evil of the Way before the multitude, he departed from them and separated the disciples, reasoning daily in the school of Tyrannus.
zhè yàng yǒu liǎng nián zhī jiǔ , jiào yí qiè zhù zài yà xì yà de , wú lùn shì yóu tài rén , shì xī là rén , dōu tīng jiàn zhǔ de dào 。
This continued for two years, so that all those who lived in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.
神借保罗的手行了些非常的奇事;
shén jiè bǎo luó de shǒu xíng le xiē fēi cháng de qí shì ;
God worked special miracles by the hands of Paul,
shèn zhì yǒu rén cóng bǎo luó shēn shàng ná shǒu jīn huò wéi qún fàng zài bìng rén shēn shàng , bìng jiù tuì le , è guǐ yě chū qù le 。
so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were carried away from his body to the sick, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out.
nà shí , yǒu jǐ gè yóu xíng gè chù 、 niàn zhòu gǎn guǐ de yóu tài rén , xiàng nà bèi è guǐ fù de rén shàn zì chēng zhǔ yē sū de míng , shuō :「 wǒ fèng bǎo luó suǒ chuán de yē sū chì lìng nǐ men chū lái !」
But some of the itinerant Jews, exorcists, took on themselves to invoke over those who had the evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, “We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preaches.”
zuò zhè shì de , yǒu yóu tài jì sī zhǎng shì jī wǎ de qī gè ér zi 。
There were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did this.
è guǐ huí dá tā men shuō :「 yē sū wǒ rèn shi , bǎo luó wǒ yě zhī dào 。 nǐ men què shì shuí ne ?」
The evil spirit answered, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know, but who are you?”
è guǐ suǒ fù de rén jiù tiào zài tā men shēn shàng , shèng le qí zhōng èr rén , zhì fú tā men , jiào tā men chì zhe shēn zi shòu le shāng , cóng nà fáng zi lǐ táo chū qù le 。
The man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, overpowered them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
fán zhù zài yǐ fú suǒ de , wú lùn shì yóu tài rén , shì xī là rén , dōu zhī dào zhè shì , yě dōu jù pà ; zhǔ yē sū de míng cóng cǐ jiù zūn dà le 。
This became known to all, both Jews and Greeks, who lived at Ephesus. Fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.
nà yǐ jīng xìn de , duō yǒu rén lái chéng rèn sù shuō zì jǐ suǒ xíng de shì 。
Many also of those who had believed came, confessing and declaring their deeds.
píng sù xíng xié shù de , yě yǒu xǔ duō rén bǎ shū ná lái , duī jī zài zhòng rén miàn qián fén shāo 。 tā men suàn jì shū jià , biàn zhī dào gòng hé wǔ wàn kuài qián 。
Many of those who practiced magical arts brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. They counted their price, and found it to be fifty thousand pieces of silver.
zhǔ de dào dà dà xīng wàng , ér qiě dé shèng , jiù shì zhè yàng 。
So the word of the Lord was growing and becoming mighty.
zhè xiē shì wán le , bǎo luó xīn lǐ dìng yì jīng guò le mǎ qí dùn 、 yà gāi yà , jiù wǎng yē lù sā lěng qù ; yòu shuō :「 wǒ dào le nà lǐ yǐ hòu , yě bì xū wǎng luó mǎ qù kàn kàn 。」
Now after these things had ended, Paul determined in the Spirit, when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, “After I have been there, I must also see Rome.”
yú shì cóng bāng zhù tā de rén zhōng dǎ fā tí mó tài 、 yǐ lā dōu èr rén wǎng mǎ qí dùn qù , zì jǐ zàn shí děng zài yà xì yà 。
Having sent into Macedonia two of those who served him, Timothy and Erastus, he himself stayed in Asia for a while.
nà shí , yīn wèi zhè dào qǐ de rǎo luàn bù xiǎo 。
About that time there arose no small disturbance concerning the Way.
yǒu yí gè yín jiàng , míng jiào dǐ mǐ diū , shì zhì zào yà dǐ mǐ shén yín kān de , tā shǐ zhè yàng shǒu yì rén shēng yì fā dá 。
For a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith who made silver shrines of Artemis, brought no little business to the craftsmen,
tā jù jí tā men hé tóng háng de gōng rén , shuō :「 zhòng wèi , nǐ men zhī dào wǒ men shì yǐ kào zhè shēng yì fā cái 。
whom he gathered together with the workmen of like occupation, and said, “Sirs, you know that by this business we have our wealth.
zhè bǎo luó bú dàn zài yǐ fú suǒ , yě jī hū zài yà xì yà quán dì , yǐn yòu mí huò xǔ duō rén , shuō :『 rén shǒu suǒ zuò de , bú shì shén 。』 zhè shì nǐ men suǒ kàn jiàn suǒ tīng jiàn de 。
You see and hear that not at Ephesus alone, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul has persuaded and turned away many people, saying that they are no gods that are made with hands.
zhè yàng , bù dú wǒ men zhè shì yè bèi rén miǎo shì , jiù shì dà nǚ shén yà dǐ mǐ de miào yě yào bèi rén qīng hū , lián yà xì yà quán dì hé pǔ tiān xià suǒ jìng bài de dà nǚ shén zhī wēi róng yě yào xiāo miè le 。」
Not only is there danger that this our trade come into disrepute, but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis will be counted as nothing and her majesty destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worships.”
zhòng rén tīng jiàn , jiù nù qì tián xiōng , hǎn zhe shuō :「 dà zāi , yǐ fú suǒ rén de yà dǐ mǐ a !」
When they heard this they were filled with anger, and cried out, saying, “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!”
mǎn chéng dōu hōng dòng qǐ lái 。 zhòng rén ná zhù yǔ bǎo luó tóng háng de mǎ qí dùn rén gāi yóu hé yà lǐ dá gǔ , qí xīn yōng jìn xì yuán lǐ qù 。
The whole city was filled with confusion, and they rushed with one accord into the theater, having seized Gaius and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, Paul’s companions in travel.
bǎo luó xiǎng yào jìn qù , dào bǎi xìng nà lǐ , mén tú què bù xǔ tā qù 。
When Paul wanted to enter in to the people, the disciples didn’t allow him.
hái yǒu yà xì yà jǐ wèi shǒu lǐng , shì bǎo luó de péng yǒu , dǎ fā rén lái quàn tā , bú yào mào xiǎn dào xì yuán lǐ qù 。
Certain also of the Asiarchs, being his friends, sent to him and begged him not to venture into the theater.
jù jí de rén fēn fēn luàn luàn , yǒu hǎn jiào zhè ge de , yǒu hǎn jiào nà ge de ; dà bàn bù zhī dào shì wèi shén me jù jí 。
Some therefore cried one thing, and some another, for the assembly was in confusion. Most of them didn’t know why they had come together.
有人把亚历山大从众人中带出来,犹太人推他往前,亚历山大就摆手,要向百姓分诉;
yǒu rén bǎ yà lì shān dà cóng zhòng rén zhōng dài chū lái , yóu tài rén tuī tā wǎng qián , yà lì shān dà jiù bǎi shǒu , yào xiàng bǎi xìng fēn sù ;
They brought Alexander out of the multitude, the Jews putting him forward. Alexander beckoned with his hand, and would have made a defense to the people.
zhī yīn tā men rèn chū tā shì yóu tài rén , jiù dà jiā tóng shēng hǎn zhe shuō :「 dà zāi ! yǐ fú suǒ rén de yà dǐ mǐ a 。」 rú cǐ yuē yǒu liǎng xiǎo shí 。
But when they perceived that he was a Jew, all with one voice for a time of about two hours cried out, “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!”
nà chéng lǐ de shū jì ān fǔ le zhòng rén , jiù shuō :「 yǐ fú suǒ rén nǎ , shuí bù zhī dào yǐ fú suǒ rén de chéng shì kān shǒu dà yà dǐ mǐ de miào hé cóng zhòu sī nà lǐ luò xià lái de xiàng ne ?
When the town clerk had quieted the multitude, he said, “You men of Ephesus, what man is there who doesn’t know that the city of the Ephesians is temple keeper of the great goddess Artemis, and of the image which fell down from Zeus?
zhè shì jì shì bó bù dǎo de , nǐ men jiù dāng ān jìng , bù kě zào cì 。
Seeing then that these things can’t be denied, you ought to be quiet and to do nothing rash.
nǐ men bǎ zhè xiē rén dài lái , tā men bìng méi yǒu tōu qiè miào zhōng zhī wù , yě méi yǒu bàng wǒ men de nǚ shén 。
For you have brought these men here, who are neither robbers of temples nor blasphemers of your goddess.
ruò shì dǐ mǐ diū hé tā tóng háng de rén yǒu kòng gào rén de shì , zì yǒu fàng gào de rì zi , yě yǒu fāng bó kě yǐ bǐ cǐ duì gào 。
If therefore Demetrius and the craftsmen who are with him have a matter against anyone, the courts are open and there are proconsuls. Let them press charges against one another.
nǐ men ruò wèn bié de shì , jiù kě yǐ zhào cháng lì jù jí duàn dìng 。
But if you seek anything about other matters, it will be settled in the regular assembly.
jīn rì de rǎo luàn běn shì wú yuán wú gù , wǒ men nán miǎn bèi chá wèn 。 lùn dào zhè yàng jù zhòng , wǒ men yě shuō bù chū suǒ yǐ rán lái 。」
For indeed we are in danger of being accused concerning today’s riot, there being no cause. Concerning it, we wouldn’t be able to give an account of this commotion.”
shuō le zhè huà , biàn jiào zhòng rén sàn qù 。
When he had thus spoken, he dismissed the assembly.
