Proverbs 13
智慧子听父亲的教训; 亵慢人不听责备。
zhì huì zǐ tīng fù qīn de jiào xùn ; xiè màn rén bù tīng zé bèi 。
A wise son listens to his father’s instruction, but a scoffer doesn’t listen to rebuke.
人因口所结的果子,必享美福; 奸诈人必遭强暴。
rén yīn kǒu suǒ jié de guǒ zǐ , bì xiǎng měi fú ; jiān zhà rén bì zāo qiáng bào 。
By the fruit of his lips, a man enjoys good things, but the unfaithful crave violence.
谨守口的,得保生命; 大张嘴的,必致败亡。
jǐn shǒu kǒu de , dé bǎo shēng mìng ; dà zhāng zuǐ de , bì zhì bài wáng 。
He who guards his mouth guards his soul. One who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.
懒惰人羡慕,却无所得; 殷勤人必得丰裕。
lǎn duò rén xiàn mù , què wú suǒ dé ; yīn qín rén bì dé fēng yù 。
The soul of the sluggard desires, and has nothing, but the desire of the diligent shall be fully satisfied.
义人恨恶谎言; 恶人有臭名,且致惭愧。
yì rén hèn è huǎng yán ; è rén yǒu chòu míng , qiě zhì cán kuì 。
A righteous man hates lies, but a wicked man brings shame and disgrace.
行为正直的,有公义保守; 犯罪的,被邪恶倾覆。
xíng wéi zhèng zhí de , yǒu gōng yì bǎo shǒu ; fàn zuì de , bèi xié è qīng fù 。
Righteousness guards the way of integrity, but wickedness overthrows the sinner.
假作富足的,却一无所有; 装作穷乏的,却广有财物。
jiǎ zuò fù zú de , què yì wú suǒ yǒu ; zhuāng zuò qióng fá de , què guǎng yǒu cái wù 。
There are some who pretend to be rich, yet have nothing. There are some who pretend to be poor, yet have great wealth.
人的资财是他生命的赎价; 穷乏人却听不见威吓的话。
rén de zī cái shì tā shēng mìng de shú jià ; qióng fá rén què tīng bú jiàn wēi hè de huà 。
The ransom of a man’s life is his riches, but the poor hear no threats.
义人的光明亮 ; 恶人的灯要熄灭。
yì rén de guāng míng liàng ; è rén de dēng yào xī miè 。
The light of the righteous shines brightly, but the lamp of the wicked is snuffed out.
骄傲只启争竞; 听劝言的,却有智慧。
jiāo ào zhī qǐ zhēng jìng ; tīng quàn yán de , què yǒu zhì huì 。
Pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is with people who take advice.
不劳而得之财必然消耗; 勤劳积蓄的,必见加增。
bù láo ér dé zhī cái bì rán xiāo hào ; qín láo jī xù de , bì jiàn jiā zēng 。
Wealth gained dishonestly dwindles away, but he who gathers by hand makes it grow.
所盼望的迟延未得,令人心忧; 所愿意的临到,却是生命树。
suǒ pàn wàng de chí yán wèi dé , lìng rén xīn yōu ; suǒ yuàn yì de lín dào , què shì shēng mìng shù 。
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when longing is fulfilled, it is a tree of life.
藐视训言的,自取灭亡; 敬畏诫命的,必得善报。
miǎo shì xùn yán de , zì qǔ miè wáng ; jìng wèi jiè mìng de , bì dé shàn bào 。
Whoever despises instruction will pay for it, but he who respects a command will be rewarded.
智慧人的法则 是生命的泉源, 可以使人离开死亡的网罗。
zhì huì rén de fǎ zé shì shēng mìng de quán yuán , kě yǐ shǐ rén lí kāi sǐ wáng de wǎng luó 。
The teaching of the wise is a spring of life, to turn from the snares of death.
美好的聪明使人蒙恩; 奸诈人的道路崎岖难行。
měi hǎo de cōng ming shǐ rén méng ēn ; jiān zhà rén de dào lù qí qū nán xíng 。
Good understanding wins favor, but the way of the unfaithful is hard.
凡通达人都凭知识行事; 愚昧人张扬自己的愚昧。
fán tōng dá rén dōu píng zhī shi xíng shì ; yú mèi rén zhāng yáng zì jǐ de yú mèi 。
Every prudent man acts from knowledge, but a fool exposes folly.
奸恶的使者必陷在祸患里; 忠信的使臣乃医人的良药。
jiān è de shǐ zhě bì xiàn zài huò huàn lǐ ; zhōng xìn de shǐ chén nǎi yī rén de liáng yào 。
A wicked messenger falls into trouble, but a trustworthy envoy gains healing.
弃绝管教的,必致贫受辱; 领受责备的,必得尊荣。
qì jué guǎn jiào de , bì zhì pín shòu rǔ ; lǐng shòu zé bèi de , bì dé zūn róng 。
Poverty and shame come to him who refuses discipline, but he who heeds correction shall be honored.
所欲的成就,心觉甘甜; 远离恶事,为愚昧人所憎恶。
suǒ yù de chéng jiù , xīn jué gān tián ; yuǎn lí è shì , wèi yú mèi rén suǒ zēng wù 。
Longing fulfilled is sweet to the soul, but fools detest turning from evil.
与智慧人同行的,必得智慧; 和愚昧人作伴的,必受亏损。
yǔ zhì huì rén tóng háng de , bì dé zhì huì ; hé yú mèi rén zuò bàn de , bì shòu kuī sǔn 。
One who walks with wise men grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.
祸患追赶罪人; 义人必得善报。
huò huàn zhuī gǎn zuì rén ; yì rén bì dé shàn bào 。
Misfortune pursues sinners, but prosperity rewards the righteous.
善人给子孙遗留产业; 罪人为义人积存资财。
shàn rén gěi zǐ sūn yí liú chǎn yè ; zuì rén wéi yì rén jī cún zī cái 。
A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, but the wealth of the sinner is stored for the righteous.
穷人耕种多得粮食, 但因不义,有消灭的。
qióng rén gēng zhòng duō dé liáng shí , dàn yīn bú yì , yǒu xiāo miè de 。
An abundance of food is in poor people’s fields, but injustice sweeps it away.
不忍用杖打儿子的,是恨恶他; 疼爱儿子的,随时管教。
bù rěn yòng zhàng dǎ ér zi de , shì hèn è tā ; téng ài ér zi de , suí shí guǎn jiào 。
One who spares the rod hates his son, but one who loves him is careful to discipline him.
义人吃得饱足; 恶人肚腹缺粮。
yì rén chī dé bǎo zú ; è rén dù fù quē liáng 。
The righteous one eats to the satisfying of his soul, but the belly of the wicked goes hungry.
