shén duì yǎ gè shuō :「 qǐ lái ! shàng bó tè lì qù , zhù zài nà lǐ ; yào zài nà lǐ zhù yí zuò tán gěi shén , jiù shì nǐ táo bì nǐ gē ge yǐ sǎo de shí hòu xiàng nǐ xiǎn xiàn de nà wèi 。」

God said to Jacob, “Arise, go up to Bethel, and live there. Make there an altar to God, who appeared to you when you fled from the face of Esau your brother.”

:「

yǎ gè jiù duì tā jiā zhōng de rén bìng yí qiè yǔ tā tóng zài de rén shuō :「 nǐ men yào chú diào nǐ men zhōng jiān de wài bāng shén , yě yào zì jié , gēng huàn yī shang 。

Then Jacob said to his household, and to all who were with him, “Put away the foreign gods that are among you, purify yourselves, and change your garments.

。」

wǒ men yào qǐ lái , shàng bó tè lì qù , zài nà lǐ wǒ yào zhù yí zuò tán gěi shén , jiù shì zài wǒ zāo nán de rì zi yīng yǔn wǒ de dǎo gào 、 zài wǒ xíng de lù shang bǎo yòu wǒ de nà wèi 。」

Let’s arise, and go up to Bethel. I will make there an altar to God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me on the way which I went.”

tā men jiù bǎ wài bāng rén de shén xiàng hé tā men ěr duǒ shàng de huán zǐ jiāo gěi yǎ gè ; yǎ gè dōu cáng zài shì jiàn nà lǐ de xiàng shù dǐ xià 。

They gave to Jacob all the foreign gods which were in their hands, and the rings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem.

便使

tā men biàn qǐ xíng qián wǎng 。 shén shǐ nà zhōu wéi chéng yì de rén dōu shèn jīng jù , jiù bù zhuī gǎn yǎ gè de zhòng zǐ le 。

They traveled, and a terror of God was on the cities that were around them, and they didn’t pursue the sons of Jacob.

yú shì yǎ gè hé yí qiè yǔ tā tóng zài de rén dào le jiā nán dì de lù sī , jiù shì bó tè lì 。

So Jacob came to Luz (that is, Bethel), which is in the land of Canaan, he and all the people who were with him.

tā zài nà lǐ zhù le yí zuò tán , jiù gěi nà dì fāng qǐ míng jiào yī lè · bó tè lì ; yīn wèi tā táo bì tā gē ge de shí hòu , shén zài nà lǐ xiàng tā xiǎn xiàn 。

He built an altar there, and called the place El Beth El; because there God was revealed to him, when he fled from the face of his brother.

lì bǎi jiā de nǎi mǔ dǐ bō lā sǐ le , jiù zàng zài bó tè lì xià biān xiàng shù dǐ xià ; nà kē shù míng jiào yà lún · bā gǔ 。

Deborah, Rebekah’s nurse, died, and she was buried below Bethel under the oak; and its name was called Allon Bacuth.

yǎ gè cóng bā dàn · yà lán huí lái , shén yòu xiàng tā xiǎn xiàn , cì fú yǔ tā ,

God appeared to Jacob again, when he came from Paddan Aram, and blessed him.

qiě duì tā shuō :「 nǐ de míng yuán shì yǎ gè , cóng jīn yǐ hòu bú yào zài jiào yǎ gè , yào jiào yǐ sè liè 。」 zhè yàng , tā jiù gǎi míng jiào yǐ sè liè 。

God said to him, “Your name is Jacob. Your name shall not be Jacob any more, but your name will be Israel.” He named him Israel.

:「

shén yòu duì tā shuō :「 wǒ shì quán néng de shén ; nǐ yào shēng yǎng zhòng duō , jiāng lái yǒu yì zú hé duō guó de mín cóng nǐ ér shēng , yòu yǒu jūn wáng cóng nǐ ér chū 。

God said to him, “I am God Almighty. Be fruitful and multiply. A nation and a company of nations will be from you, and kings will come out of your body.

。」

wǒ suǒ cì gěi yà bó lā hǎn hé yǐ sā de dì , wǒ yào cì gěi nǐ yǔ nǐ de hòu yì 。」

The land which I gave to Abraham and Isaac, I will give it to you, and to your offspring after you I will give the land.”

shén jiù cóng nà yǔ yǎ gè shuō huà de dì fāng shēng shàng qù le 。

God went up from him in the place where he spoke with him.

便

yǎ gè biàn zài nà lǐ lì le yì gēn shí zhù , zài zhù zi shàng diàn jiǔ , jiāo yóu 。

Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he spoke with him, a pillar of stone. He poured out a drink offering on it, and poured oil on it.

yǎ gè jiù gěi nà dì fāng qǐ míng jiào bó tè lì 。

Jacob called the name of the place where God spoke with him “Bethel”.

tā men cóng bó tè lì qǐ xíng , lí yǐ fǎ tā hái yǒu yí duàn lù chéng , lā jié lín chǎn shèn shì jiān nán 。

They traveled from Bethel. There was still some distance to come to Ephrath, and Rachel travailed. She had hard labor.

zhèng zài jiān nán de shí hòu , shōu shēng pó duì tā shuō :「 bú yào pà , nǐ yòu yào dé yí gè ér zi le 。」

When she was in hard labor, the midwife said to her, “Don’t be afraid, for now you will have another son.”

便·便

tā jiāng jìn yú sǐ , líng hún yào zǒu de shí hòu , jiù gěi tā ér zi qǐ míng jiào biàn · é ní ; tā fù qīn què gěi tā qǐ míng jiào biàn yǎ mǐn 。

As her soul was departing (for she died), she named him Benoni, but his father named him Benjamin.

lā jié sǐ le , zàng zài yǐ fǎ tā de lù páng ; yǐ fǎ tā jiù shì bó lì héng 。

Rachel died, and was buried on the way to Ephrath (also called Bethlehem).

yǎ gè zài tā de fén shàng lì le yì tǒng bēi , jiù shì lā jié de mù bēi , dào jīn rì hái zài 。

Jacob set up a pillar on her grave. The same is the Pillar of Rachel’s grave to this day.

yǐ sè liè qǐ xíng qián wǎng , zài yǐ dé tái nà biān zhī dā zhàng péng 。

Israel traveled, and spread his tent beyond the tower of Eder.

便

yǐ sè liè zhù zài nà dì de shí hòu , lǚ biàn qù yǔ tā fù qīn de qiè pì lā tóng qǐn , yǐ sè liè yě tīng jiàn le 。 yǎ gè gòng yǒu shí èr gè ér zi 。

While Israel lived in that land, Reuben went and lay with Bilhah, his father’s concubine, and Israel heard of it. Now the sons of Jacob were twelve.

便西西

lì yà suǒ shēng de shì yǎ gè de zhǎng zǐ lǚ biàn , hái yǒu xī miǎn 、 lì wèi 、 yóu dà 、 yǐ sà jiā 、 xī bù lún 。

The sons of Leah: Reuben (Jacob’s firstborn), Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun.

便

lā jié suǒ shēng de shì yuē sè 、 biàn yǎ mǐn 。

The sons of Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin.

使

lā jié de shǐ nǚ pì lā suǒ shēng de shì dàn 、 ná fú tā lì 。

The sons of Bilhah (Rachel’s servant): Dan and Naphtali.

使·

lì yà de shǐ nǚ xī pà suǒ shēng de shì jiā dé 、 yà shè 。 zhè shì yǎ gè zài bā dàn · yà lán suǒ shēng de ér zi 。

The sons of Zilpah (Leah’s servant): Gad and Asher. These are the sons of Jacob, who were born to him in Paddan Aram.

yǎ gè lái dào tā fù qīn yǐ sā nà lǐ , dào le jī liè · yà bā de màn lì , nǎi shì yà bó lā hǎn hé yǐ sā jì jū de dì fāng ; jī liè · yà bā jiù shì xī bó 。

Jacob came to Isaac his father, to Mamre, to Kiriath Arba (which is Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac lived as foreigners.

yǐ sā gòng huó le yì bǎi bā shí suì 。

The days of Isaac were one hundred eighty years.

yǐ sā nián jì lǎo mài , rì zi mǎn zú , qì jué ér sǐ , guī dào tā liè zǔ nà lǐ 。 tā liǎng gè ér zi yǐ sǎo 、 yǎ gè bǎ tā mái zàng le 。

Isaac gave up the spirit and died, and was gathered to his people, old and full of days. Esau and Jacob, his sons, buried him.
