此後，亞捫人的王拿轄死了，他兒子接續他作王。

cǐ hòu ， yà mén rén de wáng ná xiá sǐ le ， tā ér zi jiē xù tā zuò wáng 。

After this, Nahash the king of the children of Ammon died, and his son reigned in his place.

大衛說：「我要照哈嫩的父親拿轄厚待我的恩典厚待哈嫩。」於是大衛差遣使者為他喪父安慰他。大衛的臣僕到了亞捫人的境內見哈嫩，要安慰他，

dà wèi shuō ：「 wǒ yào zhào hā nèn de fù qīn ná xiá hòu dài wǒ de ēn diǎn hòu dài hā nèn 。」 yú shì dà wèi chāi qiǎn shǐ zhě wèi tā sàng fù ān wèi tā 。 dà wèi de chén pú dào le yà mén rén de jìng nèi jiàn hā nèn ， yào ān wèi tā ，

David said, “I will show kindness to Hanun the son of Nahash, because his father showed kindness to me.” So David sent messengers to comfort him concerning his father. David’s servants came into the land of the children of Ammon to Hanun to comfort him.

但亞捫人的首領對哈嫩說：「大衛差人來安慰你，你想他是尊敬你父親嗎？他的臣僕來見你不是為詳察窺探、傾覆這地嗎？」

dàn yà mén rén de shǒu lǐng duì hā nèn shuō ：「 dà wèi chà rén lái ān wèi nǐ ， nǐ xiǎng tā shì zūn jìng nǐ fù qīn ma ？ tā de chén pú lái jiàn nǐ bú shì wèi xiáng chá kuī tàn 、 qīng fù zhè dì ma ？」

But the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun, “Do you think that David honors your father, in that he has sent comforters to you? Haven’t his servants come to you to search, to overthrow, and to spy out the land?”

哈嫩便將大衛臣僕的鬍鬚剃去一半，又割斷他們下半截的衣服，使他們露出下體，打發他們回去。

hā nèn biàn jiāng dà wèi chén pú de hú xū tì qù yí bàn ， yòu gē duàn tā men xià bàn jié de yī fu ， shǐ tā men lù chū xià tǐ ， dǎ fā tā men huí qù 。

So Hanun took David’s servants, shaved them, and cut off their garments in the middle at their buttocks, and sent them away.

有人將臣僕所遇的事告訴大衛，他就差人去迎接他們，因為他們甚覺羞恥；告訴他們說：「可以住在耶利哥，等到鬍鬚長起再回來。」

yǒu rén jiāng chén pú suǒ yù de shì gào sù dà wèi ， tā jiù chà rén qù yíng jiē tā men ， yīn wèi tā men shèn jué xiū chǐ ； gào sù tā men shuō ：「 kě yǐ zhù zài yē lì gē ， děng dào hú xū cháng qǐ zài huí lái 。」

Then some people went and told David how the men were treated. He sent to meet them; for the men were greatly humiliated. The king said, “Stay at Jericho until your beards have grown, and then return.”

亞捫人知道大衛憎惡他們，哈嫩和亞捫人就打發人拿一千他連得銀子，從美索不達米亞、亞蘭、瑪迦、瑣巴雇戰車和馬兵，

yà mén rén zhī dào dà wèi zēng wù tā men ， hā nèn hé yà mén rén jiù dǎ fā rén ná yì qiān tā lián dé yín zǐ ， cóng měi suǒ bù dá mǐ yà 、 yà lán 、 mǎ jiā 、 suǒ bā gù zhàn chē hé mǎ bīng ，

When the children of Ammon saw that they had made themselves odious to David, Hanun and the children of Ammon sent one thousand talents of silver to hire chariots and horsemen out of Mesopotamia, out of Aram-maacah, and out of Zobah.

於是雇了三萬二千輛戰車和瑪迦王並他的軍兵；他們來安營在米底巴前。亞捫人也從他們的城裏出來，聚集交戰。

yú shì gù le sān wàn èr qiān liàng zhàn chē hé mǎ jiā wáng bìng tā de jūn bīng ； tā men lái ān yíng zài mǐ dǐ bā qián 。 yà mén rén yě cóng tā men de chéng lǐ chū lái ， jù jí jiāo zhàn 。

So they hired for themselves thirty-two thousand chariots, and the king of Maacah with his people, who came and encamped near Medeba. The children of Ammon gathered themselves together from their cities, and came to battle.

大衛聽見了，就差派約押統帶勇猛的全軍出去。

dà wèi tīng jiàn le ， jiù chà pài yuē yā tǒng dài yǒng měng de quán jūn chū qù 。

When David heard of it, he sent Joab with all the army of the mighty men.

亞捫人出來在城門前擺陣，所來的諸王另在郊野擺陣。

yà mén rén chū lái zài chéng mén qián bǎi zhèn ， suǒ lái de zhū wáng lìng zài jiāo yě bǎi zhèn 。

The children of Ammon came out, and put the battle in array at the gate of the city; and the kings who had come were by themselves in the field.

約押看見敵人在他前後擺陣，就從以色列軍中挑選精兵，使他們對着亞蘭人擺陣；

yuē yā kàn jiàn dí rén zài tā qián hòu bǎi zhèn ， jiù cóng yǐ sè liè jūn zhōng tiāo xuǎn jīng bīng ， shǐ tā men duì zhe yà lán rén bǎi zhèn ；

Now when Joab saw that the battle was set against him before and behind, he chose some of all the choice men of Israel, and put them in array against the Syrians.

其餘的兵交與他兄弟亞比篩，對着亞捫人擺陣。

qí yú de bīng jiāo yǔ tā xiōng dì yà bǐ shāi ， duì zhe yà mén rén bǎi zhèn 。

The rest of the people he committed into the hand of Abishai his brother; and they put themselves in array against the children of Ammon.

約押對亞比篩說：「亞蘭人若強過我，你就來幫助我；亞捫人若強過你，我就去幫助你。

yuē yā duì yà bǐ shāi shuō ：「 yà lán rén ruò qiáng guò wǒ ， nǐ jiù lái bāng zhù wǒ ； yà mén rén ruò qiáng guò nǐ ， wǒ jiù qù bāng zhù nǐ 。

He said, “If the Syrians are too strong for me, then you are to help me; but if the children of Ammon are too strong for you, then I will help you.

我們都當剛強，為本國的民和上帝的城邑作大丈夫，願耶和華憑他的意旨而行。」

wǒ men dōu dāng gāng qiáng ， wèi běn guó de mín hé shén de chéng yì zuò dà zhàng fu ， yuàn yē hé huá píng tā de yì zhǐ ér xíng 。」

Be courageous, and let’s be strong for our people and for the cities of our God. May the LORD do that which seems good to him.”

於是約押和跟隨他的人前進攻打亞蘭人；亞蘭人在約押面前逃跑。

yú shì yuē yā hé gēn suí tā de rén qián jìn gōng dǎ yà lán rén ； yà lán rén zài yuē yā miàn qián táo pǎo 。

So Joab and the people who were with him came near to the front of the Syrians to the battle; and they fled before him.

亞捫人見亞蘭人逃跑，他們也在約押的兄弟亞比篩面前逃跑進城。約押就回耶路撒冷去了。

yà mén rén jiàn yà lán rén táo pǎo ， tā men yě zài yuē yā de xiōng dì yà bǐ shāi miàn qián táo pǎo jìn chéng 。 yuē yā jiù huí yē lù sā lěng qù le 。

When the children of Ammon saw that the Syrians had fled, they likewise fled before Abishai his brother, and entered into the city. Then Joab came to Jerusalem.

亞蘭人見自己被以色列人打敗，就打發使者將大河那邊的亞蘭人調來，哈大利謝的將軍朔法率領他們。

yà lán rén jiàn zì jǐ bèi yǐ sè liè rén dǎ bài ， jiù dǎ fā shǐ zhě jiāng dà hé nà biān de yà lán rén tiáo lái ， hā dà lì xiè de jiāng jūn shuò fǎ shuài lǐng tā men 。

When the Syrians saw that they were defeated by Israel, they sent messengers and called out the Syrians who were beyond the River, with Shophach the captain of the army of Hadadezer leading them.

有人告訴大衛，他就聚集以色列眾人過約旦河，來到亞蘭人那裏，迎着他們擺陣。大衛既擺陣攻擊亞蘭人，亞蘭人就與他打仗。

yǒu rén gào sù dà wèi ， tā jiù jù jí yǐ sè liè zhòng rén guò yuē dàn hé ， lái dào yà lán rén nà lǐ ， yíng zhe tā men bǎi zhèn 。 dà wèi jì bǎi zhèn gōng jī yà lán rén ， yà lán rén jiù yǔ tā dǎ zhàng 。

David was told that, so he gathered all Israel together, passed over the Jordan, came to them, and set the battle in array against them. So when David had put the battle in array against the Syrians, they fought with him.

亞蘭人在以色列人面前逃跑。大衛殺了亞蘭七千輛戰車的人，四萬步兵，又殺了亞蘭的將軍朔法。

yà lán rén zài yǐ sè liè rén miàn qián táo pǎo 。 dà wèi shā le yà lán qī qiān liàng zhàn chē de rén ， sì wàn bù bīng ， yòu shā le yà lán de jiāng jūn shuò fǎ 。

The Syrians fled before Israel; and David killed of the Syrian men seven thousand charioteers and forty thousand footmen, and also killed Shophach the captain of the army.

屬哈大利謝的諸王見自己被以色列人打敗，就與大衛和好，歸服他。於是亞蘭人不敢再幫助亞捫人了。

shǔ hā dà lì xiè de zhū wáng jiàn zì jǐ bèi yǐ sè liè rén dǎ bài ， jiù yǔ dà wèi hé hǎo ， guī fú tā 。 yú shì yà lán rén bù gǎn zài bāng zhù yà mén rén le 。

When the servants of Hadadezer saw that they were defeated by Israel, they made peace with David and served him. The Syrians would not help the children of Ammon any more.
