箴言 6

我兒，你若為朋友作保， 替外人擊掌，

wǒ ér ， nǐ ruò wèi péng yǒu zuò bǎo ， tì wài rén jī zhǎng ，

My son, if you have become collateral for your neighbor, if you have struck your hands in pledge for a stranger,

你就被口中的話語纏住， 被嘴裏的言語捉住。

nǐ jiù bèi kǒu zhōng de huà yǔ chán zhù ， bèi zuǐ lǐ de yán yǔ zhuō zhù 。

you are trapped by the words of your mouth; you are ensnared with the words of your mouth.

我兒，你既落在朋友手中， 就當這樣行才可救自己： 你要自卑，去懇求你的朋友。

wǒ ér ， nǐ jì luò zài péng yǒu shǒu zhōng ， jiù dāng zhè yàng xíng cái kě jiù zì jǐ ： nǐ yào zì bēi ， qù kěn qiú nǐ de péng yǒu 。

Do this now, my son, and deliver yourself, since you have come into the hand of your neighbor. Go, humble yourself. Press your plea with your neighbor.

不要容你的眼睛睡覺； 不要容你的眼皮打盹。

bú yào róng nǐ de yǎn jīng shuì jiào ； bú yào róng nǐ de yǎn pí dǎ dǔn 。

Give no sleep to your eyes, nor slumber to your eyelids.

要救自己，如鹿脫離獵戶的手， 如鳥脫離捕鳥人的手。

yào jiù zì jǐ ， rú lù tuō lí liè hù de shǒu ， rú niǎo tuō lí bǔ niǎo rén de shǒu 。

Free yourself, like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, like a bird from the snare of the fowler.

懶惰人哪， 你去察看螞蟻的動作就可得智慧。

lǎn duò rén nǎ ， nǐ qù chá kàn mǎ yǐ de dòng zuò jiù kě dé zhì huì 。

Go to the ant, you sluggard. Consider her ways, and be wise;

螞蟻沒有元帥， 沒有官長，沒有君王，

mǎ yǐ méi yǒu yuán shuài ， méi yǒu guān zhǎng ， méi yǒu jūn wáng ，

which having no chief, overseer, or ruler,

尚且在夏天預備食物， 在收割時聚斂糧食。

shàng qiě zài xià tiān yù bèi shí wù ， zài shōu gē shí jù liǎn liáng shí 。

provides her bread in the summer, and gathers her food in the harvest.

懶惰人哪，你要睡到幾時呢？ 你何時睡醒呢？

lǎn duò rén nǎ ， nǐ yào shuì dào jǐ shí ne ？ nǐ hé shí shuì xǐng ne ？

How long will you sleep, sluggard? When will you arise out of your sleep?

再睡片時，打盹片時， 抱着手躺臥片時，

zài shuì piàn shí ， dǎ dǔn piàn shí ， bào zhuó shǒu tǎng wò piàn shí ，

A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep—

你的貧窮就必如強盜速來， 你的缺乏彷彿拿兵器的人來到。

nǐ de pín qióng jiù bì rú qiáng dào sù lái ， nǐ de quē fá fǎng fú ná bīng qì de rén lái dào 。

so your poverty will come as a robber, and your scarcity as an armed man.

無賴的惡徒， 行動就用乖僻的口，

wú lài de è tú ， xíng dòng jiù yòng guāi pì de kǒu ，

A worthless person, a man of iniquity, is he who walks with a perverse mouth,

用眼傳神， 用腳示意， 用指點劃，

yòng yǎn chuán shén ， yòng jiǎo shì yì ， yòng zhǐ diǎn huà ，

who winks with his eyes, who signals with his feet, who motions with his fingers,

心中乖僻， 常設惡謀， 布散紛爭。

xīn zhōng guāi pì ， cháng shè è móu ， bù sàn fēn zhēng 。

in whose heart is perverseness, who devises evil continually, who always sows discord.

所以，災難必忽然臨到他身； 他必頃刻敗壞，無法可治。

suǒ yǐ ， zāi nàn bì hū rán lín dào tā shēn ； tā bì qǐng kè bài huài ， wú fǎ kě zhì 。

Therefore his calamity will come suddenly. He will be broken suddenly, and that without remedy.

耶和華所恨惡的有六樣， 連他心所憎惡的共有七樣：

yē hé huá suǒ hèn è de yǒu liù yàng ， lián tā xīn suǒ zēng wù de gòng yǒu qī yàng ：

There are six things which the LORD hates; yes, seven which are an abomination to him:

就是高傲的眼， 撒謊的舌， 流無辜人血的手，

jiù shì gāo ào de yǎn ， sā huǎng de shé ， liú wú gū rén xuè de shǒu ，

arrogant eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood,

圖謀惡計的心， 飛跑行惡的腳，

tú móu è jì de xīn ， fēi pǎo xíng è de jiǎo ，

a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are swift in running to mischief,

吐謊言的假見證， 並弟兄中布散紛爭的人。

tǔ huǎng yán de jiǎ jiàn zhèng ， bìng dì xiong zhōng bù sàn fēn zhēng de rén 。

a false witness who utters lies, and he who sows discord among brothers.

我兒，要謹守你父親的誡命； 不可離棄你母親的法則 ，

wǒ ér ， yào jǐn shǒu nǐ fù qīn de jiè mìng ； bù kě lí qì nǐ mǔ qīn de fǎ zé ，

My son, keep your father’s commandment, and don’t forsake your mother’s teaching.

要常繫在你心上， 掛在你項上。

yào cháng xì zài nǐ xīn shàng ， guà zài nǐ xiàng shàng 。

Bind them continually on your heart. Tie them around your neck.

你行走，它必引導你； 你躺臥，它必保守你； 你睡醒，它必與你談論。

nǐ xíng zǒu ， tā bì yǐn dǎo nǐ ； nǐ tǎng wò ， tā bì bǎo shǒu nǐ ； nǐ shuì xǐng ， tā bì yǔ nǐ tán lùn 。

When you walk, it will lead you. When you sleep, it will watch over you. When you awake, it will talk with you.

因為誡命是燈，法則 是光， 訓誨的責備是生命的道，

yīn wèi jiè mìng shì dēng ， fǎ zé shì guāng ， xùn huì de zé bèi shì shēng mìng de dào ，

For the commandment is a lamp, and the law is light. Reproofs of instruction are the way of life,

能保你遠離惡婦， 遠離外女諂媚的舌頭。

néng bǎo nǐ yuǎn lí è fù ， yuǎn lí wài nǚ chǎn mèi de shé tou 。

to keep you from the immoral woman, from the flattery of the wayward wife’s tongue.

你心中不要戀慕她的美色， 也不要被她眼皮勾引。

nǐ xīn zhōng bú yào liàn mù tā de měi sè ， yě bú yào bèi tā yǎn pí gōu yǐn 。

Don’t lust after her beauty in your heart, neither let her captivate you with her eyelids.

因為，妓女能使人只剩一塊餅； 淫婦獵取人寶貴的生命。

yīn wèi ， jì nǚ néng shǐ rén zhī shèng yí kuài bǐng ； yín fù liè qǔ rén bǎo guì de shēng mìng 。

For a prostitute reduces you to a piece of bread. The adulteress hunts for your precious life.

人若懷裏搋火， 衣服豈能不燒呢？

rén ruò huái lǐ chuāi huǒ ， yī fu qǐ néng bù shāo ne ？

Can a man scoop fire into his lap, and his clothes not be burned?

人若在火炭上走， 腳豈能不燙呢？

rén ruò zài huǒ tàn shàng zǒu ， jiǎo qǐ néng bú tàng ne ？

Or can one walk on hot coals, and his feet not be scorched?

親近鄰舍之妻的，也是如此； 凡挨近她的，不免受罰。

qīn jìn lín shè zhī qī de ， yě shì rú cǐ ； fán āi jìn tā de ， bù miǎn shòu fá 。

So is he who goes in to his neighbor’s wife. Whoever touches her will not be unpunished.

賊因飢餓偷竊充飢， 人不藐視他，

zéi yīn jī è tōu qiè chōng jī ， rén bù miǎo shì tā ，

Men don’t despise a thief if he steals to satisfy himself when he is hungry,

若被找着，他必賠還七倍， 必將家中所有的盡都償還。

ruò bèi zhǎo zhe ， tā bì péi huán qī bèi ， bì jiāng jiā zhōng suǒ yǒu de jìn dōu cháng huán 。

but if he is found, he shall restore seven times. He shall give all the wealth of his house.

與婦人行淫的，便是無知； 行這事的，必喪掉生命。

yǔ fù rén xíng yín de ， biàn shì wú zhī ； xíng zhè shì de ， bì sàng diào shēng mìng 。

He who commits adultery with a woman is void of understanding. He who does it destroys his own soul.

他必受傷損，必被凌辱； 他的羞恥不得塗抹。

tā bì shòu shāng sǔn ， bì bèi líng rǔ ； tā de xiū chǐ bù dé tú mǒ 。

He will get wounds and dishonor. His reproach will not be wiped away.

因為人的嫉恨成了烈怒， 報仇的時候決不留情。

yīn wèi rén de jí hèn chéng le liè nù ， bào chóu de shí hòu jué bù liú qíng 。

For jealousy arouses the fury of the husband. He won’t spare in the day of vengeance.

甚麼贖價，他都不顧； 你雖送許多禮物，他也不肯干休。

shén me shú jià ， tā dōu bú gù ； nǐ suī sòng xǔ duō lǐ wù ， tā yě bù kěn gān xiū 。

He won’t regard any ransom, neither will he rest content, though you give many gifts.
