約伯記 14

人為婦人所生， 日子短少，多有患難；

rén wéi fù rén suǒ shēng ， rì zi duǎn shǎo ， duō yǒu huàn nàn ；

“Man, who is born of a woman, is of few days, and full of trouble.

出來如花，又被割下， 飛去如影，不能存留。

chū lái rú huā ， yòu bèi gē xià ， fēi qù rú yǐng ， bù néng cún liú 。

He grows up like a flower, and is cut down. He also flees like a shadow, and doesn’t continue.

這樣的人你豈睜眼看他嗎？ 又叫我來受審嗎？

zhè yàng de rén nǐ qǐ zhēng yǎn kàn tā ma ？ yòu jiào wǒ lái shòu shěn ma ？

Do you open your eyes on such a one, and bring me into judgment with you?

誰能使潔淨之物出於污穢之中呢？ 無論誰也不能！

shuí néng shǐ jié jìng zhī wù chū yú wū huì zhī zhōng ne ？ wú lùn shuí yě bù néng ！

Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? Not one.

人的日子既然限定， 他的月數在你那裏， 你也派定他的界限，使他不能越過，

rén de rì zi jì rán xiàn dìng ， tā de yuè shù zài nǐ nà lǐ ， nǐ yě pài dìng tā de jiè xiàn ， shǐ tā bù néng yuè guò ，

Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months is with you, and you have appointed his bounds that he can’t pass.

便求你轉眼不看他，使他得歇息， 直等他像雇工人完畢他的日子。

biàn qiú nǐ zhuǎn yǎn bú kàn tā ， shǐ tā dé xiē xī ， zhí děng tā xiàng gù gōng rén wán bì tā de rì zi 。

Look away from him, that he may rest, until he accomplishes, as a hireling, his day.

樹若被砍下， 還可指望發芽， 嫩枝生長不息；

shù ruò bèi kǎn xià ， hái kě zhǐ wàng fā yá ， nèn zhī shēng zhǎng bù xī ；

“For there is hope for a tree if it is cut down, that it will sprout again, that the tender branch of it will not cease.

其根雖然衰老在地裏， 幹也死在土中，

qí gēn suī rán shuāi lǎo zài dì lǐ ， gān yě sǐ zài tǔ zhōng ，

Though its root grows old in the earth, and its stock dies in the ground,

及至得了水氣，還要發芽， 又長枝條，像新栽的樹一樣。

jí zhì dé le shuǐ qì ， hái yào fā yá ， yòu cháng zhī tiáo ， xiàng xīn zāi de shù yí yàng 。

yet through the scent of water it will bud, and sprout boughs like a plant.

但人死亡而消滅； 他氣絕，竟在何處呢？

dàn rén sǐ wáng ér xiāo miè ； tā qì jué ， jìng zài hé chù ne ？

But man dies, and is laid low. Yes, man gives up the spirit, and where is he?

海中的水絕盡， 江河消散乾涸。

hǎi zhōng de shuǐ jué jìn ， jiāng hé xiāo sàn gān hé 。

As the waters fail from the sea, and the river wastes and dries up,

人也是如此，躺下不再起來， 等到天沒有了，仍不得復醒， 也不得從睡中喚醒。

rén yě shì rú cǐ ， tǎng xià bú zài qǐ lái ， děng dào tiān méi yǒu le ， réng bù dé fù xǐng ， yě bù dé cóng shuì zhōng huàn xǐng 。

so man lies down and doesn’t rise. Until the heavens are no more, they will not awake, nor be roused out of their sleep.

惟願你把我藏在陰間， 存於隱密處，等你的忿怒過去； 願你為我定了日期，記念我。

wéi yuàn nǐ bǎ wǒ cáng zài yīn jiān ， cún yú yǐn mì chù ， děng nǐ de fèn nù guò qù ； yuàn nǐ wèi wǒ dìng le rì qī ， jì niàn wǒ 。

“Oh that you would hide me in Sheol, that you would keep me secret until your wrath is past, that you would appoint me a set time and remember me!

人若死了豈能再活呢？ 我只要在我一切爭戰的日子， 等我被釋放 的時候來到。

rén ruò sǐ le qǐ néng zài huó ne ？ wǒ zhǐ yào zài wǒ yí qiè zhēng zhàn de rì zi ， děng wǒ bèi shì fàng de shí hòu lái dào 。

If a man dies, will he live again? I would wait all the days of my warfare, until my release should come.

你呼叫，我便回答； 你手所做的，你必羨慕。

nǐ hū jiào ， wǒ biàn huí dá ； nǐ shǒu suǒ zuò de ， nǐ bì xiàn mù 。

You would call, and I would answer you. You would have a desire for the work of your hands.

但如今你數點我的腳步， 豈不窺察我的罪過嗎？

dàn rú jīn nǐ shù diǎn wǒ de jiǎo bù ， qǐ bù kuī chá wǒ de zuì guo ma ？

But now you count my steps. Don’t you watch over my sin?

我的過犯被你封在囊中， 也縫嚴了我的罪孽。

wǒ de guò fàn bèi nǐ fēng zài náng zhōng ， yě fèng yán le wǒ de zuì niè 。

My disobedience is sealed up in a bag. You fasten up my iniquity.

山崩變為無有； 磐石挪開原處。

shān bēng biàn wèi wú yǒu ； pán shí nuó kāi yuán chù 。

“But the mountain falling comes to nothing. The rock is removed out of its place.

水流消磨石頭， 所流溢的洗去地上的塵土； 你也照樣滅絕人的指望。

shuǐ liú xiāo mó shí tou ， suǒ liú yì de xǐ qù dì shàng de chén tǔ ； nǐ yě zhào yàng miè jué rén de zhǐ wàng 。

The waters wear the stones. The torrents of it wash away the dust of the earth. So you destroy the hope of man.

你攻擊人常常得勝，使他去世； 你改變他的容貌，叫他往而不回。

nǐ gōng jī rén cháng cháng dé shèng ， shǐ tā qù shì ； nǐ gǎi biàn tā de róng mào ， jiào tā wǎng ér bù huí 。

You forever prevail against him, and he departs. You change his face, and send him away.

他兒子得尊榮，他也不知道， 降為卑，他也不覺得。

tā ér zi dé zūn róng ， tā yě bù zhī dào ， jiàng wèi bēi ， tā yě bù jué de 。

His sons come to honor, and he doesn’t know it. They are brought low, but he doesn’t perceive it of them.

但知身上疼痛， 心中悲哀。

dàn zhī shēn shàng téng tòng ， xīn zhōng bēi āi 。

But his flesh on him has pain, and his soul within him mourns.”
