人屢次受責罰,仍然硬着頸項; 他必頃刻敗壞,無法可治。

rén lǚ cì shòu zé fá , réng rán yìng zhe jǐng xiàng ; tā bì qǐng kè bài huài , wú fǎ kě zhì 。

He who is often rebuked and stiffens his neck will be destroyed suddenly, with no remedy.

義人增多,民就喜樂; 惡人掌權,民就歎息。

yì rén zēng duō , mín jiù xǐ lè ; è rén zhǎng quán , mín jiù tàn xī 。

When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan.

愛慕智慧的,使父親喜樂; 與妓女結交的,卻浪費錢財。

ài mù zhì huì de , shǐ fù qīn xǐ lè ; yǔ jì nǚ jié jiāo de , què làng fèi qián cái 。

Whoever loves wisdom brings joy to his father; but a companion of prostitutes squanders his wealth.

王藉公平,使國堅定; 索要賄賂,使國傾敗。

wáng jiè gōng píng , shǐ guó jiān dìng ; suǒ yào huì lù , shǐ guó qīng bài 。

The king by justice makes the land stable, but he who takes bribes tears it down.

諂媚鄰舍的, 就是設網羅絆他的腳。

chǎn mèi lín shè de , jiù shì shè wǎng luó bàn tā de jiǎo 。

A man who flatters his neighbor spreads a net for his feet.

惡人犯罪,自陷網羅; 惟獨義人歡呼喜樂。

è rén fàn zuì , zì xiàn wǎng luó ; wéi dú yì rén huān hū xǐ lè 。

An evil man is snared by his sin, but the righteous can sing and be glad.

義人知道查明窮人的案; 惡人沒有聰明,就不得而知。

yì rén zhī dào chá míng qióng rén de àn ; è rén méi yǒu cōng ming , jiù bù dé ér zhī 。

The righteous care about justice for the poor. The wicked aren’t concerned about knowledge.

褻慢人煽惑通城; 智慧人止息眾怒。

xiè màn rén shān huò tōng chéng ; zhì huì rén zhǐ xī zhòng nù 。

Mockers stir up a city, but wise men turn away anger.

智慧人與愚妄人相爭, 或怒或笑,總不能使他止息。

zhì huì rén yǔ yú wàng rén xiāng zhēng , huò nù huò xiào , zǒng bù néng shǐ tā zhǐ xī 。

If a wise man goes to court with a foolish man, the fool rages or scoffs, and there is no peace.

好流人血的,恨惡完全人, 索取正直人的性命。

hǎo liú rén xuè de , hèn è wán quán rén , suǒ qǔ zhèng zhí rén de xìng mìng 。

The bloodthirsty hate a man of integrity; and they seek the life of the upright.

愚妄人怒氣全發; 智慧人忍氣含怒。

yú wàng rén nù qì quán fā ; zhì huì rén rěn qì hán nù 。

A fool vents all of his anger, but a wise man brings himself under control.

君王若聽謊言, 他一切臣僕都是奸惡。

jūn wáng ruò tīng huǎng yán , tā yí qiè chén pú dōu shì jiān è 。

If a ruler listens to lies, all of his officials are wicked.

貧窮人、強暴人在世相遇; 他們的眼目都蒙耶和華光照。

pín qióng rén 、 qiáng bào rén zài shì xiāng yù ; tā men de yǎn mù dōu méng yē hé huá guāng zhào 。

The poor man and the oppressor have this in common: The LORD gives sight to the eyes of both.

君王憑誠實判斷窮人; 他的國位必永遠堅立。

jūn wáng píng chéng shí pàn duàn qióng rén ; tā de guó wèi bì yǒng yuǎn jiān lì 。

The king who fairly judges the poor, his throne shall be established forever.

杖打和責備能加增智慧; 放縱的兒子使母親羞愧。

zhàng dǎ hé zé bèi néng jiā zēng zhì huì ; fàng zòng de ér zi shǐ mǔ qīn xiū kuì 。

The rod of correction gives wisdom, but a child left to himself causes shame to his mother.

惡人加多,過犯也加多, 義人必看見他們跌倒。

è rén jiā duō , guò fàn yě jiā duō , yì rén bì kàn jiàn tā men diē dǎo 。

When the wicked increase, sin increases; but the righteous will see their downfall.

管教你的兒子,他就使你得安息, 也必使你心裏喜樂。

guǎn jiào nǐ de ér zi , tā jiù shǐ nǐ dé ān xī , yě bì shǐ nǐ xīn lǐ xǐ lè 。

Correct your son, and he will give you peace; yes, he will bring delight to your soul.

沒有異象 ,民就放肆; 惟遵守律法的,便為有福。

méi yǒu yì xiàng , mín jiù fàng sì ; wéi zūn shǒu lǜ fǎ de , biàn wèi yǒu fú 。

Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but one who keeps the law is blessed.

只用言語,僕人不肯受管教; 他雖然明白,也不留意。

zhī yòng yán yǔ , pú rén bù kěn shòu guǎn jiào ; tā suī rán míng bái , yě bù liú yì 。

A servant can’t be corrected by words. Though he understands, yet he will not respond.

你見言語急躁的人嗎? 愚昧人比他更有指望。

nǐ jiàn yán yǔ jí zào de rén ma ? yú mèi rén bǐ tā gèng yǒu zhǐ wàng 。

Do you see a man who is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

人將僕人從小嬌養, 這僕人終久必成了他的兒子。

rén jiāng pú rén cóng xiǎo jiāo yǎng , zhè pú rén zhōng jiǔ bì chéng le tā de ér zi 。

He who pampers his servant from youth will have him become a son in the end.

好氣的人挑啟爭端; 暴怒的人多多犯罪。

hǎo qì de rén tiāo qǐ zhēng duān ; bào nù de rén duō duō fàn zuì 。

An angry man stirs up strife, and a wrathful man abounds in sin.

人的高傲必使他卑下; 心裏謙遜的,必得尊榮。

rén de gāo ào bì shǐ tā bēi xià ; xīn lǐ qiān xùn de , bì dé zūn róng 。

A man’s pride brings him low, but one of lowly spirit gains honor.

人與盜賊分贓,是恨惡自己的性命; 他聽見叫人發誓的聲音,卻不言語。

rén yǔ dào zéi fēn zāng , shì hèn è zì jǐ de xìng mìng ; tā tīng jiàn jiào rén fā shì de shēng yīn , què bù yán yǔ 。

Whoever is an accomplice of a thief is an enemy of his own soul. He takes an oath, but dares not testify.

懼怕人的,陷入網羅; 惟有倚靠耶和華的,必得安穩。

jù pà rén de , xiàn rù wǎng luó ; wéi yǒu yǐ kào yē hé huá de , bì dé ān wěn 。

The fear of man proves to be a snare, but whoever puts his trust in the LORD is kept safe.

求王恩的人多; 定人事乃在耶和華。

qiú wáng ēn de rén duō ; dìng rén shì nǎi zài yē hé huá 。

Many seek the ruler’s favor, but a man’s justice comes from the LORD.

為非作歹的,被義人憎嫌; 行事正直的,被惡人憎惡。

wéi fēi zuò dǎi de , bèi yì rén zēng xián ; xíng shì zhèng zhí de , bèi è rén zēng wù 。

A dishonest man detests the righteous, and the upright in their ways detest the wicked.
